“Oh, butaniku pepper sticks are nasty, but I do like niwatori curry Towtow.
You would make a fine cook, but do you know any other dishes that contain niwatori?” Blake asked.

“Of course I do! My family owns a restaurant!
I practically read their whole recipe book every day after school” Kaelinda said while crossing her arms and holding her head up in the air.

“Oh, so what restaurant does
your
family own?” Blake asked.

“My family owns Ramblington delight. The five star restaurant, down town next to Donna’s café” Kaelinda said arrogantly.

We all got silent for a couple of moments.

“So Kaelinda, how did you know how to treat my wounds?” I asked.

“Oh, my mom taught me how. My mom is a doctor while my dad side of the family owns the restaurant.

My mom told me that it’s best I learn these things now, so that I can be able to help people when I need to. Plus, my parents put me in a program that teaches kids our age to treat wounds in an emergency situation.” Kaelinda replied while her arrogance faded away.

“Oh, so your mom taught you how to treat wounds and other medical things?” I asked.

“Yeah, she told me that if I do that, it would help me know what to expect if I decide to become a doctor.” Kaelinda said.

“One mile left!” Blake announced.

Just then I felt a pain in my back.
Why is my back hurting now, when I’m halfway to the Juvenile Detention Center? I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, while rubbing the middle of my back.

Everyone looked at me.

“What’s wrong Kaelor?” Aoi asked.  “My back hurts again.” I replied.

“Oh yeah, it will hurt because the nurse’s office didn’t have anything for pain,

so you’ll just have to endure it for now.” Kaelinda replied.

“My feet hurt, and I’m tired!”  Mari said in a m
ocking voice.

I rolled my eyes and replied, “Deal with it.”

Mari frowned at me and rolled her eyes. “Well, at least hot face didn’t reject me!  Plus, I can see why he’d reject you any way! You have a big head, and your nose is too big.  Your hair is Knotted and your eyes

have
bags underneath!” she replied with a big grin that spread from ear to ear.

I have never been more insulted in my life!
“Well, look who’s talking! Have you taken a look in the mirror lately? ‘Cause, if you haven’t , I could give you a long and cruel description of your ugly giraffe neck and face!” I replied, practically lighting on fire.

“Well, at least I have a giraffe neck instead of no neck!” Mari replied turning around to look at me.

“You take that back you long necked, big fore headed, alligator faced, dunce!” I yelled while grabbing the collar of her shirt, and pulling it up.

“No! You, you, you, you stupid” a whole bunch of unpleasant words escaped her mouth.  Each word was shooting into me like an arrow.

“Now you shut your mouth you ignorant pea brain! I can’t believe I actually took the time to save your sorry little butt…” a lot of words came out of my mouth, one after another.

Mari’s expression quickly changed from heated to on fire.

“Ok little mister ugly man, why don’t you try this on for size” Mari replied before kicking my shin.

I flinched at the huge amount of pain I felt.
“You’re going to pay!” I replied after letting go of her shirt collar.

I was about to wring that little girl’s neck until I felt someone grab my hands.

“Stop, Kaelor! This is NOT a street fighting match!” Aoi said as Hana-yon held my hands back.

My clenched teeth soon changed into a neutral face. How did she know that I fight? Who even said I fight on the street? “How did you…?” I asked while Hana-yon let go of my hands.

“Paige told me” Aoi said.

“Paige, how did you know?” I asked.

“I pass your neighborhood every day. I always hear someone yelling your name

and
saying ‘beat ‘em up Kaelor’.  By the way, it’s not street fighting Aoi.  It’s called getting in fights a lot on the street” Paige replied.

I didn’t know Paige passed my neighborhood every day.
“So where do you-” I was cut off by Hana-yon shushing me.

“Did you hear that?” Hana-yon whispered.

“What?” we all asked at the same time.

“That, that moaning sound…. it sounded like a zombie” Hana-yon whispered, while trying to focus on the sounds.

After a couple of minutes of trying to hear the sounds, I heard it too. “I heard it,” I whispered.

“Good. I’m glad it wasn’t just me” Hana-yon whispered.

“Ok, well I suggest we run now.  They sound really close.” I replied.

Suddenly, everyone was running and I was left behind.

Of course! I had to run behind.

Chapter 3
:When We Arrived

After fifteen minutes, I slowed down to jogging.
After thirty minutes, Blake said “Stop! We’re here.”

I took my gaze off of the road and looked to my right.  There stood a fence about ten feet high.
It was surrounding a

building
that was at least ten stories high.  The place looked like a castle.

Blake gestured us to come closer to the gate.
He put his finger on the fence and then flicked it quickly. “Just like I thought” he mumbled.

“What?” Edmund asked.

“They put an electric shock on the fence, so they might still be in there.  Or, they just did it for no reason.” Blake said while holding on to his finger.

“Are you okay?” Kaelinda asked.

