Chapter Six: Mail Time

Jeremy’s face grew with confusion. Nova didn’t exactly explain what she knew, instead she kissed Jeremy’s face and got comfortable on the couch. “Know what,” Jeremy questioned her as she made his way to her. She smiled and grabbed his arm, as though she was ready for another go with him. Jeremy wasn’t having it, however. He grabbed her arm and stopped her from making the move she was about it make.

Nova was filled with love. She was in the presence of the man that saved her life. Not to mention, ridded her of the horrible person that was Cole. Nova wanted Jeremy. She needed him. At that time, Nova didn’t care if Jeremy was her step-brother or not. To her, he was her hero. Before Jeremy stopped her, she stroked his face, kissed his neck and did pretty much everything else to tell him she wanted him. As much as Jeremy appreciated it, he wanted to know what Nova was talking about.

Jeremy asked his question again and Nova’s facial expression quickly changed. Instead of the smiling, flirty face, Nova’s face grew serious. She went on to explain what happened after he abruptly left that night. “I was worried, Jeremy. I didn’t know if you were hurt,” she confided in Jeremy. Nova hugged him and whispered, “I saw what you did,” into his ear. Jeremy’s heart skipped a beat, his stomach practically flipped, his feet felt numb. He wondered how she had seen.

Nova seemed weirdly okay with the entire thing. She didn’t seem scared, upset or uncomfortable. Actually, she seemed to be feeling the opposite of these feelings. Jeremy connected eyes with her, “You saw everything?” Jeremy questioned her, hoping she was talking about something else. Jeremy tended to get his hopes over silly things, obviously.

Instead of answering Jeremy’s question, Nova leaned forward and grasped his extremely obvious bulge. She pressed her lips against his and slowly kissed him, while massaging where she had grabbed. Jeremy gave in and began kissing Nova back. She climb atop him and grinded on his lap. Jeremy grabbed Nova’s breasts, slapped her ass and ripped her pants off. Their excitement grew and grew, along with their passion for one another.

Nova wrapped her legs around Jeremy’s waist as he lifted her up. He carried her to his bedroom and laid her on his bed. This time was different than before. It had more passion, more love attached to it. Jeremy wasted no time. He pulled his pants off and slide right into Nova. They kissed as Jeremy thrust into her, pushing the bed against the wall over and over. Nova moaned, Jeremy panted, and their bodies were covered in one another’s perspiration.

It lasted for what seemed like hours. Jeremy pulled every move he could think of, and Nova let him do every single one. They laughed, kissed and thrust into one another. Nova never put so much movement into a sexual act into this time. She threw herself onto Jeremy and bounced her body up and down. Jeremy moaned in pleasure, lifted Nova up and came all over her leg.

The two laid, exhausted on Jeremy’s bed. They smiled and kissed each other. “Wow,” Nova exclaimed as she sat up, to look for her clothes. Jeremy laid feeling satisfied and very happy. Nova stood from the bed and gathered her clothes together. “Food?” Nova mentioned as she slide her black panties back on. Jeremy smiled as Nova threw his boxers at him. The two made their way to Jeremy’s kitchen, where he began making the two a frozen pizza. He was always the romantic.

Nova sat silent on Jeremy’s couch, which made Jeremy worry. He feared he wasn’t good, or that she felt that she made a mistake. He handed Nova a glass of water and sat down on the couch next to her. He kissed her cheeks and neck, she didn’t seem to resist. She kissed him back and told him how much she enjoyed what had just happened. Although Nova spoke happy words, her eyes and body language told Jeremy a different story.

“There’s something else I need to tell you,” Nova said as she stared at the floor. Jeremy took a deep breath and let Nova speak. “I got a letter in the mail today,” Nova began. Nova had begun applying to schools across the country, one being her dream school in New York. “It’s an acceptance letter,” Nova continued. Jeremy grew with excitement, he was so proud of her. Though, he wondered why she seemed so down about the subject. She pulled the letter out and smiled. “My dream came true,” Nova smiled, as tears dropped from her eyes. Jeremy knew that meant only one thing. Nova was going to New York. He grew happier and happier as she continued to speak.

“So, when do we leave?” Jeremy was so happy. He thought he was going to start a whole new life in New York with Nova. She would be an aspiring artist and he would support her. Nova’s face grew with confusion, “We?” He realized he misunderstood completely. “I think me being accepted tells us that this will never work,” Nova confessed to him. Jeremy suddenly felt nauseous. She couldn’t possibly mean that this was over? Jeremy had put so much of his emotion into it, he couldn’t handle it being taken away so quickly. “You have your life here,” Nova continued. “You’re going to school, you have a job. You deserve to stay here.”

