“You were right. It is crazy, but I was right too. This, you and me, it’s magic. You can’t deny that.”

“No, I can’t. But I’m not going to move in with you. After only two days.”

“How about three?” he grinned.

Leah laughed. “You’re insane. No.”

“When?”

“I’ve barely got my breath back from… Well, my head is spinning with everything that’s already happened. I need to find my feet, find my balance, work out what I want—”

“You want me.”

“I can’t exactly deny that, now can I?”

Chris shook his head and grinned.

“Regardless I’m not ready to move in with you.”

“Okay, two days is too soon. What about two weeks?”

“Chris!”

“Okay, okay, okay. I’ll back off on the moving in. For now.”

Leah sighed. “You need to give me time.”

“You can have the rest of your life as long as I’m in it.”

“I have no plans to walk away.”

“At least let me clear out a drawer. Leave a toothbrush here. A hairbrush. A box of tampons…”

Leah laughed as she figured he’d meant her to.

“Please.” He tried for a cute pleading face and only succeeded in making her laugh harder. “Pretty please.”

“We’ll see.” She took the last sip of her coffee, rinsed the cup and placed it in the dishwasher. “I have to get to work or I’ll be late.”

“What time do you finish? I’ll pick you up.” Chris ushered her through the connecting door to the garage barely giving her time to grab her handbag.

“The bell goes at three-fifteen, but I usually stay until five to get things marked, lesson plans done, that sort of thing. But you don’t have to get me, Haylee can.”

“That means she has to worry about Meggie’s nap time and dragging her out of the house. It’ll be much simpler if I do it.”

“Is this the part where you make yourself indispensable and I have to agree to move in with you because it seems as though I can’t live without you?” she asked as she slid into the passenger seat.

“Hmm… Never thought of that. It’s a good plan. I’ll get right on it.” He shut her door and walked around to the driver’s side, got behind the wheel. “One thing.”

“What?”

“Can I at least tell everyone you’re my girlfriend?”

She turned to face him. “Is that what you want? For me to be your girlfriend?”

“I want everything you’ll give me, but I’m pretty sure you won’t like it if I go around telling people you’re my future wife.” Chris started the car and hit the button to raise the roller door behind them. He reversed out of the garage like he hadn’t lobbed a conversation grenade between.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to your level of honesty. It’s almost like you say things for shock-value, but I know that’s not it. You just don’t seem to have a filter between your thoughts and your mouth.”

Chris braked, put the car into park and turned towards her. “I don’t like bullshit. I say what I mean and mean what I say.”

“I’m getting that.”

“Then you know it’s not BS when I tell you I want it all with you.”

“But I’m not ready for that.”

“I know.”

“Then why do you keep bringing it up?”

“I’m not doing it to push you.” He sighed, ran a hand over the back of his neck. “I don’t want to hide what I feel for you or what I want. It feels like a lie to even try. But I will. For you.”

Leah didn’t want that. She wasn’t sure exactly what it was she did want, but Chris being anyone but himself wasn’t it. “No. I’ll have to get used to it.”

“So…” He grinned at her. “You’re my girlfriend?”

“I guess I am.” Leah smiled. “And don’t think I didn’t notice that you rushed me out of your house without my overnight bag.”

He reached over and pulled her close while leaning in. “You did, huh?”

“Yes.” His fingers massaged the back of her neck. “I’m on to you.”

“You better keep a close eye on me. Who knows what other kind of magic I’ve got up my sleeve?” His warm breath fanned over her lips. But he didn’t touch her.

“Are you going to kiss me?”

“Is that what you want?”

“Yes.”

Chris laughed. “What better magic is there than a kiss from Kringle?”

Secret Confessions: Backstage—Jet
Rhian Cahill

An all-access pass to Sex, Love, and Rock ‘N Roll. Because what happens on tour doesn’t always stay on tour…

From Australia to the world…

Chicago. The last stop of their wildly successful US tour sees Australia’s biggest rock band, The Screaming Tuesdays, in sultry, summertime Chicago to play two sold-out shows. But the stage is not where the action is, and no one knows what goes on behind the scenes…

Jet’s never seen a woman project ‘No Touching’ quite so effectively as Charlie, the music journalist travelling with the band. He’s never been into the chase, but there’s something about Charlie that just won’t let him go. Now that the tour is winding down, there’s only one order of business left—an in-depth interview that’s about to go a lot deeper than either of them expect.

A Touch of Frost
Rhian Cahill

International bestselling author Rhian Cahill kicks off a steamy new holiday series about a very Christmassy company and the three directors who need more than a little mistletoe.

Jack had a great reason to be over Christmas: it’s not seasonal blues, it’s his family business, and there’s only so much tinsel you can have in your life without feeling bah humbug about it.

But this year is different. He’s home after a long absence, with fences to mend, bridges to build and a commitment to change he intends to keep.

Elle loves Christmas, and she is not about to let an arrogant Scrooge like Jack Frost ruin it for her. He might have her libido flashing like fairy lights, but she’s been burned by a guy on the rebound before and she doesn’t need a Boxing Day-bargain boyfriend.

But there’s more than a little magic in mistletoe, and it may just see Elle and Jack ringing in a very happy new year.

Base
Cathleen Ross

The world’s gone to hell, and her only chance of survival is the sexy, dominant soldier determined to keep her safe…

Doctor Ruth Parker has always taken care of herself, and that’s what she’s doing now, hiding out in her apartment and avoiding her neighbours: once privileged Mosman residents, now flesh-eating braindeads, thanks to the virus that’s turned her world—and everyone else’s—to hell.

Captain Jack Lang has always taken care of others, and with the newly secured Base he and his loyal commandos control the only safe place in the city. But the Base has needs that he can’t meet—doctors. And women. So when he discovers Ruth and her two friends in an unsafe apartment, he brings them back to Base where he knows he can keep them safe, and where he will do anything to make them stay.
