I looked at him, a little impressed and surprised. I wasn’t sure what his angle was about this whole thing. It seemed he was looking out for my best interest, or was it Samantha’s. I couldn’t tell.
“I’ll get both of them on it,” I turned to Daniel and said, “Call Spade and Lanie, explain to them the situation and tell them to get down here now.”
I turned back to Trevor and said, “Thanks for the heads up.”
He nodded and went to sit down.
About three hours later, her doctor came out wiping his hands and with a blank expression on his face. I vowed not to read too much into this and stood up to meet him away from everyone. Although they all stood up, but didn’t approach.
“Are you the fiancé?” the doctor asked.
“Yes, how is she?”
He sighed, “She lost a lot of blood, but I did the best that I could to stop the bleeding. She just came out of surgery, but we are still touch and go at this point, for her and the baby. With the amount of blood that she lost, it’s just too early to tell. We may need to terminate the pregnancy in order to save her.”
“So, you are saying?”
“I’m not trying to say anything, I’m asking, what would she want? She is only about 3 months along, it is nearly impossible to save the child outside of the womb at this point. However, we will try, if that is what she wants.”
As the doctor talked, I went over in my head all the things Samantha said about the pregnancy, her doubts about her motherhood, her career, her goals, then about the change she needed, starting over with him and the baby.
“If you can save the baby, do it. But I want her to be able to make more babies if you can’t. Understand?”
“Understood.” The doctor nodded to confirm, “Keep holding on, we are hard at work.” He turned to leave.
Right after the doctor left, Samantha’s parents came in the room, looking around. I knew the mom right away, because she was a spitting image of her daughter. They had the same eyes, hair, chin, nose, everything. It wasn’t clear what the father contributed to the making of his daughter, because there was no physical evidence of it. I walked up to her mother and introduced myself, she immediately gave me a hug, saying thank you for taking care of Samantha and them. Her father assessed me and shook my hand. They asked for the update from the doctor, so I filled them in with what I knew. I told them that my family would be here in a few hours as well and if they needed a place to stay, they could stay at my hotel or at my place. I had plenty of room and Samantha did say that I could fit a small village in there.
More hours passed and my parents showed up, hugging her parents, sharing their condolences. Then they went off to a corner and started talking more about Samantha and me. I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but I figured if it took the edge of the craziness, then so be it. I went to the nurse’s station to get an update, but they had none. I almost demanded to see the doctor, but Vicki and Elliot came up to me, saying that I should go get some coffee or just rest. I outright refused, but Vicki raised her eyebrow at me and said, “Samantha would be pissed if you caused a stir like this with her parents and yours here. You don’t want to do this.”
I looked up and saw four pair of eyes on me and nodded as I turned to go to the cafeteria. “Call me the minute something changes, I’m going to get coffee.” I turned to make sure they heard me and saw Elliot put his hand on the small of Vicki’s back and guide her over to where the parents were sitting. Something was going on with them. The move was intimate.
Half-way to the elevator, I heard footsteps behind me and saw it was Samantha’s father. We acknowledged each other with a nod, then boarded the elevator and silently went to the cafeteria. After her father took the first sip of coffee, he turned to me and said, “So, what exactly are your intentions for my daughter?”
So much for small talk.
“Well, I love her if that is what you mean?”
“No, love does nothing at the end of the day, when ex-wives, current wives or whatever you call them these days are stabbing my baby.”
Red hot anger boiled under my skin and I knew my face was turning varying shades of red that this was my fault. I already felt like this was my fault, but to have him say it like that, with no tact, just solidified it for me. I guess I know what his daughter did get from him – ‘straight-shooter.’
“Sir, with all due respect, I am beating myself up about this every second. I would have killed that bitch myself, if I didn’t have to ride to the hospital with Samantha.” I started to raise my voice as anger was eating at my resolve.
“Good to hear.” Her father responded.
I continued as if I didn’t hear him. “Short of tying Samantha down to stay with me, move her in, give her a personal driver, buy a house in the suburbs like she wants, marry her, plant my kids in her, I do everything I can to try to keep her safe.” I exhaled, “I could put a chip in her, but have you met your daughter? She would smack me again. She gives me absolute hell if I try to even act like I want to control her life. I usually ignore her, but it’s a hassle every single fucking time.”
Her father smiled and said, “That’s my girl.” He stuck out his hand and said, “Name is Martin.”
I took his hand and said, “Nice to meet you sir.”
“So you want to marry my Sammy?”
“Yes, sir, but –“
“But, what?” her father cut me off.
“She thinks we are too new, she just barely agreed to move in with me yesterday.”
“She’s giving you hell.” He smiled, like he was proud.