“I’m sorry, Jeremy,” Nova said. She kissed his forehead, gathered her things and exited Jeremy’s apartment. She seemed so persistent on her decision, that Jeremy didn’t ask any questions. He was shocked. For the next few hours, Jeremy sat on his couch, analyzing what had just happened. His chest tightened, his head ached and his stomach flipped. He wanted to chase her and tell her that he needed to be with her. However, he wanted her to be happy too. All night, Jeremy sat confused and torn with what he should do about Nova.

Chapter Seven: Take Off

Nova sat on her plane to New York. Her eyes were filled with tears as she thought about what she was leaving behind. She hated herself for ending things with Jeremy, but she kept telling herself it was for the best. Flight attendants kept walking down the aisle, offering drinks and snacks to the passengers. Nova asked for a glass of water and some peanuts. She didn’t have the appetite for anything bigger. She just wanted to land and start her new life. She wanted to try to forget all the things from home.

Meanwhile, Jeremy sat in his living rom. He had a large sketch pad sitting on his lap. On the visible page, showed a beautiful portrait of Nova. He had the details perfect on her face. Currently, he was finishing the final touches, although it only upset him more and more. He already missed her so much. The way things ended with them left Jeremy with a bad taste on his tongue. He was in love with that girl. But, maybe that’s why he let her go in the first place.

After landing, Nova was taken to her dorm room. Her roommate seemed okay, however Nova didn’t care about making friends right now. Quite frankly, she wanted to work on her art and go about her business. She would worry about friends later. It didn’t make sense to Nova. She was at the school of her dreams, yet she didn’t feel the excitement she thought she would. Rather, she felt lonely and that something was taken from her.

Her roommate invited her to multiple parties throughout her first few weeks at the school. As much as Nova appreciated it, she didn’t have the energy to go out. Nova talked to her father regularly. She told him that she was homesick, “Maybe this isn’t what I thought it was,” Nova cried to Henry. He calmed her down and let her know it would get better from there. “Give it time, sweetheart,” Henry said. “Go out and have fun. You won’t regret it.”

She decided to take her dad’s advice and go out with her roommate. The girl’s name was Maureen Shecter. Nova thought she was okay. Her voice was a bit squeaky and she talked nonsense in her sleep, but she was nice to Nova. Not to mention, she brought her to some fun parties. Many of them consisted of people dancing to heavy rap music and telling each other how much they loved one another. They were good vibes and Nova enjoyed that.

A few months passed and Nova was having a better experience. She and Maureen, who they called Mo, became very good friends. Her art was being noticed by several different professors and even displayed for the whole school to see. It made Nova feel accomplished and that she was finally getting somewhere. People continuously told her how good she was. “You’re going to be huge,” a male student said to her as he passed by her. She felt amazing.

Jeremy wasn’t doing too badly either. As the months passed, he got more and more popular with his tattooing. He was hired in at a small shop in town and was getting steady business. Nova was on his mind from time to time, but he tried to stay as busy as he could. The two tried to keep in contact as best they could, it just seemed easier than it was. As the two grew busier, the contact grew lesser. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, life just got in their way.

Jeremy always had been afraid of that, but he hoped that things would pick back up. Nova hoped too, but she feared what Henry and Lula would say. In Nova and Jeremy’s eyes, it wasn’t fair. They met before Lula and Henry’s introduction. In the end, Nova and Jeremy just wanted to be together. Jeremy didn’t care what stood in his way.

Henry and Lula sat in their living room, watching their evening programs. They loved life and each other even more. Henry beamed with pride ever since Nova got accepted into the school she did. He was a proud father and he definitely showed it. Suddenly, their front door swung open and Jeremy emerged from outside. He looked like he had seen a ghost. His face look shocked, yet as though he had done something bad. Lula sprung from her chair to see if he was okay. He hugged his mother and told her that he loved her. Then Jeremy sat down on the couch, next to Henry. He looked at him, “I’m sorry for everything, Henry,” Jeremy said.

Henry and Lula grew concerned, figuring something was wrong with Jeremy. Suddenly, Jeremy unloaded. He told Henry and Lula everything that had happened with Nova. He explained how he felt before Henry and Lula met. Jeremy went on and on about how much he loved her and couldn’t get her out of his head. Nova going to New York was the worst that that had happened to him. He felt overwhelmed with emotions, negative ones.

Lula excused herself from the room, without responding to Jeremy. Henry, on the other hand, remained in the room. He look oddly calm and somewhat perplexed. Henry didn’t take his eyes off of Jeremy until he looked to Nova’s picture, which sat on the side table. He grabbed the framed pictured and smiled as he looked at it. “I just want my daughter to be happy,” Henry said. He looked at Jeremy and smiled. “She hasn’t seemed happy,” he grew sad.