“Yeah, just a little shock” Blake replied.

Aoi stepped in front of the gate and took her clinch sack off.  She opened it and pulled out four wooden sticks with rubber around them.

I didn’t know she played electric ball! Plus, she doesn’t even have the proper equipment!

She wrapped the strap around her forearm as the wood stood against her

forearm. She did the same to the other. She took off her sneakers and her socks. Then, she put the other wood parts under her feet. She wrapped the strap around her foot and did the same with the other.

Now I see what she’s trying to do. She’s trying to protect herself from an electric shock.
The rubber soles in her sneakers already were a big help.

“Aoi, take the wood on your feet and strap them to the palm of your hands” Paige said.

I guess she knew what she was doing too.

“No, I need to put my shoes on my hands” Aoi said while putting her left sneaker on her left hand.  She then put the right sneaker on her right hand.

I see now.
The sneaker thing was a lot smarter than the wood thing. Aoi grabbed the fence and put her foot in one of the holes.  Then she grabbed another part while putting her other foot into another hole. She repeated this until she was at the top. When she hit the top of the fence she

brought her feet to the top and then jumped over. She then took her shoes off her hands and took the wood off.  She put her feet in her shoes and then threw the wood over the fence at us.

Edmund grabbed the wood and put them on.
He then got on the fence and copied Aoi’s trick.  He threw the wood over and then Kohaku grabbed the wood and did the same thing.

They all copied this until I was the last one to come up.
Everyone was waiting at the fence.

There was a fence behind this one.

“Blake does this one have an electric shock on it?” Aoi asked.

“No, this one was always locked tight.” Blake replied.

Edmund jumped on the fence and began climbing it.

I jumped on and climbed it too.  Before I knew it, everyone was climbing the fence.

I jumped down off of the fence, and one by one everyone was coming down.
“If, they aren’t here they are some genuine idiots for not staying here” I said.

“You got that right” Mari said in agreement.

I just realized, Mari and I just got along.  That may not last long.

We all started walking towards the building.  Once we reached the building, Blake ran toward the door.

I ran up behind him, to see what he was doing. He was clicking on a keypad. I think he was entering a code.

Suddenly, the door opened and Blake and I walked in.

“Oh, it looks exactly the same as when I last came here.” Blake said while walking toward a stairwell.

I saw four hallways on the left wall, and four on the right wall.
One was blocked with a heavily locked door and the others had a keypad on it just like the other.

The walls were painted plain blue, while the floor was a white tile.  “Blake, how did you know the code?” I asked.

He didn’t answer.

“So ok, where are we going?” I asked.

He still didn’t answer.
I looked behind me, and saw that everyone was inside.

Edmund clicked a button next to the door that made it close fast, with a loud THUD!

“How did you know the code?” Paige asked while taking a look around. The voices echoed in the unfurnished room.

“Yeah, how did you?” Lequisha asked while taking a seat on the floor and crossing her legs.

“How do we get to the cells?” Kaelinda asked.

We all looked at her.

“What! I haven’t been to this place before and I’ve always wanted to see what it

actually
looks like in a Juvenile Detention Center,” Kaelinda said.

I nodded and turned to look at Blake, Who was walking up the stairs.
I followed up the stairs, behind him.

“So, how did you know the code?” I asked again.

“Ugh! You guys ask too much questions!” Blake yelled while massaging his temples.

I rolled my eyes.
“Let’s just follow him” I said while taking the steps by twos.

Everyone was coming up the stairs. As I got closer to Blake, he looked back. “Stop following me!” Blake yelled in an irritated voice.

I stopped climbing up the stairs and turned my head to look at everyone else.

They all had surprised faces on, especially the fourth graders.

Blake then turned back around and ran up the stairs.
When he reached the top he tapped a code into the keypad on the

door
. He ran into the room and then closed the door.

“Drama queen
, Leq..Larissa will never like you!” Kohaku yelled to Blake.

“What?” Mari and Lequisha said.

“Oh, it’s just the girl that he likes, doesn’t like dramatic people,” Kohaku said. “I thought you said my name” Lequisha said while narrowing her eyes at Kohaku.

“Yeah” said Mari in agreement, while narrowing her eyes at him also.

“Oh, I meant Larissa. You know, the girl who cussed at the teacher and got suspended” Kohaku said.

“Oh ok, but why would Blake like Larissa, especially when he could have chosen the most popular girl in fourth grade, me!” Mari said.

Lequisha crossed her arms while looking to the ceiling and said, “You were, until Larissa stole your spot with the teacher cussing thing.”

Lequisha
did seem like she felt better than before.  After all,she was riding Edmund’s back until we got to the fence.

“Well, why don’t we stop with the fourth grade drama and move on to something more important; like what Blake is doing” Edmund said running up the stairs to the door.
By the time Edmund was in front of the door, Blake opened it from the other side.
