I choke out a laugh, shaking my head in an attempt to bring my thoughts back to the here and now. “Um, yeah. His band is playing at The Brew tomorrow night. I plan on being there.”

“Shut up. Sexy McHottington is in a
band?
You didn’t tell me that.”

I laugh at her nickname for my dreamer, adjusting the heavy tote on my shoulder. “Yeah. He’s the lead singer for a band called Mountains & Men.”

“Oh, my god, Millie! You’ve been holding out on me. I’ve heard of them! I mean, I haven’t actually
heard
them, but I’ve heard people talk about them. I hear they’re amazing.”

“Yeah. They’re really great. And—” I lose my words when we round the corner to the corridor that houses our offices. There—leaning his shoulder against the wall beside my door, his legs crossed at his ankles, one hand in his pocket, the other holding his phone—is Sage. He looks up as he hears us coming and my stomach flutters when his gaze collides with mine.

“Speak of the devil,” Lindsey whispers.

“Hey, doll face,” he says in greeting, pushing off the wall as he closes the distance between us. He surprises me when he slips his fingers under the strap of my tote bag, easing it off of my shoulder and into his grasp.

“Hi,” I manage.

“Millie, aren’t you going to introduce us?” asks Lindsey.

“Oh. Yeah, sure. Sorry.” Sage smirks at me, clearly amused by the way he’s able to shift the axis of my world just by showing up where I least expect him. “Lindsey, this is Sage. Sage, this is Lindsey—or, Professor Clark.”

“Definitely just Lindsey,” she tells him, holding out her hand.

“Nice to meet you,” says Sage, accepting her gesture.

“Tell me, how do you know our Millie?”

My head snaps in her direction and I watch as she playfully bats her eyelashes at Sage. She and I haven’t really had too many opportunities to talk recently, both of us busy and distracted. Sage hasn’t been a real topic of conversation since last week, before our relationship was defined.
Clearly
she’s hoping for a definition right now. She’s also smart enough to know that it’ll slip right out of Sage’s mouth far easier than it’ll come from mine.

Sage’s smirk turns into a knowing grin and he winks at me before he answers. “I’m her boyfriend.”

Boyfriend
.

Hearing the word makes my skin breakout in goose bumps.

“Boyfriend, huh? I was hoping you’d say that,” she replies animatedly, nudging me with her elbow once more. “Professor Valentine, girlfriend to the lead singer of Mountains & Men. I’m so proud.” She places a hand over her heart and I roll my eyes at her, irritated when I feel a blush start to heat my cheeks.

“She told you that, did she?” Sage asks, reaching for my hand. He laces his fingers with mine and my stomach flutters, yet again. Suddenly, I want to be anywhere other than this hallway. I’m feeling overwhelmed with the level of
sharing
that’s going on right now. “Are you going to come out to the show this weekend?”

“You’re playing at The Brew Cycle?”

“Yup.”

“I think I just might,” she says, smiling at me as she begins to make her way to her office. “Talk to you later, Millie. Nice meeting you, Sage.” She waggles her fingers at the both of us and then disappears behind her closed door. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding and then pull my hand away from Sage’s in order to reach for my keys.

“So, my girl was braggin’ on me, huh?” he mutters—my arrogant little shit.

I roll my eyes at him as I unlock my door and step inside. “You surprised me. What are you doing here?”

I barely take two steps into the room before he has me by the waist. He pulls me back, pressing me up against the door as he pushes it shut, dropping my tote at our feet. My heart races and my lungs feel like they are shrinking as his hands slowly travel up my sides, stopping at my ribs. His thumbs graze the underside of my breasts and it’s all I can do not to moan. Even fully clothed, his delicate touch provokes my desire for him.
Only
him.

“Needed a taste,” he finally speaks in answer to my question.

When he leans in, I think he’s going to kiss me, but then he ducks his head and presses his lips against the sensitive spot just below my ear. With a flick of his tongue across my skin, I’m instantly wet. I’m no longer surprised with how quickly he’s able to turn me on. I know the pleasure he’s capable of manipulating. Even now, as he licks, nibbles, and sucks along the curve of my neck, he’s got me right where he wants me—and he knows it.

