“Spencer all this is amazing, I never expected I´d be sipping
champagne on a beautiful yacht tonight, thank you.”
Destiny raised her champagne flute towards Spencer’s and they
both raised their voices in tandem, “Chin Chin!”
“I bet your wondering how a guy who works in a restaurant
could afford all this luxury right.”
Destiny gazed in to Spencer’s large playful brown eyes.
“Well the thought had crossed my mind, but I thought it would
be too impolite to mention.”
“The yacht belongs to my father, he lends it to me occasionally,
but only when I assure him I’ll take great care of it!”

“Wow
, it’s beautiful, you’re very lucky. I see someone’s keen
on astrology, I don’t think I have ever seen a telescope of that
size before”

The telescope belongs to me, I’ve been studying our wonderful
solar system since I was a child, funny really it was my old man
who got me hooked from been five years old, around the time
my mother died, I would ask if he was looking for my mum in
the sky!”

Destiny sensed a deep sadness when Spencer mentioned the
death of his mother and didn’t want to pursue it by asking how
she died, but didn’t really want to change the subject as she
didn’t want to appear insensitive so she broached it slowly.

“I am sorry to hear about your mother, you must miss her a lot.”

Destiny saw Spencer’s
eyes filling up a little and automatically
felt a deep sense of regret, maybe she should have just kept her
big mouth shut.
Spencer reached for her hand and began stroking it.

To be honest I can barely remember her, I only have a few dear
memories of her, as I was really young when she died, it was my
father who brought me up. I miss never having a mother
around, but my father did his best to raise me and my younger
brother who was only a year old at the time!”

“Well it looks like your father did a good job raising you into
the perfect gentleman!”

“He had his moments but there was one thing my father insisted
on was that he would raise us to have manners as he would
remind us they cost nothing and they were an essential part of
living.”

Spencer raised his glass to this and Destiny joined him.
“Okay enough about me, tell me a little about you!”

Destiny suddenly found herself opening up to Spencer in a way
she had never opened up to anyone else before, she mentioned
her childhood, Ella and Chase and her estranged parents. She
told Spencer the story of her father leaving and how it affected
her mother, sister and brother. Before she knew it they were
enjoying their second bottle of champagne and she felt a great
sense of ease talking and sharing their childhood’s memories
with one another. She discovered that Spencer’s father was very
wealthy, his father was in property and development and it was
his father’s old fashioned work ethos that had Spencer working
at Fargo’s, so he could learn the value of money.

They slowly started bonding and getting to know each other.
Destiny slowly letting her guard down, as she sensed Spencer
was doing the same, or was it the delightful champagne? They
spent the evening gazing at the stars, Destiny learnt that there
were many different stars in the night sky, they could see more
of them because they were in a dark country, whereas in the city
they’re not as visible, they could be a hundred or two hundred
times bigger than the sun and at the end of a stars life they can
stretch out past the orbit of the planet Uranus, some of the older
stars are smaller than the earth. Spencer mentioned the different
planets of the solar system, his favorite was the planet Venus, he
explained to her in astronomy mythology, Venus was the Roman
goddess of love and beauty, In Greek her name was Aphrodite.
They both named their very own star, it was so romantic she
knew she would never forget this night; she was suddenly
curious and asked, “Why did you want me to bring an overnight
night bag?”

“Destiny, the night is still young yet and I promise I’ll let you
know before the evenings over, how does that sound?”
Destiny couldn’t help but smile in excitement and agreed.

As the air became breezy and chilly they both retired to the
lower deck where they sat and picked on smoked salmon pin
wheels and various cream cheeses along with hot crispy French
baguettes.

“Did you make all this wonderful snacks yourself?”

“Of course I wouldn’t have it any other way, although I’ve gotta
admit working at Fargo’s has certainly inspired me and
influenced my great love of food. You could say I’m a bit of a
snack food connoisseur I’m always experimenting with food and
decoration!”

