So I shrugged when she left and relaxed the tension in my body. I’d be dealing with Nicole soon enough. I didn’t exactly know how, but I would. I walk over to Skull’s table and stop.

“I asked what the fuck you are doing on my turf unannounced Skull. You and me, we got an agreement. You and the Devil’s Fire stay out of our way and we’ll stay out of yours. You going to start going back on that shit maybe I need to rethink letting you use my town to get from Red River to run your shit.”

“Just stopping by for a drink, surely old friends can do that ey
?”

Smarmy motherfucker! We’re not friends. He’d fuckin’ slit my throat if he got the chance and I wasn’t too far behind that my own damn self, especially after seeing his hands on Nicole. Skull was a waste of air.

“Deal was, you stay off Savage property and we let you use our road. That was the extent of the deal. No fuckin’ thing else exists between us asshole.”

I have to admit I enjoyed the flash of hate that came over Skull’s face. At least the feeling was real. I could deal with real. Not this fake shit he was trying to blow up my ass? I ain’t got time for that.

“There’s a n
asty rumor going around Dragon.”

I yank a seat out and sit down. It looks like this shit was going to take awhile. Nicole would get away with her shit for now.

“Not in fuckin’ junior high Skull. Don’t have any idea about fucking rumors.”

“Fine, I’ll lay it out for you.”

“Finally!”

Skulls’ jaw clamps down and I can almost hear his teeth grinding.

“Word has it that you’re letting the Kings traffic their merchandise in this area, for a cut.”

“Word would be wrong.”

“Have it on good authority, your man Twist was brokering el trato with them just last week. That does not work for me Dragon. I have been paying your fees. You going behind my back man, we have problemas.”

“Are we havin’ this discussion?” I growl, because now I’m pissed. For several reasons but the majority of them have to do with the man in front of me.

He looks straight at me and doesn’t back down, which isn’t good. That means this fucker truly believes what he is saying.

“Don’t have a deal with the Kings, haven’t even talked to the motherfuckers. You had my word on this before. That’s not good enough perhaps you and I have problems. Don’t appreciate the disrespect.”

Skull nods. I feel Crusher moving closer to my back.

“Got no problem with you man as long as our deal is straight up, I hear things though.”

“What things?”

“Not packing tales Dragon, like you said, it is not junior high. You just might want to reel in your boys though. That’s all I got to say.”

“I handle my men. You hear shit to the otherwise, then you be a man and speak up other wise shut the hell up and get out of my club.”

Skull slams his hand down and rakes a bottle onto the floor. I hear it break but I keep my face cold as stone. He didn’t intimidate me; I have faced fuckers harder than him for years. Still, I couldn’t back down from this even if there was a chance that Skull was telling the truth. You can’t show any weak spots to an enemy. In this world that’s the quickest way to die.

“Your ass man, I was trying to do you a solid. It will not happen again. Don’t worry about if I am a man, hermano. I’ll make sure your new el gatito knows this up close and personal.”

He got up and slaps me goodbye on my shoulder. I want to rip his arms off for even thinking about Nicole and for touching me. I didn’t though. I remain expressionless and choke the need for violence down. No weaknesses! That was my world.

Crusher waited until Skull and his crew had left then took a seat. Didn’t take a minute and Irish was in the other seat. They knew as well as I did, Skull had to know something or he never would have come into my territory.

“Should we talk to Twist? Find out what the fuck is going on?” Crush asked.

“Not wise.” Irish spoke up and I agreed, but remained quiet.

“Why the fuck not,” Crush asked. He had a history with betrayal, I knew this shit would hit way too close to home for him.

“Because if this shit is true, we are just letting him know he’s been found out. No, we have to figure this shit out first.” I explained.

“He’s a brother. Shouldn’t we go to him directly? We owe him more than taking a fuck face like Skull’s word over one of our own.”

