“You’re right, Bob, we think it did indeed belong to Hania Shonavon. However, it’s now identified as Reich’s necklace, as you can see the missing piece found in his hand has been replaced. however this would certainly tie Grundman to the deaths up in Canada, but we need some help,” Novak looks over at me.

“We know who the woman with Grundman is. Apparently, she flew in with Grundman when he first came but doesn’t live with him. Her name’s Lena, and she likes rich men.”

“So what’s that got to do with me?” I ask.

“You’re going to turn into a rich man, Mr. Green, and you’re going to find out how she got that necklace,” Novak tells me.

“Look guys, I’m not your man, I’m no damn good with women, plus too many people know what I look like.”

“You’re in no position to argue, Bob. We have July, and we can arrange that you never see her again. We know that’s a cruel threat, but there’s too much riding on this not to go after it. Besides, we know how much of a motivation July is to you. We won’t have to worry about you running out on us,” Novak replies.

I’m not a happy man, and they know it. “So what all do I have to do?” I ask.

“We’ll arrange for you to meet Lena. We think she’s very vulnerable right now and looking for someone to get her away from Grundman.”

“Yeah,” adds Chamberlain, “from what we hear she hates his ass, but he’s got her over a barrel. He’s a real kinky bastard, likes screwing young girls up the ass while another one whips him.”

“Look guys, I don’t think this is going to work,” I tell them.

“Got any better ideas, Bob?” Novak asks.

“Here’s the scoop, Bob,” Chamberlain begins. “A while back, a drug lord in the Mediterranean died mysteriously aboard his yacht with all his crew. The CIA couldn’t just let his yacht drift around, so they decided maybe they could use it in this little covert operation their planning here. Nobody knows he’s dead, and nobody over here knows him, but they do know his reputation as a ruthless bastard. Tomorrow we’re flying over to that yacht and bringing it to the Bahamas. Bob, you’re about to become the man.”

“It won’t work guys, they all know me.”

“Our people will go over you until you don’t recognize yourself. Your crew will all be CIA. A fellow by the name of Ansly will look after you from here on in.”

“So I’m to get this Lena to tell me where she got the necklace, and then what?” I ask.

“Come on, Bob. We know you want to get Waddell and Grundman as much as we do,” Novak says. “We figure you can turn them against each other so you can find out what they know and if they kill each other, so be it. However, the one we really want is El Presidente. You’re going to turn his world upside down until he comes looking for you himself.

It’s the only way, Bob,” Novak tells me, “you’re life is always going to be in danger until you get to the source.”

I take a deep breath, “Can I at least see July?”

“Yes, she’ll meet you on the yacht tomorrow, and then you won’t see her again until this is over.”

I walk to the window; it is dark out, already fitting my mood. “So what is happening with Waddell?” I ask.

“Someone beat the shit out of him. It seems July rearranged his nose when she escaped from where he was holding her,” Chamberlain says. “Quite a woman, isn’t she?”

“Yes,” I agree feeling better, “she does get her kicks in.”

Chamberlain and I stand looking out the window at the harbor lights. “It’s such a pretty country, Bob, but drugs have fucked it up. They’ve corrupted the government to the core. A few get rich, the rest either have to contend with the drugs or use them. But things are changing. Next month, there’s an election. The old government’s going to be kicked out, Bob. The new one is going to clean it up. There’ll be hard times after the drugs are gone but not for long. The Bahamas are just starting to wake up. Once the drugs are gone, the tourists will return and people will prosper, just wait and see.”

We sit up late talking about things that are ahead for me. I finally get to my bedroom and stand for a long time in front of a mirror. This is one of the last times I will see the old Bob Green. The fact that these people have the ability to change my features and personality I have no doubt, but will I like the man they create. Tears come into my eyes and most importantly will July still love this new man. I shut the lights out and crawl into bed.

Novak wasn’t happy with what Sir Harry had planned for Bob Green, but he didn’t have any other options available either. A lot of things had changed since he’d left Canada. He was told that his job was to wait in the Bahamas until Bob Green was released to the Canadian government and then bring him back. The commander told him to enjoy himself as they thought it would only be a couple of weeks.

“Hit the beach. Find some girls because when you come back, you’ll be reassigned here in Ottawa, and we’ve got a lot of winter to get through.” They told him the embassy would put him up while he stayed in the Bahamas. He was soon to find out the embassy was really a consulate in a building shared with several other countries and businesses. The room consisted of a small cot used for staff who had to work late. Novak guessed the people in Ottawa didn’t know or care about this as long as it didn’t go on their expense account.