They both grew closer together on the oversized leather couch
discussing their favorite foods, Spencer slowly put his arm over
Destiny’s shoulder and Destiny lightly stroked the corners of his
hand. For a while they were both content enjoying the intimacy
of closeness. Destiny wanted to kiss him with all the passion
that was building up within her but she waited for Spencer to
make the first move. They both sat in silence enjoying the view
of the stars from inside the window cabins. Destiny felt herself
getting slightly sleepy, Spencer sensed this, and led her hand in
hand to her cabin; it was lit with candles and filled with a dozen
red roses.

“For the lovely lady in my life, welcome to your sleeping
quarters for the evening, I hope you’ll find everything you need
here, I am just in the next cabin on the left if you need
anything!”

Spencer planted a cheeky kiss on the side of
Destiny’s cheek
and let out a tiny giggle, making his way to his own quarters.
Destiny gently closed her cabin door and lent against the back of
it, taking the glorious evening in, it was like a dream, she didn’t
want it to end. Spencer had behaved like the perfect gentleman,
this was something she really admired about him, she could
easily get used to this, and however the more Spencer treated her
like a lady the more she desired him. She wondered if he
desired her in the same way! She hoped so, although he had
showered her with affection, he made no sexual advances what
so ever, this had her doubting whether he is attracted to her or
not?

Looking around her cabin she discovered, there were
photographs of his father and younger brother, they all shared an
uncanny resemblance, and there was a photograph of a striking
beautiful lady with long blonde hair, her eyes were the lightest
shade of blue that Destiny had ever seen. Then she realised that
this must have been Spencer’s mother, the woman in the
photograph looked so happy Destiny wondered how she had
died, and how tragic her death was and leaving a twelve month
baby without his mother.

Destiny sank into the soft feather filled ivory bedding
reminiscing of their wonderful evening together, she felt like she
was in another world when she was around Spencer and
although this was only their first date she felt like they had
known each other for years, she could easily connect with him,
felt comfortable and special in his company, he had this magic
of making her feel like she was the only person in the room with
him. Maybe she was falling in love, but then what did she know
about love?

She found herself woken by a brief tap on the cabin door,
struggling to adjust her sleepy eyes, she wondered for a moment
where she was? Had she fallen into such a deep sleep? Or was
she losing her bearings and then suddenly the evening before all
came back to her, she was on a yacht for Christ sakes with the
irresistible Spencer.

“Just a moment Spencer, I’ll be right out.”

Before she could summon up the strength to make it out of bed
to answer the door, Spencer had already entered carrying a
breakfast tray.

“There’s no need for you to get up I thought I’d
surprise you
with breakfast in bed, besides you’re gonna need your energy
today!”

Looking at the tray she could see there was the full Monty,
croissants with fresh jam and cream, bacon, eggs, tomatoes,
lightly fried mushrooms, hot steamy toast she could also smell
the fresh scent of coffee. She noticed that the tray was set for
two.

“How delightful, I couldn’t think of a better companion
. So
what have you planned for us today, it all sounds rather
strenuous?”
Destiny silently cursed herself, she was hoping she would get
the chance to at least look presentable before she met him again
in the morning; she didn’t want him getting the shock of his life
seeing her makeup free, her hair standing up all over the place,
how awful she must look to him now. She reluctantly moved
over to allow room next to her on the bed as if sensing her
thoughts; Spencer held her chin up towards his handsome face
with one hand, balancing the tray on the other hand perfectly.

“May I add you look incredibly radiant first thing on a morning,
I was hoping I’d get this chance to witness your natural beauty!”
Destiny turned her head away in shame, unable to meet his eyes.

“Oh Spencer, you’re
such a natural charmer, such compliments
at this hour will get you everywhere. I usually look like shit first
thing in a morning!”

Spencer burst out laughing to hide his embarrassment.
“Now let’s tuck in, before it gets cold, we have quite a day
ahead of us yet!”

Destiny c
ouldn’t help but kiss him on the side of his cheek, this
time she didn’t blush, he glanced at her in wonderment and
suddenly they both embraced their lips into a long sensuous kiss,
she could feel her lips melt into his and her tongue find his, the
heat, the shortness of breath as if they both stopped breathing in
anticipation for this moment to last forever, they came to a
natural stop and just gazed in to one another’s eyes, for what
seemed like an eternity both saying nothing, just lost in time.
He gently moved away holding her hand.