I reach up and cup my hands around the back of his neck, slowly feeling my way up into his hair. It’s just long enough for me to grip hold of and I love the feel of its thick, soft texture between my fingers. I close my eyes and breathe in the scent of Sage—spicy and fresh, manly and delicious. I’m completely lost in him and, in this moment, I wonder how I ever thought I could fight this. I thought the fall would break me, but I was wrong. The fall has saved me. I wouldn’t have survived walking away from him. Thankfully, he knew that.

His tongue swirls around the dip at the center of my collarbone and the moan I was holding back before breaks free. I gasp when he reaches up and tugs at the collar of my knit top, pulling it down far enough to reveal the small swell of my breast. I bite my lip when he pinches the skin between his teeth, sucking at the same time. He’s leaving his mark on me and the knowledge of that, coupled with the painfully sweet sensation, makes me so hot—inside and out.

Sage,
” I murmur. My aching core can’t take much more teasing. Knowing I won’t be finding a release in my office, I need him to stop—but his name is all I can seem to muster the will to say.

“Mmm,” he groans, kissing the spot he just marked as he slides his hands down and around my ass. He pulls me against him tightly and I can
feel
what he’s trying to say. “So fucking good,” he says softly, kissing his way up the other side of my neck. “Every inch of you, baby doll, tastes so—fucking—good.”

When his lips finally crash against mine, I’m so fired up that I can feel my inhibitions melting away. I need him closer, and my body acts without seeking my brain’s permission. I hook my leg up around his thigh, hoping to satisfy my throbbing pussy with just a hint of him. He presses into my center and I whimper—his act only making me want more.

“Dammit, Millie,” he breathes, cupping the bottom of my ass and lifting me from my feet. It’s just enough for me to wrap my ankles around the back of his calves, but he lines us up just right, eliciting a gasp of pleasure. “Stop wearing pants to work, doll face. This would be so much better if I could be inside of you right now.”

“Mmm, Sage, we can’t have sex in here,” I manage, looking into his heated gaze as he rubs his hard-on against me—each stroke sending a wave of pleasure across every inch of my skin.

“Oh, no? Well, I sure as hell plan on getting you off right now.”

I open my mouth, but no words come out. I certainly won’t argue. He’s gotten me halfway there already. I know, despite how inappropriate this might be, I’m just seconds away from relief. I don’t know how this became my life—collecting pop quizzes one minute, dry humping my boyfriend against my office door the next—but here I am. And all I can say is—

“Baby, I’m gonna come.”

“You bet your sexy, little ass, you are.”

He kisses me, and the second his tongue grazes mine, my orgasm washes over me like a tidal wave. I groan into his mouth, wrapping my arms around his shoulders as I kiss him deeper, my body draping over his as my muscles begin to relax.

“Love hearing you come, baby doll,” he mutters against my lips, giving my ass a squeeze before he sets me down.

“What about you?” I question, my eyes drifting down to get a glimpse of the impressive bulge in his jeans that just drenched my panties.

“I’ll be alright,” he says, reaching down to adjust himself. “Besides,” he pauses, winking at me before he goes to sit behind my desk. “You can make it up to me later tonight.”

“Yeah? You’re free tonight?” I straighten my clothes and run my fingers through my hair, bringing the long strands to one shoulder, all the while keeping my gaze trained on him—
Sexy McHottington.

“I’m free for
you
.”

“Oh. I just thought you’d be with the band.”

He shakes his head and holds his hands out, signaling me toward him. Once in reach, I let him pull me down into his lap, his arms around my waist and our hands clasped together. “Tonight, it’s just you and me. And Maestro, if it’s cool for him to come over.”

“Sure,” I say with a nod. “As long as he doesn’t eat my shoes.”

“Nah. Shoes were never his thing.”

