Bob smiled sadly and said, “Damn! I never thought a day like this would happen to us, gee. We almost made it though, huh?”

“Yeah, almost. All we got now is us, dog, so we'll maintain like we're supposed to. Bo-Pete's family will be set for the rest of their lives. I'm about to get at Won now and have him take care of everything on the financial side, you know, change the accounts over to Bo-Pete's people and shit.”

“I'm real tired, gee. Go on and handle shit. Just make sure you keep me in the loop, dog.”

“Gotcha.”

After hanging up with Bob, Taz called Won. “What's up, O.G.?”

“What's going on, Babyboy?”

“Bad news, dog . . . bad news. Bo-Pete's dead.”

What?
What the hell happened?”

“It's a long story, O.G., so I'll give you the short version.”

After Taz finished telling Won about everything that has happened, he ended with, “So you see, it's really all on me. If I would have laid that clown Cliff down from the beginning, this shit wouldn't be as fucked up as it is now.”

“You can't blame yourself, Babyboy. Shit like this happens sometimes. Don't stress yourself out too much behind this madness. I need you to remain focused.”

“What's what on that other thing?” asked Taz.

Won sighed heavily and said, “To be honest, Babyboy, I don't even have a fucking clue. I'm still stuck at square one. I'm going to make a few calls today and hopefully find something out.”

“All right, get at me when you're ready. But, look, we need you to take care of Bo-Pete's money and shit. Everything goes to his moms and pops, since he didn't have any kids. Can you take care of that for us?”

“You already know that won't be a problem. Get back at me with their names as well as their socials, and I'll take care of everything. Make sure you let them know that there will be absolutely nothing to worry about as far as taxes or anything. But they will never be able to bring all of that money over here to the U.S. Explain to them that whenever they need any money, they will have to do a wire transfer through the Islands and their banks. As long as they do that, they'll be all right.”

“All right, O.G. I'm about to take care of that right now. I'll get at you and let you know when the funeral will be.”

“Make sure you do that, Babyboy. Out!”

After getting off the phone with Won, Taz turned toward Sacha and said, “I need you to come with me over to Bo-Pete's parents' house. I don't think I can do this solo, Li'l Mama.”

Sacha grabbed her man's hand and said, “Come on, baby. Let's go and get it over with.”

Taz stood and gave her a tight hug as tears fell slowly down his face.
Damn!

Chapter Twenty-one

This shit is in-fucking-credible!
thought Pitt as he watched once again as Leo and Tru revived G.

They had been torturing G for over four days now, and the man still refused to break. Leo admired his strength, but Pitt was furious.

“This shit has to fucking stop! You have to break this fool, Leo! You fucking have to! If we don't get what I need, we'll never be able to move on that nigga Won!” screamed Pitt.

“I've thought of everything I could possibly do to this fool, Pitt. He's determined not to give up shit. He's not going to be able to hold out much longer. Shit, he should have been dead days ago,” Leo said seriously.

When G heard Pitt mention Won's name, he smiled because he knew that once again the old man was definitely going to come out on top of the pile.
Won never loses,
he thought to himself.

Pitt sat in his seat steaming as he tried to think of a way to make G tell him what he needed to know. His thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of a cell phone. He checked his and saw that it wasn't his phone that was ringing, and so did Leo and Tru.

Tru reached inside of G's pants and pulled out his cell and passed it to Pitt, who answered it. “Hello. Hello? Hello?” Pitt smiled as he closed the cell phone and said, “Kill that piece of shit and put him out of his misery.”

“But I thought we had to get that info you needed from him first,” Leo said.

With a huge smile on his face, Pitt said, “We just did.” He went and knelt next to G's tortured body and said, “Just before I kill your man Won, I'll make sure to tell him what a stand-up guy you were.”

“Wha-what are you talkin' 'bout?” asked G.

“You know what I'm talking about, nigga. Won! He's the nigga that paid you to get at my peoples! You gave him to me even though you tried not to,” Pitt said as he reopened G's cell phone and stared at the number that showed on G's caller ID screen. The number showing was Won's cellular number in Southern California.

“Don't feel bad. It's not your fault. That nigga fucked himself by calling your ass on his cell. He's not that fucking bright after all.” Pitt then slapped G lightly on his face and said, “See ya!”

Leo pulled out his 9 mm and shot G once in the back of his head.