I agree with Crush to a point, but the truth was I knew Skull well enough to know he wouldn’t put the word out unless he could back it up. I had known Twist for awhile, but I couldn’t lie. There was a lot about the man I didn’t like. There was a reason I had never promoted him into a position in the club. He joined up about the same time as Bull. They had served a term in the military together. Bull came across as a straight shooter, but Twist? Well he lived up to his name at times. Twisted shit up a hundred ways before it finally fell into place. If Skull said he had heard talk, then yeah, he had more than heard it.

“Get Bull, Hawk and Gunner together, have them meet up with us at the shed tomorrow. Keep it quiet. We’ll have a vote.”

Crush nodded. Irish was Irish. He didn’t say shit, but he was with me.

I had hoped that would be the end of it and I’d get out of here. I should have known better.

“So?”

“Shut it Irish.”

“I’m just saying she seems like a firecracker. Maybe more trouble than she’s worth.”

Undoubtedly, the word popped to mind at the same time my dick jerked at the thought of her again.

“Hell I like a woman with spirit. If Dragon ain’t up to it, I’ll take her off his hands in a heartbeat.”

“You want to keep your hands then you keep them the fuck away from her,” I order.

Nicole might have thought I wanted to share her. Hell I can’t even deny that I hadn’t thought about it initially. I had done that before with some of my brothers, and it never bothered me. Yet when I had seen Nicole’s hands on Skull and that son of a bitch looking at her tits. I could have easily choked the life out of the asshole. Yeah there would be no sharing Nicole, at least not until I worked the bitch out of my system.

“Whoa you’re sounding awful territorial there brother,” Crush said, watching me closely. Crush and I had a long history. It went deep. He knew me inside and out. He could tell this was different. I didn’t want to talk about that shit though. This wasn’t some kind of Steel Magnolia’s moment when we would start acting like a bunch of pansy assed bitches, gushing about feelings. I wanted Nicole. That’s all I needed to concentrate on right now.

“Fuck off,” I return only half joking. “I’m out boys. See you tomorrow. Crush you and me will leave early to get to
the shed.”

I didn’t look back. I didn’t wait for them to reply. I had one thing on my mind and I know they knew what it was and I didn’t need to see their smart assed faces mocking me.

Chapter 8

Dragon

I didn’t go to Nicole like I wanted. I thought about it. Fuck I hadn’t thought about much anything else since I had sunk inside her. Still, she needed to stew over shit for a bit. I wanted her, but I’ll be damned if I’m not going to demand respect from her sexy tight little ass.

It had been over twenty four hours now since I had been inside the damned woman and I had never been a junkie, but I felt like if I didn’t get my fix soon I would start shaking with the need. Fuck. That woman has me so damned knotted up inside, I’m starting wonder if she didn’t put some kind of voodoo hex on my cock.

I need to get my head in the game quick, like yesterday. I’m currently sitting in front of a worn out as hell table made from an old slab of wood. My chair cocked back, my feet perched on the table giving the appearance that I am a man without a care in the world. Hell I couldn’t even remember what being a man like that felt like. Truthfully, I don’t think I had ever felt like that—not that it fucking mattered. Life was what you were dealt and mine had been shitty since the beginning, but I survived and fucking did it daily.

I had called a meeting at the shed and Bull and Gunner had just arrived. Hawk, Irish and Crush had all come with me.

This place was well off the beaten path. It was an old fishing cabin in the hills out from Laurel Lake. You had to drive up a road with so many curves and turns it felt like you would kiss your own ass before it was done. Once you got all the way back on the hill the brothers and I had hidden some ATV’s in a small garage that was out of sight, right off the main road. It was visible, but hidden enough that you would have to look for it and know it was there to even see it. It was a building we had dug out of the side of a hill. The place was in fact, part of the hill itself and we encouraged the kudzu vines and other shit to grow crazy hiding the damn thing.

