“Let’s go home,” Cas said, the ache in her heart almost too much to handle. She hadn’t realized that she, her father’s cold and detached daughter, could care so much.

She reached behind her with one hand, wanting—needing—Tolemek’s touch. Maybe she would talk to him about it later, after all. He twined his fingers through hers.

“What will you do when we get there?” he asked.

“Rejoin Wolf Squadron, if they’ll have me. I have… obligations.”
