“Roll over.”

His stomach fluttering with nerves, Trey turned over onto his belly. Smoke’s hands were gentle on his hips, pulling him up onto his knees and then stroking warmly over his buttocks. He shivered with anticipation when Smoke spread his cheeks, waiting to feel the nudge of a hard cock. He let out a surprised cry at the wetness of Smoke’s tongue running up and down in his crack and swirling around his clenched hole.

He was lost. Smoke owned his ass, and he knew exactly what to do to make Trey tremble with desire. Waves of sensation washed over him like ripples in a pond, concentric circles meeting, overlapping, becoming even bigger, until they merged and drowned him with the incredible pleasure. Then Smoke’s hands and tongue left him with a final caress, and Trey heard the crackle of a condom wrapper.

Smoke had used his tongue so well, Trey felt no pain when his cock slid into him. A soft groan of mingled surprise and welcome escaped his throat. Smoke held very still, waiting for him to accept the invasion.

Trey reached back and touched the base of Smoke’s cock where it penetrated him. He lunged back to impale himself, desperate to be possessed, ready to give himself to Smoke without hesitation this time. The air seemed to fairly crackle with the invisible electricity arcing between them.

Slowly, Smoke started to move, angling to find that spot. When he found it, sparks flew behind Trey’s eyes. They were as close as two people could be, Smoke filling him completely. Finally Trey had to admit to himself that he loved Smoke, and sex was different when you loved the man attached to the cock.

He let out an incoherent sound of protest when Smoke pulled out, leaving him empty and bereft. Smoke crooned soothingly and turned him onto his back. “I want to watch you while we make love.” His whisper was rough with emotion.

Trey nodded wordlessly.

Smoke spread his legs wide and bent to kiss the inside of each knee. Almost reverentially, he pressed Trey’s knees back to his chest.

“Oh my God,” Trey gasped at the moment of penetration. It had been only two days, but he needed this, to feel Smoke moving inside him
now
.

Smoke pushed Trey’s legs wider and leaned down to kiss him. His tongue filled Trey’s mouth as his cock filled his hole. Smoke kissed him slowly, taking his time in a way they never did—and he was a great kisser. Trey loved his mouth, especially when he was using it for something other than talking. Smoke ended the kiss with a sigh and rolled his hips deliberately to push in even deeper. Trey arched into the sensation, trying to get more of Smoke inside.

He lifted his head, looking down at Trey, love shining in his eyes. He reached out to caress Trey’s face and traced his thumb over Trey’s lips.

Then Smoke started to move again, his thrusts slow and careful at first. Eagerly, Trey rocked up to meet him, and together they found a rhythm. Smoke’s hands gripped Trey’s thighs, fingers digging into the muscles.

A strange little whimpering moan came out of Trey’s throat as Smoke drove into him, pounding him into oblivion. Before this, he’d always held part of himself back, almost as if judging his performance from afar. He never moaned or cried out, but now his control was shredded and he almost sobbed with his need to be taken. Between their stomachs, his cock was hard and aching, close to exploding. The friction was almost more than he could take. “Oh God, please…. Smoke….” He locked his legs around Smoke’s waist and grabbed his shoulders, clinging with all his strength. He wanted as much of Smoke inside him as possible. He latched on to Smoke’s neck and sucked.

“Want to make you feel so good, baby….” Smoke gasped.

Staring into Smoke’s eyes, Trey was hardly able to stand the intensity of the moment when Smoke’s hand wrapped around his cock, stroking in time to his thrusts. Smoke belonged inside him, as he belonged inside Smoke. Heat rushed through his body and he let out a wild cry, shuddering with the painful rapture of his orgasm.

Smoke’s cock was a rod of steel in his ass when he clenched down, never wanting to let Smoke go.

Smoke’s eyes glazed over and his mouth fell open. His chest heaved as he gasped for air. Silent and intent on his own release, his careful strokes turned wild. Each thrust became shorter and harder. Finally, with an urgent groan, he closed his eyes and drove into Trey in quick, uneven bursts.

For a few seconds after he came, Smoke remained frozen in place, every muscle rigid. Then he let himself down slowly on Trey, like an autumn leaf drifting down on a breeze. His cock was still buried deep inside, and Trey stayed wrapped around Smoke, letting himself float in a peaceful place between waking and sleeping.

