Alice sighed and lay back down against him.  She closed her eyes; it was not hard to imagine how her passion would grow under her Master's tutelage.  To fully open herself to this man, though—that was the hard part.  She shuddered at the knowledge of how very vulnerable it would make her.

"Tell me your thoughts," Victor ordered.

"I'm afraid.  Oh, not of the pain or the humiliation.  I'm afraid to lay myself open to you emotionally.  How can I trust?" she whispered, now burying her face in his neck.  If she kept talking, she was afraid she'd start to cry.

"Pretty Alice, this will not be easy.  Only you can decide if you are strong enough, brave enough, to face this challenge.  Be forewarned that I will demand all of you; I will not settle for less."

"I know," she nodded.  "I have a request, Master."

"Yes?" Victor said, encouraging her to speak.

"I would ask that we try new things in private first before we do them publicly."

"I will think about it, my dear," Victor said, patting her on the bottom.  "Now I believe I have a promise to fulfill, one that I'm very much looking forward to."  He tipped her backward onto the bed and lifted her skirt, staring at her hidden treasure.  The aroma of her arousal tickled his nostrils.  He bent down over her, his mouth connecting with her delicate tissue as he began to lick.

Alice gasped and then began to moan.  What he was doing felt so very good.  It was like Victor was truly following a treasure map and exploring all of her hidden, secret, sensitive spots.  It didn't take much time before she was screaming out her pleasure, calling his name and spiraling into oblivion.

Alice stayed until the very end of the night, helping stack chairs on tables after the club closed.  She had come prepared to stay the night this time if Victor asked, remembering how lonely he'd looked when she left his house the night they'd slept together.  There was something so dear about the man that she could hardly bear it.

Sure enough, Victor took her by the hand, and she followed him through the building, helping to lock up.  Katt was nowhere to be found.  If she'd left, she must have gotten a ride with someone else.  Victor led Alice to his living quarters and they spent the night together, recreating the scene they'd performed at the club.  This time, though, Alice did not pull away when Victor whispered that he was about to come.  She took him deeply down her throat and finished making love to the man she was coming to adore.

Chapter Eight

"I don't know how I let you talk me into this."

Katt was staring around the convention center, taking in the sights and sounds of one of the largest gathering of Star Trek fans in the country.  She'd been skeptical when Alice had pitched the idea to her and didn't feel any more confident as she took in the crowd.

"It's going to be great," Alice reassured her.  "Did you know that over fifty percent of Americans consider themselves Star Trek fans?"

"Right." Katt scowled, stopping to stare at the Klingons.

"Stay away from those guys," Alice hissed.  "Don't even make eye contact with them."

Katt looked at her strangely and then laughed.  "You are so funny!" she said.  Just then an unusual duo caught Alice's eye, and she grabbed Katt's arm.

"Look at the excellent Sarek!"

"Sarek?" Katt asked.

"Spock's father."  The tallest Lieutenant Uhura she'd ever seen accompanied him.  Sarek turned to look at her, and she found herself looking into a familiar pair of bright blue eyes.

"Victor?" Alice shrieked, almost falling backwards in shock.  And Uhura was none other than Bellissima, who was now kissing a laughing Katt, who then held her at arm's length to admire her outfit.

"Nice legs.  Where's the rest of your uniform, soldier?"

"Hey, darlin' it was the '60's, and the show was on a tight budget," Bellissima said.  "Hence the mini-skirt."

"Who dragged who to this thing?" Alice asked the two men.  Bella raised his hand.

"I thought Victor would make a great Sarek.  He has the aloof sneer down pat."

"But Sarek's eyes are green," Katt informed them.

"Are you sure?" Bellissima asked.

"They're dark, but they're green," Katt assured him.  All three of them turned to stare at her now.

"How did you know that?" Alice asked.  Then her eyes grew wide.  "Oh my God.  You're a Star Trek fan, too!"

"I never said I wasn't," Katt replied saucily, linking her arm in Bellissima's.  They walked towards the vendor booths as the camera crew followed her.