The consulate was small and had none of the communication facilities he was looking for. It was okay to go down to the beach for an hour or so, but Novak was obsessed with trying to figure out what really happened up in Canada. He needed to be able to communicate with other countries’ police forces and his own constabulary to find out anything new that might have been uncovered about the case.

He tried the American embassy, but they were not very forthcoming as to sharing their facilities. It was on a visit to the British embassy that he had met Sir Harry Chamberlain. Novak explained to him what he was trying to do, and to Novak’s astonishment, Sir Harry told him, “My good man, you need access to Interpol. I heard about the massacre up there, and I am aware the Americans are looking for the man who got away. Any light you can put on the subject would be greatly appreciated.” Novak couldn’t believe that Sir Harry had all this information and that he had stumbled on to the right man to help him.

Interpol was a whole new world to Novak, and Sir Harry gave him unlimited access. It was a world where police the world over exchanged information, and he soon began to get answers to some of the information he put out there. The Mounties up in Canada had a computer system, but it allowed the officers a very limited database. This system he had been introduced to give him access to files around the world including himself and, most interestingly data on the commander who’d sent him here and who was described as being very incompetent.

Novak found that some of the bodies found up in Saskatchewan had been identified, but not all, and one of the men who had escaped was found dead in Minneapolis. That left two known survivors, Green being one and the other still unknown. Novak pushed his necklace theory and sent pictures everywhere, but there had been no hits. Sir Harry was very impressed with Novak’s work ethics and encouraged him with his work.

“I’m supposed to be the Interpol man here,” he said. “But these damned machines get the best of me. You’ve taken to that machine like a duck takes to water. I’m going to request that the Canadians leave you here to look into some drug-related matters that may concern them, and after all, you are here to look after Bob Green.”

A month went by, and there was still no sign of Green. The government requested Novak to find out what was going on. He went to Sir Harry to see if he knew anything.

“Well, I want you to keep this to yourself,” Sir Harry told him. “The Americans lost him.”

Novak couldn’t believe his ears, “What do you mean lost him?”

“Well, they assumed that when you gave Green his passport, he’d just fly down here to the Bahamas and look for his wife.”

“I told them this guy was a different cat, but as usual who pays any attention to me. Anyway, he got himself across the border, and we know he was in Miami.”

“Damn,” was all Novak could come up with. “Don’t you think there must be people out there that would like him dead?”

“Well,” Sir Harry scratched his head, “the name of the CIA man in this area is Ansly. If you’d like to talk to him I’ll arrange it. He put word out to the Miami mob to bring Green in, but it seems they are not getting along with Ansly right now and let Novak slip out of Miami.”

Now Novak was really confused. “Why in hell would the CIA want the Miami mob to do work for them?” He wanted to know.

“The murky world of good guys and bad guys, Novak, some people are just better at doing things than others. The more you dig into this business, the more you’ll understand.”

“Anyway, Green got himself out of Miami, and we know he’s headed our way, it’s just a matter of time.”

“How in hell can you be sure he’s coming here?” Novak sounded upset.

“Don’t worry, he’ll come for his wife. When he does, I’ll let you know,” Sir Harry told him. It was then he’d told him about Ansly’s plans for Bob Green.

“That sounds pretty far out there.” Novak was not in favor of this at all.

ir Harry agreed with him, “But what alternative does Green have? If you take him back to Canada, chances are he’s in for a long jail term. At least this way we hide him till some of this blows over.”

Novak knew Sir Harry was right, either way it didn’t look too good for Bob Green. He also saw firsthand how Sir Harry operated.

He’d not given Green a chance to think through what was happening to him. Green was tired and all he cared about was that his wife and family survived.

“Maybe Sir Harry is doing the same with me,” Novak thought. He’d just been asked to leave the Canadian police and go to work for the Bahamian police.

“We need someone who can head up our computer training department along with a few other areas we’re lacking expertise in,” Sir Harry informed him. “You’ll double your salary and be our Interpol guy here, I guarantee you won’t be bored.”

Things were moving fast maybe too fast, Novak realized, but he loved it here in the Bahamas and dreaded going back to the old grind. He also felt he had a responsibility to see Green through what could possibly be a dead end street. Novak found it to be a little vague as to whether Green was working for the good guys or the bad guys. There seemed to be no black or white in this world he was entering into. Now he’d have sort that out because he’d handed in his resignation to the Royal Canadian Police this morning.

NINETEEN

L
ENA GRITTED HER
teeth; Grundman was getting worse. Maybe he was bored here in the Bahamas, but Lena knew this Green person was eating at his insides.

