Chapter One: The Break Up

It was a windy, Wednesday evening. Lola Montgomery was sitting, slouched on her large sofa in her apartment. Her hair was a mess and her face was puffy, almost as though she had been crying for quite some time. The apartment resembled the aftermath of a tornado. The tall lamp she used to have in the corner, laid smashed in the center of the room. Her vase her mother had gotten her for her birthday was thrown halfway across the apartment. She had yet to pick up the pieces. Lola was exhausted, however she couldn’t relax. Within the same apartment, just in another room, was Lola’s now ex-boyfriend; whom was to blame for the room being torn to bits. He was yelling at the top of his lungs, which made Lola believe that all of Los Angeles had heard this large spat she was having with Jacob. He was in the middle of packing the rest of his things up and blaming Lola for every problem that occurred within their relationship.

“You shouldn’t have been home then,” Jacob exclaimed as he walked back into the broken living room. He was referring to the night prior when Lola walked in on him cheating on her. The two had been fighting ever since. Of course, what was Lola supposed to do? Continue dating him while he screwed everyone in town? That’s not how Lola rolled at all. Luckily Lola was getting rid of this clown; however she still needed to clean up the mess he created.

After she finally ridded herself of him, her best friend busted through the door. “Nicki!” Lola yelled as Nicki entered the room. They had been best friends since Kindergarten; essentially the two were always there for each other. The two cleaned the huge mess Jacob made, which ended up causing Lola to lose some precious items. He had broken a lot more than Lola had seen, things that were irreplaceable. After seeing this, all Lola wanted to do was forget all about him and delete him from her life.

“Fuck, Jacob!” Lola announced as she threw away the last bit of trash from the living room. Nicki applauded her and agreed right along with her. “Yeah, you could never forget about Sam,” Nicki giggled. Lola immediately grabbed the closest pillow and chucked it at Nicki’s head. Sam Traverse happened to be Lola’s stepbrother, in which Lola always had a crush on. The two knew each other prior to their parent’s marriage, because they had gone to school together their whole lives. Once, they almost dated, however Jacob had gotten in the way. The two had been on and off for too many years too long.

“I know what will cheer you up,” Nicki said as she pulled a DVD from her purse. Lola immediately was grossed out and shielded her eyes. “Ew!” Lola yelled as Nicki held it in the air. “It’s just
Magic Mike
,” Nicki stressed. Lola let out a large sigh of relief. She never did like to look at porn. The movie began to play and the two were immediately sunken into it. They loved the movie so much; it was like they were watching it for the first time, even though they had seen it so many times before.

“We should do this,” Nicki suggested. Lola practically jumped from her seat. Did Nicki seriously want her to start stripping? “You know, go to a male strip club? It’d be fun!” Nicki’s excitement grew larger and larger and she continued to talk about it. Lola, on the other hand, grew more and more disgusted as she talked on. Nicki noticed that Lola wasn’t into the idea at all. She explained how it could help her get back out there after her break up with Jacob. “It couldn’t hurt,” Nicki said.

That weekend Lola found herself at the strip club, “Mascaraed”. It was filled with people, due its popular reputation. All of the dancers had masks covering their faces, but barely anything else on their bodies. Nicki and a bunch of their other girlfriends were sitting around a neon catwalk. The men were so amazing that were on stage. Every one of them caught Lola’s eye and she loved every minute of it. Lola danced, laughed and applauded every dancer that came her way.

Suddenly a very tall, buff dancer made his way to Lola. He got up close and personal with her, putting her face right into his crotch. Nicki handed her a $20 bill and Lola slowly slid it into his neon green thong. He continued to dance around her for a bit. Before he stepped away, their eyes met. The dancer gave Lola a wink and the most breathing taking smirk a person could give another.

The night at the strip club never left Lola’s mind. For weeks, she thought about the encounter she had with the attractive dancer.