Alice giggled at the Vulcan Victor.  He had the decency to look embarrassed, which only made her laugh harder.  Then she stopped laughing; she had to admit that Victor really did look magnificent in his pointed ears.  He had brushed his curls into waves, and for the first time she noticed how much gray he had in his hair.  Vulcans had always turned her on.  She felt like she had an erection, her clit was so swollen.  Now she had empathy for men who had got aroused at inconvenient moments and wondered for the umpteenth time how they managed to walk around with those ridiculous things between their legs.  She couldn't imagine sporting an eight-inch long, incredibly sensitive clitoris.

"You look hot, my Vulcan Master," she said.  "Really hot."

"Thanks," Victor answered, a little shyly.  "Bella instructed me to inform any interested women that I am in … what did he call it … Pon Farr."

"Ooooh, you naughty Master!  You are not allowed to tell anyone that but me."

"But what does it mean?" he asked, puzzled.  Alice grabbed his arm, still laughing, and they walked after Katt.

"A Vulcan male has a seven year mating cycle." Alice explained to Victor.  "They must take a mate every seven years or die trying.  It's a fact the Star Trek world was informed of forty-five years ago, and we are still obsessed with it."

"Aaaaah," Victor said.

Alice had the camera crew wander around and film anyone who looked especially titillating.  There were two pretty young blond girls dressed in sexy blue uniforms from the
Mirror, Mirror
episode of the original series.  There was a green woman wearing next-to-nothing who was a particular favorite of the camera crew.

The convention coordinators came and talked to Katt on camera.  They also interviewed a couple of the actors who were signing autographs.  Alice kept busy getting everyone to sign waivers.  As an afterthought, she had Katt interview Victor and Bella just to see if any of the viewers would realize that 'Sarek' was the Dom from The Beaten Path.

They filmed until late and then spent hours at the studio, going over footage.  Alice was the last one to leave and decided to drop by The Beaten Path.  At the door, the bouncer recognized her and waved her on in.  It was late, so the club was in full swing.  Scenes were going on all around her, but as she turned a corner, one made her freeze in place:  a naked young woman strapped to a spanking bench was screeching and crying as her Dom striped her bottom with a hand whip.  Alice instantly recognized the hooded cape he was wearing and the shoulder-length black hair when the hood fell away.

Victor.

His back was to her, and she started to call out, but at that moment he leaned over the woman, who cried out and jerked forward, as if penetrated.

She could barely see through her tears as she ran from the club.  How could Victor do this?  Her shoulders heaved with suppressed sobs as she pulled the car from the parking lot. She never would have opened herself up so completely, physically or emotionally, if she'd known he'd continue to play with other women.  Hadn't he promised her he wouldn't do that?

No Alice
, she scolded herself once she was belted into her car,
he told you the very first night that he sometimes played with experienced subs.  He never said he'd stop because you were now his sub.

Alice made it onto the freeway before she completely broke down into tears.  Were all men unfaithful?  Had she been naïve to leave her husband when no man could be trusted?  No, she refused to believe that.  She knew men who would never cheat on their wives.  Some of her best friends were married to them, plus she was sure her father had never cheated on her mother.  She wasn't Victor's wife, though.  He owed her nothing.

By now she was crying so hard that she couldn't see to drive.  She pulled off the freeway, into a gas station, and sat there sobbing.  She wanted to call someone.  She reached for her phone.  Katt would still be up.  She dialed her number, but Katt didn't pick up.  She couldn't go home like this and face her mother.  Her married girlfriends?  They barely talked to her anymore.  Ray?  With shaking fingers she dialed his number, and as soon as she heard his voice she started crying harder.  Ray asked her where she was and told her that he would come get her.

Within a half-hour, she was sitting in her old living room, crying on Ray's shoulder.  It was late on Saturday night, and he'd been home alone, just as he'd said he would be.  Ray kissed away her tears and tried to get her to tell him what was wrong.  She refused to tell him anything, though.  Before she knew it, they were naked, and he was on top of her.  She stopped crying as he entered her with his usual vigor and complete lack of finesse.  Alice held him to her and enjoyed the ride for what it was.  Afterwards he helped her to bed and she fell asleep, back in her old room in her old house, feeling comforted.