Pitt grimaced and said, “Get someone out here to clean up this fucking mess. I gots shit to do.”

Tazneema couldn't believe it. She was pregnant again!
Damn! I must be fertile as hell,
she thought as she threw the pregnancy test into the trashcan. She had a smile on her face as she went into her bedroom so she could call Clifford and tell him that once again, she was pregnant with his child.

When Clifford answered his cell phone and heard the good news, he smiled and said, “We're going to make sure that everything turns out like it's supposed to this time, 'Neema. I can't believe that you got pregnant again so fast.”

She laughed and said, “Well, it's really not that hard when you have unprotected sex, baby.”

“I know, huh? That was stupid of me to say. But you know what I meant. I love you, baby.”

“I love you too.”

“When are you going to tell Taz and Mama-Mama?”

“As soon as I get off the phone with you. I'm not making the same mistake twice.”

“Do you want me to come over? I can hit the highway and get back to the city in a couple of hours.”

“Uh-uh. It'll be easier if I take care of this by myself this time, baby. I'll give you a call after I've told them. When are you coming back to the city?”

“Later on this week some time,” Clifford lied.

“When is your interview?”

“Hopefully in a day or so. I'll know for sure later on after I talk to a friend of mine.”

“Okay, make sure you keep me posted on what happens.”

“I will, 'Neema. Bye, baby.”

“Bye,” she said and hung up the phone. She went into the kitchen, where her grandmother was preparing dinner. She sat down at the kitchen table and said, “Mama-Mama, I'm pregnant again.”

Mama-Mama stopped stirring the pot of beans, turned around, faced Tazneema and said, “You had to go and be stupid again, huh? Girl, don't you know you're going to drive Taz crazy? What's wrong with you, 'Neema? Why must you continue to cause problems within this family?”

Mama-Mama had never spoken to Tazneema like this before, and she couldn't believe she'd heard what Mama-Mama had just told her. “How dare you accuse me of causing problems within this family! Just because I'm in love with my man and I'm having a baby by him doesn't mean that I'm causing any problems! You don't like Cliff, I understand that. Your son doesn't like him, I understand that too. What the both of you don't seem to understand is that y'all don't have to like him! As long as I love him, that's all that matters! I'm sick and tired of the both of you and the way y'all treat me! I'm no longer a child, Mama-Mama. The sooner you and your son realize that fact, the better off we all will be! I'm sorry for yelling at you, because you know I love you dearly, but I've had enough of this . . . this craziness! I'm going back to my place in Norman. This house has gotten too small for me now.”

Mama-Mama stood in front of the stove and shook her head from side to side as she watched her granddaughter leave the kitchen. “That girl just don't understand. Her daddy ain't gon' let her be with that man, let alone have a baby by him. God, keep my family in Your hands, please. We're definitely about to need You and some of Your divine mercy,” she prayed as she continued to stir her pot of beans.

After Tazneema packed her things, she said good-bye to Mama-Mama, jumped into her car and headed to her apartment she shared with Lyla out in Norman, Oklahoma, not far from the campus of OU. While she was driving, she decided she might as well go on over to Taz's house and tell him about her pregnancy while she had the nerve.

When she pulled into the driveway of her father's home, she noticed that her uncles were over there as well. She smiled, because even though they really weren't her uncles, she loved Bo-Pete, Wild Bill, Red and Keno as if they were blood relatives. Ever since she could remember, they had always made sure that she had whatever she needed. She jumped out of her car and went to go face her father's wrath.

Taz smiled at his daughter when he opened the front door and said, “What's good, baby girl? I see you're looking better.”

As Tazneema stepped inside she smiled and said, “Yeah, and I'm feeling a whole lot better. How are you? I haven't heard from you in a while, so I decided to come over and see how you were doing,” she lied.

“I wish I could tell you that I was fine, but that's not the case, baby girl,” Taz said as he led her into the den, where everyone was.

After speaking to Red, Keno, Bob, Sacha, Gwen and Wild Bill, Tazneema asked, “What happened to you, Uncle Bill? Where's my Uncle Bo-Pete?”

Everyone else inside of the room turned and stared at Taz. Taz inhaled deeply and said, “Your Uncle Bo-Pete was killed a couple of days ago, 'Neema. He and Wild Bill got shot coming out of the club.”

She screamed and ran into her father's arms and began to cry uncontrollably. “Who did this, Daddy? Who killed my Uncle Bo-Pete?”