“Every single time,” I muttered.
“That’s our mantra,” he proudly stated, “Give ‘em hell!”
I’m glad he thought that was good. I, being the recipient of that hell, did not see that as something to be proud of or something to be a mantra.
“I hear that’s what you do and one of the reasons why you are so successful in your business.” Her father pointed out.
I looked at him square in the face, but didn’t say anything.
He continued, “So, I assume you know why she would in turn do the same to you. She won’t be controlled, she won’t let go, she’ll fight until the battle is over and that’s what I taught her. You would be wise to accept that about her, but strong enough to withstand it to help guide her.”
He looked at me pointedly in the eyes as well.
“She’s not infallible, she will need help and she won’t ask because she has too much pride like her father. However, if a man is any man at all, he’ll embrace that quality, build her up, partner with her and let her soar.” He tipped his coffee cup to me.
“That’s what I hear you have done. That true?” he asked me.
“Yes, sir, I’ve tried.”
“Then you have my blessing. That’s what I want for her, someone that will have her back, won’t let her down and damn sure won’t buckle under pressure. She needs a man, not a boy. She needs to be able to trust him, be safe and secure. Someone who doesn’t take kindly to someone who violates that. If that’s what you provide for her, then we’ll be alright. If you can’t, you can take your billions and your deals and leave my Samantha alone today. She doesn’t want to be rich, she wants to be happy.”
“I make her happy. I can assure you that I not only love her, but I’ll make anyone who comes against her pay dearly. Nobody touches what’s mine and gets away with it.”
“That’s what I want to hear son.” The older man patted me on the shoulder and walked off.
The man was questioning my intentions for Samantha, damn near blamed me for her being here, and gave me my walking papers, but him calling me son, made all of that go away. That was fucked up. He was a concerned father, but one that wanted revenge for this assault and I guess he was trying to find where my loyalties lied. Well, he’d soon find out, they all would.
JOSHUA:
By the next morning, the doctor had informed us that both Samantha and the baby would be okay. They just needed rest at this point, but she should recover remarkably. Later they said we could go in and see her, but one at a time. I didn’t necessarily want to go before her parents did, but the doctor called me, so I told him that her parents were here as well. He waved them over and we entered the room quietly.
“Samantha, honey, you awake?” her mom coaxed.
She blinked, but could barely open her eyes all the way. Her lips were dry and she had tubes in her nose. I hated seeing her like that. My anger started to simmer again. They would pay.
“Honey, can you hear us?” her mom tried again.
Samantha blinked her eyes open and looked around the room like she was trying to get her bearings and didn’t recognize anyone. Her mom and dad were on the left of her and I was on the right side of the bed. Her eyes landed on me and she put her hand on her stomach. I said, “The baby is fine.”
Tears pooled in her eyes.
Smiling and nodding, I repeated, “She’s fine.” Then squeezed her other hand.
She turned her gaze towards her parents and the tears started rolling down to her ears. I reached for a tissue, but her mom just wiped them away. “It’s going to be alright, honey. You are okay, now.”
Her father grabbed on to her hand and said, “We are glad you are okay. Your man Joshua here has been taking care of everything.”
I looked at him as she looked at me. She squeezed my hand back and attempted to smile. Her mom dug in her purse and said, “Here honey,” and put some Vaseline on her lips, then directed me to give her the water.
I put the cup of water with a straw to her mouth. She took a few sips, then stopped. Her mouth had to be dry. I leaned down and said, “The whole gang is here to see you. The doctor says you’ll be alright, you just need to rest.” I amended, “you and the baby.”
“Yes, honey, listen to your man,” her mom chimed.
Samantha rolled her eyes slowly and they almost stayed closed.
“I’m just t-tired,” she croaked.
“Okay, babe, we’ll leave you be so you can rest, I’ll let the doctor know you were awake okay.”
I leaned down and kissed her on the forehead, her mother and father followed my lead, did the same thing and we left.
They kept Samantha in the hospital for an entire week, so that is where I stayed, the hospital. She was awake and more alert, but it would take her stomach some time to heal. The doctor said she was lucky, because since the baby was only about 13 weeks, it was still low in the belly. Had she been further along, it would have been detrimental to both the baby and Samantha.
My parents and Samantha’s parents all stayed at the penthouse, which is another reason why I stayed at the hospital until they kicked me out when visiting hours were over. My number twos and threes were able to handle things for the week and once the news got out about the assault, since we were the first to share it, we were able to put whatever type of spin on it we wanted. A deranged ex assaulted Mr. Kelly’s girlfriend. Charges were being pressed and Ms. Wilde was recovering. Vicki was holding the fort down at S&W, not that Samantha wasn’t trying to do business from the hospital bed. I forbade her, but she was trying to sneak phones from the nurses and other patients.