She woke up to the sun coming in through the blinds.  She sat up and looked around, instantly regretting what she'd done.  Then she remembered Victor's betrayal.  She got up and took a shower and redressed.  Now she'd have to do the walk of shame home.  She could only imagine what her mother would have to say this time.

When she came downstairs, she could smell bacon and coffee.  She thought about just sneaking out and running for it, but then she heard Ray rustling around in the kitchen, and curiosity overcame her.  She peeked inside.  Was he … cooking?  She couldn't believe it; the man would occasionally show off at the grill during a party, but he had always left the bulk of the cooking to her. She watched him with disbelief.  He had a pile of bacon draining on a paper towel and was just finishing up some slightly undercooked scrambled eggs.

"Oh hi there, I heard the shower running," he said, cheerfully.  "Sit, sit, sit.  I have breakfast ready; your timing is perfect."

She sat at the table, looking around in shock.  It was completely set, down to the placemats, silverware, and napkins.  As she watched, he placed a platter of perfectly-cooked bacon on the table.  By the time the eggs made it to her plate, they were perfectly cooked as well.  Toast followed, and now he was at the fridge, fetching butter, jelly, and marmalade.  He set them down and then poured her a cup of coffee.  It was a dazzling display of domesticity.  Alice looked at him with her mouth hanging open.

Ray chuckled.  "I've learned to cook, babe.  I was sitting at home, starving and sick to death of microwaved frozen food.  I kept watching the Cooking Channel.  It looked easy and delicious, and out of desperation I gave it a try.  Now I really enjoy it.  Try the eggs."

She leaned over and took a bite.  They were perfect.

"Paula Deen—she doesn't put milk in her scrambled eggs—just a dash of water, salt and pepper.  Good, huh?"

Alice nodded.  The food was delicious; she couldn't deny it.

"This is very nice, Ray.  Really good.  I'm proud of you.  And thanks for coming to get me last night and letting me cry on your shoulder.  I needed you, and you came through."

Ray preened with pride.  "And we had a pretty good time too, huh?"  He waggled his eyebrows at her, suggestively.

Alice sighed.  "Yes, that was … fun … too," she admitted, reluctantly.

"We're good together; face it, babe," Ray added.

Alice looked away, not ready to walk this particular conversational path just yet.  She looked around the kitchen.  It looked pretty clean, and she noticed that he'd removed the curtains and installed new blinds, something they'd discussed doing before they split up.  He was not just keeping the house up, but was making improvements

When they finished eating, Ray put his hands on hers.

"Honey, the holidays are almost here.  The girls will be home soon for Thanksgiving and then for a month at Christmas.  Wouldn't it be great if we could all spend it together here, as a family?"

Alice looked at him; he seemed truly sincere.  And the thought of getting together to give the girls a family Christmas was certainly tempting.  She could feel the coldness in her heart beginning to melt.  She had nothing keeping her from giving it another try.  Victor was out of her life.  She certainly couldn't open herself up to him any further, knowing that she was just one of a harem of subs he apparently kept.

"I'll think about it, OK?" she answered.

Ray looked thrilled.  He jumped to his feet and started clearing the dishes.

"I'll go get my purse, and you can take me to my car, if you don't mind," Alice called from the living room.

As they were driving to get her car, Ray apologized.  "Our marriage sucked.  I know that now.  There are things I look back on and just cringe about.  I was a cave man.  I don't know how you stood me all those years.  If you came back, things would be so different.  I'd do my share around the house and not expect you to do everything.  It would be like two equals living together, not a traditional married couple.  Wouldn't that be nice?  And think of all the fun we could have when the girls went back to school.  We could start fresh, get reacquainted, forge a new, better relationship.  That Alaskan cruise we've always wanted to take?  Together we could afford it.  How about it?  There's nothing stopping us now!  Our best years are ahead of us."

They pulled into the gas station and he stopped next to her car.

"I said I'd think about spending the holidays together.  That's all I can promise for now." Alice replied, noncommittally.

"I know.  I understand, and I appreciate it."  Ray leaned towards her and gave her a kiss.  She sighed and let herself lean in to it.  He always had been a good kisser.  Afterwards he hugged her and said in her ear, "I've been so lonely, Alice.  Nothing mattered once you left.  It was a wakeup call.  Please think about all I've said."