Once you got on the ATV and traveled about thirty minutes you found the shed. It had 3 rooms and a completely different building about thirty feet away. Brothers and I fixed the place up when we first formed the club. We needed a place out of sight, so we could make sure we kept people in line. It wasn’t easy being the ruling club of a city. There was always someone wanting to take that position away from us. The shed and the reason we used it, weren’t my favorite parts of the life, it was just a fact. It was a dog eats dog kind of world and you had to do what you had to do.

“I still say it’s fucking cold to test a brother. He’s been part of our damned group for years now. He should have our respect,” Crush said, drawing my attention back to the conversation at hand.

I understood his point but I was getting damn tired of being questioned. It was my fucking club. My word was law. It had to be. Wasn’t that I was a hard ass with a god complex. Screw that shit. No, it was that my decisions kept our asses alive and I needed them to have my back—not question me. Crush was a good man, and one of my closest brothers but I was fucking tired of this shit.

“Enough. I fucking heard you the first fifteen damned times you spouted that shit. I’m not fucking asking for your permission dick weed, I’m informing you of my fucking decision. Respect that shit or get the fuck out.”

“I’m just saying…”

“I know what the fuck you’re saying, but this is not the first fucking time Twist has been called out. Shit it’s not even the second. I’m sick of fucking dealing with this. I either can trust a brother or I can’t. Skull can be an asshole, but he shoots straight. If he says he’s heard talk and mentions a name, that means the mother fucker has seen that shit up close and personal.”

I look at my brothers—and they were my brothers. I knew I was a fucked up looking S-O-B. I was big and broad. I worked hard for that, you couldn’t really be a President of a Club and look like a damn science nerd. My dark skin was marred with scars and tats and my hands were callused and rough as shit. I didn’t care. It was who I was.

My brothers though? Each one was different. Crush had dark hair and skin tanned naturally by the sun. He liked the military and kept his buzz cut going, though maybe a little longer than regulation since he got out. Irish had strawberry blonde hair, which was shaggy and cut with no real direction. I secretly thought he just took the scissors and chopped off a whack of hair when it annoyed him. His skin was so fucking white! Damn shit made me want to put on my shades when he went around without a shirt. Bull? There wasn’t much pretty about him that was for damn sure. He was a brother like me. You would think he was a pretty boy; it took him a freaking hour to shave his head bald. He wasn’t, he was quiet and rarely smiled. As club enforcer that shit worked though. Gunner and Freak were different as night and day and they were real brothers. Freak was covered in tats, hair that was thick and long and covered most of his face because he didn’t give a shit. Gunner was blonde, blue-eyed and could have been a surfer dude. He didn’t really fit in with our rough ass crew. I liked him though. He was a straight shooter and I figured he’d be the one to have trouble with this shit, since he brought Twist in. He was remaining quiet though. I appreciated it. Now if Crush would quit dogging my ass about it. I had shit I wanted to do tonight. Namely Nicole, damn bitch had me dying for her again. She was going to be deep trouble. I knew it. Fuck, I saw it coming head on, but I couldn’t stop that shit. I didn’t even want to.

“Are we done with this fucking convo now boys, or do I have to sit here and watch you jerk your dicks before I can leave?” I growl. Crush gave me a pissed off look but he nodded with the others.

“Then it’s settled. Gun, Twist trusts you. You hang by his side both when he knows and especially when he doesn’t. Freak you are there when Gun ain’t. You get so far in his shit, you gotta shower.”

“We hear ya Boss,” Freak said. Gunner just nodded his silent agreement. That was his way. Man didn’t talk much. It might weird some out. Me? Hell no. I knew when Gun talked I should listen, so it worked.

“Crush you and Bull get started on your roles in this shit fest. I need answers by yesterday. I need to know what’s going on this week, before we find ourselves in a fucking mess.”

“What if the man is innocent and we do this shit to him? What then Drag?” Crush questioned me yet-a-fucking-again. At least this time he didn’t sound like a damned sullen little bitch face about it.