When she finally came home, both sets of parents were still there, ready to drive me and her crazy. On the first night, she told me to tell them to leave. I reminded her that she said I could fit a small village in here. She hit me on the arm and asked when I ever listened to her. I told her all the time. By the next week, both Samantha and I were done with them. We had a family dinner and I told them that their respective jets would be departing the next morning at 10:00 AM. They all laughed and continued to eat. Samantha and I looked at each other in confusion. That night, she
told
me again to make sure they boarded those jets. I couldn’t have agreed more and around 7:00 AM that morning, I was banging on doors and dishing out breakfast to-go bags, along with hugs and thank yous. Samantha was sitting on the couch waiting for kisses, hugs and thank yous as well. On their way out, her father said “way to be subtle.” I told him I learned it by watching him. We laughed and he gave me a man hug with one arm and one shoulder.
When they left, we both sat on the couch and sighed. She laid in my lap and went to sleep. I put my head back and joined her.
The doctor said it would be two weeks before we could do anything sexual, because usually the stomach muscles contracted when having sex, orgasms, etc. Samantha actually groaned, but I didn’t want her to experience any discomfort. So, I relieved myself in the shower daily. Sam was trying to offer me a blow job, but I kept refusing her, which also made her frustrated.
When the two weeks were up, I treated her and Roslyn to a day at the spa. She was about to go stir crazy being cooped up in the penthouse for three weeks and with me at that. I wouldn’t let her out of my site and now Larry was with her at all times. He too, was not just a driver, but former Special Forces. One can never be too careful. When she returned from the spa, we drove to the airport, where we boarded my jet so I could take her away.
It was a surprise to her, so she went along gracefully. She slept most of the way, but woke up when we were landing.
“Can you tell me now?”
“No, I want you to be surprised.”
We disembarked the jet, while they unloaded our luggage. A luxury car that I had arranged drove up and loaded us in. Samantha was all smiles because the sun was out, it was warm and I think she figured we were on a vacation. She just didn’t know where. It was only a four hour flight, so I figured she knew it wasn’t London.
“Now can you tell me?”
I sighed. “You want to ruin the surprise, I asked?”
She huffed, “No, I guess not.”
“I’ll give you a hint. We are in Barbados.” She gasped.
We arrived at the hotel, but I didn’t let her take in the scenery, just took her straight to the Presidential suite, where there was a fruit ensemble waiting for us along with a bottle of wine. I sat her down on the chair, squatted down to her and said the words that rolled through my head for the past few weeks.
“Samantha, I love you so much. I never knew I could love anyone this much. Sometimes I think it was the instant you bumped into me and I saw that you were upset. Something in me wanted to make that go away. I’ve spent a good part of this year trying to make that sadness go away. I think you know, I’d do anything for you. You make me feel whole again. Three weeks ago, I thought I lost you, which made me want to claim you even more. You think we’re still figuring this out, but mama, I’ve been clear from the start. I want you. I want us. I want the house, the white picket fence, our kids running around, my daughter looking just like you, my son acting just like you. I want that with you and only you.” I wiped away a tear from her eye.
“Your father wanted a man that would protect you and keep you safe and secure. I am that man. I love you no matter what. Make me a legitimate whole man now and marry me?” I said, as I got on one knee.
She gasped and put her hands to her mouth.
“Joshua, are you serious?”
I pulled out the box with the three caret princess cut diamond ring, took the ring out and placed it on her left finger.
“Will you be my wife?”
She busted out crying, uncontrollably. I didn’t know if this was a good thing or bad thing. So I kept holding her hand and rubbing her arm, until she calmed down. She grabbed me by the collar of my polo shirt with both hands and said, “Damn you Joshua!”
“What?” I grabbed her wrists.
“You would propose like this and I’m all crying and looking crazy.”
The woman was crazy!
“Is that a yes?” I asked, with one of my eyebrows up.
“Of course, it’s a yes, silly!” she exclaimed.
I yelled, “She said yes!”
I turned the TV on and there were four different monitors on one big screen. The top left was her parents on Skype, the top right was my parents on Skype, the bottom left was her friends, Rosyln, Elliot and Vicki and the bottom right was our people, Craig, Daniel, Larry, and Karen. They were all screaming and yelling their congratulations to us. She started crying some more, but this time hiding in my chest. I held her and shook my head.
“She’s emotional,” I told them, “I’m sure it’s the baby!”
“Joshua,” she groaned.
“Alright you guys, we’ll be home in a week. Right now, we are going to celebrate.”
