I'm assuming it's smell rather than a subtle behavioral cue because I don't
think
a person would show tiny behavioral changes indicating that her blood sugar is getting dangerously low when she's asleep. But of course I don't know. If diabetics do have tiny behavioral changes when their blood sugar is low, a dog is going to be more likely to spot them than a person.