For a long time, they said nothing. Lying there with his cheek against Smoke’s shoulder, Trey thought about how good he felt. It’d been such a long time since he felt happy.

The way Smoke looked at him when they made love, Trey knew what he’d said earlier was real and had always been real.

All the old fears seemed to slip away, and his love bubbled up inside him, light, effervescent as champagne. Smoke possessed him in a way nobody else ever could. Smoke knew him and loved him anyway. And he could spend the rest of his life doing this.

Just then Smoke’s stomach let out a loud grumble, and Trey cracked up.

“Guess I still owe you that supper.” Smoke patted his stomach, and Trey didn’t know if he was speaking to it or him. He decided to go with him.

Trey tightened his arms around Smoke. “Don’t want to let you go.”

“You have to some time, or they’ll find two skeletons fucking when they come to look for us.”

When Trey laughed, his muscles pushed Smoke’s cock out. “Okay, I guess I’ll let you feed me.”

“After a quick shower.”

Smoke held his hand as they went into the bathroom, going to the roomy shower this time. At first Smoke simply held him, swaying as they stood under the water. In no hurry, Smoke picked up the soap. Holding Trey in place, Smoke lathered him all over with slow, long strokes, massaging Trey’s tight shoulders and sliding his soapy hands down his spine. Trey grunted and thrust forward when Smoke stroked his fingers over his hole.

“Sore?” Pride flickered in Smoke’s eyes, making Trey grin.

“A little.” But it was a good soreness, reminding him of how Smoke filled him up. He took the soap from Smoke. “My turn.”

Smoke stood still, letting Trey explore him. They kissed, letting the water run into their open mouths until Smoke’s stomach growled again.

After they toweled off, Smoke went to find some clothing for both of them. “Your clothes haven’t made it to the dryer yet.” He held out the jeans.

Without bothering with the boxers, Trey pulled Smoke’s jeans on.

“Freeballing it, eh?” Smoke’s eyes glinted with laughter. “That’s my sexy man.”

“Oh, shut up.”

“Gonna have to get used to getting a compliment every now and again, T-man.” Smoke took Trey’s hand when they walked to the kitchen together. Sex with Smoke had been great from the start, and it just got better over time, but Trey found it achingly romantic when Smoke held his hand. He couldn’t remember ever doing that with anyone.

“You can set the table.” Smoke pointed out the silverware drawer and where the plates were kept.

Trey sat down to watch in astonishment as Smoke made a supper of eggs, sausage, biscuits, and gravy. “Didn’t know you were so domestic.”

“A lot we don’t know about each other.” Smoke flashed him a smile. “Time to find out.”

They drank coffee and ate in silence, but it wasn’t the usual uneasy quiet that hung over them most times. For the first time, Trey felt they were completely in tune.

He washed the pans as Smoke loaded the dishwasher.

Then Smoke went to put Trey’s wet clothes into the dryer. “Guess you can’t leave until morning,” he said, triumph on his face. “Unless you want to go nekkid.”

Trey looked at his watch and yawned. “It’s pretty late.”

“Guess you’re stuck with me, then.”

The tears that he never gave in to, no matter how sad he was, trickled down Trey’s cheek now. He wiped them away when Smoke wasn’t looking. Nothing he wanted more than to be stuck with Smoke.

“Let’s go outside.”

When they sat down in the chairs on the patio, Smoke took Trey’s hand. “So how about it? Want to buy in?”

“Have to think about it.”

“Still don’t believe I’m that into you?” Smoke’s brows drew together. “How long you think I’ve been going to the rodeo?”

“Fifteen years.”

“How’d you know?”

“Internet is a wonderful thing.”

“You looked me up?”

Trey nodded, even though it seemed stalkery to admit to it.

“Well, get the world’s smallest violin ready. All these years, and people come on to me all the time. It’s not like I don’t appreciate the advantage of good looks, but sometimes that’s all people see. Like fucking with me is the prize and I’m not even in the room. When I’m with you, I know you see me, the real me, not white-chaps Smokin’ Hot Carter in the ring. Even if I never rode again, it wouldn’t make any difference to you.”

Thinking guiltily how much time he spent mooning over Smoke’s looks, Trey nodded. “Yeah, not a star-fucker.”

“You see something in me that other people miss. I’m real to you.”

“You’re real all right,” Trey agreed.

“So what is it? What do you see?”