SAMANTHA:
I couldn’t believe Joshua brought me all the way to Barbados to propose. Sometimes he could be so sweet. It was so nice here on the beach. We ate dinner, which was simply fabulous! He said we were going to have another type of dessert later. I couldn’t wait. I hadn’t had sex in almost a month. I wasn’t a sex-craved woman before, but I swear I was going through some sort of withdrawals after having him for days and then nothing. During my recovery, I knew I was a total bitch, not just to him, but everyone. As the guys would say, she needed some dick. I did, too. I wouldn’t argue with that sentiment. I knew he relieved himself probably in the shower, because he would take them several times a day and wouldn’t let me join him.
We walked along the beach, holding hands and looking like a couple in love. More importantly, we were a couple in love and grateful to be together. That’s what I always wanted, despite everything else, I wanted a man who loved me no matter what, took care of me, even if I could take care of myself and provided that sense of security. I knew that is what I found in Joshua. There were still some other things about him that I didn’t understand or felt like he wouldn’t disclose to me just yet, like the BDSM club and his business associates. I didn’t harp on these, but I did want to know one day. I talked to him about Trevor and continuing our friendship and surprisingly, he was open to this. He muttered that he might not be so bad. He told me how he was there for me the day of the attack. So, I guess Joshua was giving him the benefit of the doubt.
I touched my stomach, because finally, I started to see a tiny baby bump. I’ve been waiting for it forever it seemed like. I tended to call Min every week to tell her my progress. The last time I called, she said not to call her until our next appointment. I’m sure I was getting on her nerves. Joshua would just kiss me and tell me to rest. That was his mantra for the last several weeks. ‘Rest mama’, ‘Take it easy, mama’, ‘One day at a time.’ I know he knew he was getting on my nerves, so I guess he figured we both needed a vacation.
Joshua threw a rock into the ocean and stared off. He was lost in thought, but not in life. He looked peaceful and content. I pulled out my camera to take a picture of him. It was such a serene picture of him, one that I would get mounted for my office. The flash from my phone brought him back to me. He looked surprised and then he started to chase me down. I ran as fast as I could with sandals in the sand, which wasn’t very far. He grabbed my arm and snapped me back to him.
“You want dessert out here or inside.”
“Considering what I want to do to you, inside.” I smirked.
He all but dragged me to our suite. When we arrived, he tore off his shirt and threw it across the room. I had on a long beach dress that I would have quickly removed if I didn’t suddenly feel self-conscious about the scar that was now on my stomach. Joshua saw my hesitation and came to me, “I’ll take you anyway I can, mama. Remember that.”
He slowly pulled the straps of my dress off my shoulders and let it fall to the floor. He sat me down on the bed and bent down to take off my sandals. He put one knee on the bed, lifted me and pushed me back, so I was in the middle of the bed and he was on top of me. “I’ve missed you, baby.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him down for a desperate kiss. He practically fell on me and stuck his tongue down my throat as he deepened the kiss. I started to suck on his tongue, like I’d been wanting to suck on his cock, but couldn’t for almost a month. He groaned in my mouth, “Damn, baby.” He tore away from my mouth.
“I’ve missed you more,” I breathed.
“Panties off,” he commanded as he lay on his back in the bed. “Ass up here,” he pointed to his face, “and your mouth down here,” he pointed to his cock as he pulled his seersucker pants and briefs down.
I quickly complied, as I was feeling back to normal and hadn’t had an orgasm in what felt like forever. Even when I tried on my own, it hurt my stomach. You never know how much you use certain muscles, until you can’t.
I put my glistening snatch right over his face and slowly lowered, while rocking back and forth. He wrapped his arms around my thighs and pulled me all the way down on his face. I gasped as he latched on to my throbbing little nub and started to suck hard. Oh, how I missed that. I lowered my mouth to his hard cock. I missed this too. I licked around the head, then I massaged his balls, as I played with the slit with my tongue. He groaned in my pussy.
Pumping his cock with my left hand, I moved my mouth to suck on his right sac. His balls were so big, there was no way I could get them or barely one in my mouth. I sucked and sucked, like it was chocolate during that time of the month. I couldn’t get enough, especially with him finger fucking me in my tight pussy. I sucked on as much of his sac that I could, then I put my hot mouth on his long, thick cock. I started to bob my head up and down. He growled and smacked my ass. It spurred me on because he knew I liked that. I took him further in my mouth and kept going, then he smacked my ass again. I started rocking back and forth on his mouth because he was about to make me cum. I went down again, taking all of him until I choked. He smacked my ass and I came all over his face with a scream. I was panting loudly and out of breath from chocking and my orgasm. I took a minute to calm down, while licking his hard cock like a lollipop.
