This was Adam’s redemption. Roxanne was his love. Roxanne was his life. She loved him back and he felt that with the taste of her lips. This wasn’t the end. This was a new beginning.

EPILOGUE

Roxanne got into Adam’s Jeep and left with him. She was tired of fighting against her heart. Adam was now a part of her life. He was her daughter’s father not only by blood but he behaved as such. The time he spent with Morgan had meant something to her daughter. It had also meant something to her.

It was slow moving at first but Roxanne succumbed to Adam. She had bad feelings but the good ones overshadowed them until they withered and died. She wondered if she had fallen back into her old coping mechanism where she pretended things didn’t happen. She realized she was well aware of the past and what conspired. She had made a conscious decision to live in the present. She couldn’t change what happened to her but she could move on with her life.

Adam and Roxanne took shifts at the hospital with Morgan. Adam stayed there in the daytime when Roxanne went into work. Morgan was a strong little girl and after a two-month stay in the hospital she was released.

Adam joined them back at Roxanne’s apartment. Adam finally confided in his brother and told him the entire story. He made Daniel promise to keep his confession a secret. He worried that Melanie would view him badly if she knew about his past and he wanted his new life to be as peaceful as possible for him and Roxanne.

The stress of Morgan’s illness made Roxanne forgetful. She hadn’t planned to get pregnant but when Adam was back in the apartment everything resumed the way it once was. Their newly rekindled relationship started off secret because Roxanne didn’t divulge that they had gotten back together.

Once she started to show she had to tell everybody she was expecting and that Adam was the father. She also had to tell everyone that they had flown to Vegas and gotten married. She didn’t want anyone to talk her out of it. The nuptials didn’t come as a big shock to most because it was clear they were in love.

When Roxanne was six months into her pregnancy they started house hunting. Adam was excited about being a father. Adam only dreamed he could be the father to his son that his father was to him. Adam could only thank god for the way his life turned around. The burden of lying and covering up those lies with more lies was over. The road to this place in his life was hard and bumpy but it was the only road that led him to Roxanne. He would take this road a thousand times over to be with the woman he loved, to be with the daughter he never knew he had and to have this future he never dreamed was possible.

Authors Notes

This is a pretty different book for me. This is my first book written in third person. This was very difficult. I applaud all authors that write in third because having so many voices in your head is very scary. I never want to repeat any of my previous works. As a writer you write what you feel and not necessarily what you feel will sell or will appeal to the masses. I have a lot of stories in me and some may not fall so easily into one genre or another. It was hard trying to find a genre that this unconventional and controversial subject matter would fit into. This book is about redemption, rehabilitation and forgiveness. At first I wasn’t sure this was even a love story but now I feel it is. People fall in love all the time but the circumstances here are extreme. Some subject matter is extremely taboo but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be addressed. I just feel certain topics should be written in a delicate manner. People can change. People can be forgiven. People can redeem themselves. Thanks to those readers who have supported my work. I love to write and you can expect much more from me in the future.