Slowly Trey said, “You’re a kind man. Funny, smart. I admire that you’re so willing to put yourself out there. You don’t hide.”

“Not like you hiding the best part of yourself all the time, but I see you anyway.” Smoke leaned over and pointed at Trey. “I see you. Whenever I thought about retiring, I realized it would kill me if I never saw you again. And the more I thought about it, I knew I wanted to see you every day. I want you to come live with me.”

Trey saw fear on Smoke’s face for the first time, and it shook him. Smoke was always so strong, so confident. Now he was afraid Trey would reject him.

“And I ask you to move in and you can’t decide.” Smoke grinned uncertainly. “Guess maybe the universe thought my ego needed a few more dents.”

“Then I’m your man. Dents I can do,” Trey said. “I just don’t get it, though. Why me?”

Smoke looked up at the gentle movement of leaves stirring in the evening breeze. “I’m not just another notch on your pistol grip. You take me seriously as a rider and a person. When a guy like Rowdy Stetson comes on to me, I always wonder what they want from me. Like I said, I know my looks can be an advantage, but it’s tough being hot. Turns you into an object.”

Trey shook his head. “Never been a problem for me.”

“You never give anyone much of a chance. There’s more guys out there than you think who’d do you in a second.” Smoke wasn’t smiling, and Trey realized he was serious. “I feel honored that you let me in as far as you do, but I was kind of hoping for more.”

“Shucks.” Trey studied the stone floor as if there was going to be a quiz on it later.

“I value your opinion. I feel like if I wanted to talk business, you wouldn’t be thinking about my cock.”

“Well, I would, but I’d try to impress you by focusing on business.” Trey grinned.

“Good, otherwise I’d be afraid I was losing my mojo.” Smoke laughed. “Plus you’re just as smart as me.”

“Smarter,” Trey said automatically. “I think I’ve been hanging around you too long. You’re starting to make sense.”

“Ain’t no such thing as too much time with me.” The cocky grin was back on Smoke’s face. “At first I thought you wanted to keep us a secret because you didn’t trust me. Then I realized you were trying not to get in my way. Like, whatever I wanted, you wanted me to have it. Nobody else ever thinks about what I want. They want what they want. And they want Smoke, the hot bull rider, not Roy Carter who runs a little trail-ride operation.”

Trey stared as if he could see inside Smoke’s head and read what he was thinking. “Yeah, it means something to me to see you happy.”

Smoke reached out and took his hand. “I feel the same way. I want to make you happy.”

“Wow.”

“Wow?”

“Never expected this to happen to me.”

“Thought you’d be alone the rest of your life?”

“Pretty much.” Trey gulped. His throat was tight, and he had to blink a lot for some reason.

“You’re cute.” Smoke smiled and squeezed his hand.

“You’re cuter.”

“You’re older.”

“By four months!”

“Always going to be younger.”

Trey laughed. “We might quit riding bulls, but we ain’t never gonna quit competing.”

“Spice of life, babe. Can’t get along without a little contest.” Smoke gave him a smug grin. “Trust me on that. I’m smart.”

“I’m smarter.”

“Haven’t proved it so far.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Moving in with me would prove it.”

Trey shifted restlessly in his chair. This couldn’t be happening to him. It had to be a dream. “Gotta think it through first.”

“God, you’re decisive.”

Trey laughed and Smoke joined in, looking more hopeful.

“Go home if you need to. Think it over. Call Dolly and Alex, see what they—”

“You already know what they’ll say or you wouldn’t be telling me to call them.”

Smoke shrugged modestly. “Hey, they’re smart babes. They only want what’s best for you, and that would be me, a touch of Smoke.”

“More than a touch, I hope,” Trey murmured.

“What if you moved in here tonight?”

The idea dazzled Trey. “But we don’t know each other that well.”

Smoke belted out a laugh. “We know enough to build on. We’ve been fucking three years. Staying in the same room. Riding together. Eating together. Doing everything together except going home together.”

The thought of all he’d missed out on made Trey’s eyes sting.

Smoke cocked his head to the side. “Call your brother right now and tell him you got a better gig.”

“I need time to think it over.” Stubbornly Trey shook his head.

TREY WOKE
up in the middle of night, unable to believe he was really here, in Smoke’s home. In his bed. He still could barely wrap his mind around the idea that Smoke actually wanted him, but he sure as hell wanted Smoke. Maybe enough to take a chance this time.