“And you’re
sure
you don’t need to be with the band?” I search his face, hoping that his words will match his expression. I remember the last time I hung out with Mountains & Men—it’s hard to forget the first jealous fit I’ve had over a man in, well, maybe
ever
. While I don’t feel like I fit in his world anymore than I did before, I’ve come to accept that, knowing he’s chosen me anyway. That being said, I don’t want him to have to choose me or them. “I know tomorrow is a big deal,” I tell him. “If you want me to come over instead…”

“What’d I say, Millicent?”
He kisses my lips softly before he continues. “Tonight, it’s just you and me. You’re my girl, not my leftovers. I know it’s been a crazy week and we haven’t really had a chance to hang out, but I’m yours when you want me, doll face. Don’t forget it.”

“Okay,” I murmur with a nod. “I should be home by five.”

“I’ll see you at five fifteen, then.”

“Okay,” I say once more.

“Alright.” He lets go of my hands and taps my legs, beckoning me up. “I really did just drop by for a taste. I’ve gotta jet—but I’ll see you tonight.” He jogs to the door and grabs my tote, bringing it over to my desk before delivering one more quick kiss. “Bye, baby.”

“Bye.” I sit, watching him leave, feeling both a little sad and a great deal more anxious. It’s silly that I miss him even before he crosses the threshold into the hallway, but I do. To deny it would be a lie unworthy of the effort. Instead, I embrace the feeling—giving fuel to the anxious anticipation that stirs in the pit of my stomach. I get him all night long, all to myself, and I can’t help but feel a little spoiled.

“So!” Lindsey pops her head into my office, a mischievous smirk on her lips. “What time shall I join you for the show tomorrow? I’m
so
there.”

B
ABY, I’M GONNA COME.

As I walk out of the building into the cool afternoon, I pull at my jeans while I try and fail to stow away that moment for future use. I lick my lips, remembering what her face looked like as she stared into my eyes—her dark green irises dilated with desire. I almost
feel
her groan as I remember her breathing it into my mouth while she came undone against that door.

Fucking hell, she’s so goddamn gorgeous.

For a brief minute, I wonder if I’ll be able to wait until tonight before I get mine. She makes me so hard, it’s like I’m carrying around a fucking brick dick. I’ve never wanted a woman as much as I want her.

I’ve never been so desperate to make a woman come as many times and as often as I wish to make Millicent unravel at my touch.

I meant to come say hi. I hadn’t been planning on humping her like a fucking animal, but I couldn’t stop. She tasted amazing. She felt even better. I just couldn’t stop.

I’m pulled from my reverie at the sound of my phone, ringing from inside of my pocket. I reach for it and check the caller ID.
Pepper
lights up the screen and I’m actually relieved when my hard-on starts to go soft at the sight.

“Hey, Pep,” I answer, continuing my journey to my car.

“Hey! I just called to tell you that I have
news!
” she exclaims. I can hear the smile in her voice and it makes me smile, too.

“Yeah?”

“Mom’s coming over tomorrow night to watch my little Montgomeries. Harold and I actually get a night to ourselves. He’s going to take me to dinner and then we’re going to come see you perform.”

I pump my fist in the air, unashamed of who might see me in my celebratory moment. Tomorrow night is a huge fucking deal—it’s our one chance to make an impression on this Stefany chick. I love my sisters dearly. Their names are tattooed over my heart, for Christ’s sake. Knowing that both of them are going to be at The Brew tomorrow night makes me feel that much more confident that we’re going to play one sick-as-shit set.

“That’s awesome, Pepper. God, I’m so glad you’ll be there. It’s been a while since you’ve seen us play. You’ll get to meet our new bassist, Alex.”

“Oh, yeah. Rose told me about her; says she’s pretty sweet and a beast on the bass.”

I chuckle at that description. Rosy was right in calling Alex sweet, she really is; but she’s definitely got a bit of fire in her she’ll never let us guys forget. “Yeah, that about sums her up.”

“Well, I look forward to meeting her. Actually, um, I was hoping I might get to meet…your
girlfriend?
” Her voice goes up an octave as she says the word
girlfriend
in question.