He set the picture down and connected eyes with Jeremy again. He leaned forward and grabbed ahold of Jeremy’s arm. It was a firm grip, however Jeremy wasn’t threatened. “Do what is best, Jeremy,” Henry suggested. “Just don’t hurt my daughter,” he demanded. Jeremy smiled as he responded to him, “I wouldn’t dare.”

Chapter Eight: Grade A Artist

Nova sat in her Art History class. Her professor went on and on about various artists in the past. Nova had been doing very well with her paintings. She had even landed some side jobs, painting portraits and other pictures for students and teachers. It wasn’t the dream career she was waiting for, but that was okay. She knew she was working her way there. It made her feel great that people want to buy her art, it kept her mind off of other things. Jeremy always stayed in the back of Nova’s mind. He is what kept her strong. She missed home, however she knew Jeremy wanted her to stay in New York and live her dream.

She had written a letter to Jeremy about her feelings, but never sent it to him. It was full of her feelings towards him and how much she loved him. She never stopped thinking about him, and it started making her sad each day. Thankfully, she had her art to turn to. It was always there for her to go to when she needed to get distracted.

It was Christmas time. Instead of being at home with her family, Nova was busy in New York with an art showcase that was being held. It kept her from going back home between semesters, because of how much work was put into it. She painted several paintings to showcase in her reserved are. Patrons gawked, judges nodded their heads, and students flew to Nova for questions. If judges liked her work, it would mean big things for her. Things such as a piece in the local art museum, on top of other benefits. Her time in school would have really paid off. She started feeling that New York was where she belonged. Maybe she didn’t have to go back home, ever.

After the showcase, she received so much more orders for her personalized paintings. It eventually turned into a small business that became a full time Nova. She couldn’t believe it. Because of her business’ success, she started showing her work in more showcases. Her reputation was booming. People wanted her to paint their children, pets, cars, pretty much anything. They gawked over her work and continuously gave her business.

It was enough to successfully get her started on the next semester. She got needed tools for painting and even purchased a camera. This way she can paint her own pictures. People were buying paintings that she had randomly done at three in the morning. Things that she didn’t even think were good were selling. It truly was a dream come true.

As for Jeremy, he applied to several tattoo shops in various locations to become an artist. He wanted to broaden his horizons and see what they world held for him. Jeremy had to make a few decisions in his life, which meant a huge life adjustment. After having that conversation with Henry, Jeremy had thought a lot. He needed to do what’s best for him. He made choices he knew he would benefit from in the future.

Nova was speaking at the Art Department’s brunch one Thursday morning. She was discussing her thoughts on what could change in the department. Being such a friendly person, who has amazing art skills, the professor wanted to know what was on her mind. Nova suggested things such as painting outside and allowing students to choose more in what they paint during class. She felt empowered and that maybe she would make a difference. After becoming so successful, it was time for her to take things to the next level. She wanted to help the student body, and speaking at the brunch was the first step.

After the brunch, she made her way back to her dorm. For once she didn’t have anything to do. She had finished all the projects that were on her plat at the time. Nothing was on the to-do list, so she planned to have a relaxing day in her room. As she walked across campus, several people waved and shouted “Hi!” at her. It made her feel at home and very welcome at the school she was attending. There were so many people saying things to her and she barely knew any of them. So many unfamiliar voices barked Nova’s named until she heard one voice. All it said was, “Nova”, but she knew exactly who had said it.

She turned around to see Jeremy standing a few feet away from her. “Am I dreaming,” she yelled when she saw him. Jeremy didn’t have time to answer, because Nova was already running into his arms. She was crying, screaming and saying how happy she was. They squeezed each other and twirled as they hugged. The two kissed and expressed how much they love each other. It didn’t matter that things had ended, because the two pretty much picked up where they left off.

Jeremy didn’t say much, instead he soaked in his reunion with Nova. He loved the reaction he got from her and he never wanted to let go. Nova suddenly jumped from his arms and embraced the moment with him. She didn’t need an explanation from Jeremy. It was enough that he was there, with her. This is, in fact, what she wanted all along.

The two walked back to Nova’s dorm, holding hands and smiling from ear to ear. Finally, Nova asked what he was doing here. Jeremy smirked and didn’t respond. He kept Nova waiting until they reached her dorm room. She constantly asked him to tell her immediately, but Jeremy waited for the right time. As they walked into her bedroom, he pulled his backpack off of his back and onto her bed. He withdrew an envelope from within it. He held a letter from the same school Nova attended. Jeremy handed the letter to Nova and laughed as he said, “Say hi to your new classmate.”