“Let’s eat before it gets cold!”

They both devoured the breakfast saying very little but showing
more affection than ever before. She noticed he was wearing a
thick green hooded sweater with their university logo embodied
on the back, navy blue jeans and some very sensible boots, with
a thick tread wondering what he had planned for them today.
Once finished with breakfast, orange juice and coffee Spencer
began to clear up the mess they had mad, making his way out of
the room.

“Meet me in half an hour on the upper deck and don’t forget to
wear something warm!”
“Yes, Captain!”

Destiny dashed into the shower pinn
ing her hair up as she didn’t
have time to wash it, half an hour would just give her enough
time to look halfway presentable praising the fact that she had
packed a few cashmeres and her favorite duffle coat. There was
nothing more motivating than been kept in the dark when it
came to surprises, how she enjoyed been kept on her toes. She
managed to apply a little Clinique foundation to her flawless
skin, adding an injection of bronzer to her cheeks, applied some
cherry pink lipstick, satisfied with the natural look, she was
ready for action. Curiosity getting the better of her she leaped to
the top of the boat, already breathless when she reached
Spencer, he gave her the once over from head to toe, nodding in
approval of her choice of clothing, handing her a diagram of the
boat.

“Today we are gonna sail this wonderful vessel, have you ever
sailed a boat before Destiny?”
She gazed at him in sheer amazement, not quite believing in
what she was hearing, excitement, and nervousness gripping her.

“No, I’ve
never sailed a boat before, only had the pleasure of
been a passenger on numerous occasions. Are you serious? Oh
my god this will be a super challenge, where the heck do I
start?”

“Well today we
´re gonna make history, but first I’ve gotta
explain a few things in order for our trip to go as smooth as
possible!”

Destiny bit the corners of her inner mouth, she was in shock she
never expected this, suddenly her nerves started to kick in.

Shit, but I’ve no idea on how to sail a boat or yacht, I don’t
even know if there is a difference? I am terrified at the very
prospect, what if I mess up? What if we drown?”

Spencer placed his hands on each of her shoulders stroking the
sides of her arms.

“There’s not much chance of that my lovely, don’t worry you’ll
do just fine, I was as scared as you my first time but trust me
there’s nothing to worry about, besides helps on its way, there’ll
be four of us sailing today, come sit down with me, I’ll explain
some of the diagram to you!”

Spencer led her to the starboard of the boat reassuring her that
she didn’t have to do anything if she didn’t like she could just sit
back watch and learn if she wanted.

Destiny
began to loosen up a little, but still couldn’t help biting
onto the inside of her mouth, a nervous trait she developed as a
child and hadn’t quite grown out of yet. Once Spencer was
finished explaining the diagram, she decided that she´d put on a
brave face and try to enjoy this new experience and learn from it
all she could. While she was having her moment of clarity she
noticed a middle aged man, dressed in white accompanied with
a tall looking teenage guy walking on the pier towards the yacht,
she recognised them immediately from the photographs inside
her cabin, oh my god was she about to meet Spencer’s family?

Before she had the time to mull this over in her head she heard
Spencer calling her to the lower deck to meet their guests.

“Destiny may I introduce you to my father and brother Paul
?”
Destiny shook hands with them both whilst lightly blushing.

“Hi, it’s a pleasure to meet you both, may I take this opportunity
to thank you for having me aboard this great boat!”

“The pleasure
s all mine, Spencer’s just informed me that you’ve
never sailed before my dear it that correct?”
“Yes, Mr Pratt that’s right, I must apologise for my inexperience
and naivety.”

“Oh please call me Anthony, and threes no need for
apologies
my dear. Now let me tell you something, you don’t have a thing
to worry about, I have been sailing these murky waters for a
long time now, for well over twenty years, in fact the first boat I
had wasn’t a patch on this one and I’ll give you my word we´ll
be as safe as houses.”