As Taz held his daughter in his arms, he knew that he couldn't hold anything back from her. She had to know the truth about the man she loved. He just hoped and prayed that she wouldn't trip the fuck out on him once he told her what happened. He sighed heavily and said, “That nigga Cliff and his homeboys did it, baby girl. They been beefin' with us for over a month now. They tried to get us all one night at the same club, but they got Bill and Bo-Pete. Cliff and his Hoover homeboys.”

She pulled from her father's embrace, glared at him and said, “What did you say? 'Cause I know I didn't hear you correctly.”

“You heard me, baby girl. That nigga Cliff killed your Uncle Bo-Pete.”

“Now, come on, Taz. You don't actually know for sure if Cliff is the actual person who pulled the trigger,” Sacha said, trying her best to defuse a situation she knew was about to become volatile any second. She could see it in Tazneema's eyes.

“Even if the nigga didn't actually pull the fuckin' trigger, this entire war is behind him tryin' to take me out so that he could be with my fuckin' child. Go on with that shit now, Li'l Mama. You know damn well all of this shit is behind that nigga.”

Tazneema shook her head from side to side and said, “No. I know for a fact that Cliff wouldn't do no crazy mess like this. He doesn't want any beef with you, Taz. He just wants to move on with his life. We've discussed this, and I know he didn't have anything to do with my Uncle Bo-Pete getting killed.”

Taz shook his head in disgust and said, “What the fuck you mean, you've discussed this with him? You still been fuckin' with that nigga, 'Neema? Huh? After I told you not to go against the grain, you still been fuckin' with the nigga that has been tryin' to take me out? You gots to be outta your muthafuckin' mind!”

“Taz! Stop it! She's hurting enough as it is!” Sacha yelled as she stepped over to Tazneema who had sat down on the couch next to Gwen.

As tears fell slowly from her eyes, Tazneema said, “I love him, Taz, can't you understand that? On top of that, I'm pregnant again with Cliff's child. I'm having my baby, and I'm going to be with my man,” she said.

You're what?
Didn't you hear anything I just told your crazy-ass? That! Nigga! Killed! Bo-Pete! You just can't seem to understand what I'm tellin' you. That nigga ain't gon' be around to be no father to no fuckin' baby, 'cause as soon as this heat dies down in this fuckin' town, the hunt will be right back on for his punk-ass! Do you hear me? He's a dead man, 'Neema!
D-e-a-fuckin'-d!

“So, it's been y'all who have been shooting all of those gang-bangers around the city? Me and Mama-Mama saw that stuff on the news the other day. All because you think Cliff is the one who killed my Uncle Bo-Pete?” Tazneema asked as she continued to cry.

“Think?
Think?
We're sitting here makin' fuckin' funeral arrangements for your uncle right fuckin' now! And you fuckin' ask me if I
think
that nigga of yours done this shit! You gots to be outta your fuckin' mind! Get this through your fuckin' head right fuckin' now! If you think that nigga will be around to be the father of your child, then you got another thing comin'! I raised you with the help of my mother and the men you see in this room right now, except for my nigga, Bo-Pete—rest in peace—and we can do the same for your unborn seed, 'Neema. But that child will
not
have that nigga Cliff as a father! 'Cause I swear to you, on your mother's grave, I'm going to kill that nigga before the month's out!”

Tazneema stood and calmly said, “If you kill my man, then you might as well kill me too. 'Cause I swear to
you,
on my mother's grave, that if you hurt Cliff, I'm going to try my very best to kill you!” Before Taz or anyone in the room could say a word, she grabbed her purse and left her father's home.

Taz sat down after Tazneema had left and said, “Well, I'll be damn!”

“Don't pay her any attention, dog. She's just too caught up emotionally right now,” said Keno.

Taz shook his head no, and said, “Nah, dog, she's my child. I know her like a book. She's gon' ride with that nigga to the end.”

“So, what are you goin' to do now?” asked Red.

Taz stared at everyone inside of the room for a full two minutes before he spoke. When he did speak, it was barely audible. “If she goes against the grain, I'll kill her myself. I've dedicated my life to take the very best of care of that girl, and I swore when I buried MiMi that I would always take care of her. But, I swear to God, if she rides with that nigga against me, I'm going to kill her, dog. Real fuckin' talk!”