Grundman had been increasingly demanding of Lena, and she had done her best to satisfy his desires. She watched as he snorted up his coke and then inserted his cock into the young girl on the bed. She’d recruited several girls, all young and uninhibited, but Grundman was looking for another Greta. This was the first one he had asked back again. He was about halfway up her ass now. “Jeez, that must hurt,” Lena thought to herself, glad it was the girl and not her. The girl squirmed and moaned trying not to scream as Grundman worked his way into her.

“This was nothing yet, wait till I start slapping his ass with this rod,” she thought. Then he’ll really ram it into her. It probably helped that the girl was high on whatever drugs she and Grundman had indulged in. Lena was sure the drugs were the reason the girl had come back to endure more of his tirades.

Lena didn’t like it that Grumman had control over her. “I’ve got to find a man who can stand up to him,” Lena thought as she stroked his ass with the rod. She knew enough to start slow building him into a fury with faster, harder strokes. She’d hoped to meet someone at the party last week in the Crystal Palace. There was some potential all right, but it took time to sort them out, and she wasn’t sure how long she had. Manly Waddell, she found extremely interesting, but he was recovering from a broken nose and showed little interest in her right now. Besides, he and Grundman were buddy-buddy which was not to her benefit.

The phone rang; Lena answered it, recognizing Waddell’s voice.

“I have to speak with Grundman. Please, it’s important.”

“Grundman, it’s Manly, he says he must talk to you,” Lena told him.

Grundman had no intention of stopping his fun. He just indicated for Lena to bring the phone over to him. “They got Green,” Manly told him. “He was seen being loaded on to an American government plane this morning. We’re not sure, but it looks like Sir Harry Chamberlain was the guy who turned him over.”

“We spent all that money hiring those guys of yours, and he gets out of here right under your nose.” Grundeman sounded very agitated.

“We don’t know how in hell he got into Nassau, but Sir Harry got him out before we had time to act,” Waddell told him.

“You’d better pull some favors Manly. If the Americans start asking him questions about us, we’re fucked.”

“Better get your man onto this, Grundman. The Americans don’t exactly owe me any favors,” Manly replied.

Grundman was plunging into the girl now, taking his anger out on her. He didn’t need Lena to whip him; his anger was his passion.

“Find out where they’re holding him,” Grundman told him. “My man will look after him. Listen and you will hear what my man will do to Green.” Grundman put the phone down by the girl’s head and began stroking his cock into her with long hard thrusts. Waddell could hear her screams.

“Perverted prick,” he grumbled and hung up.

It was Sir Harry’s idea to make sure Bob Green was seen boarding the plane. What no one would know was where the plane would end up.

They didn’t even tell me until the plane was in the air. “The Canary Islands,” I am finally told. “That is where your boat is tied up right now. When we think you’re ready, we’ll sail back to Nassau. That should give you a month to get your sea legs.”

It is early evening when I first get to see the ship. Chamberlain had left us at the airport, but Novak stayed with me. We were driven to the harbor in a U.S. embassy car, and then hustled into a waiting boat to take us out to our ship.

The boat driver points out the ship; it is brightly lit like many of the other ships in the harbor and didn’t look much different from the many American warships at anchor.

“It’s an old British frigate completely converted and modernized,” the boat driver tells us.

As we pull up alongside, I can see it is painted pure white, the name Aphrodite running along its bow. A man is waiting for us as we come on board. He introduces himself as Kent Ansly.

“This is my brainstorm,” he tells me. “We’ll be seeing a lot of each other for a while.”

“This is a yacht?” I ask incredulously as he leads me into a room.

“Beautiful, isn’t it? There was no lack of money when the former owner refitted this baby. Not only was it refurbished with elegant rooms, it still carries a full arsenal of guns, and the electronic systems are way ahead of their time. It’s good to see the black market is alive and flourishing.” He then tells me to sit down. “I’m sure you were briefed about the little operation we’re attempting here?” Ansly asks.

I skim over what I have been told.

“That’s basically it,” he tells me. “We have a month to prepare you for the task ahead. By the time you get to Nassau, you’ll think you are Mark Bertrand.”

“Mark Bertrand,” I repeat. “I hear he was a rather tough fellow.”

“Probably no tougher than you, Mr. Green. The difference being is you have some morals and compassion whereas Mr. Bertrand was only interested in himself. This was, in the end, the cause of his demise.”

“How did you get him anyway?” I ask.

“A woman,” Ansly shrugs “Men who are selfish often underestimate the scorn of a woman. You’ll meet her later. She’s a member of our team.”

I nod, “Do you think a month’s going to teach me how to run this boat?”

“That’s not necessary, Bob,” Ansly goes on. “You’ve got to stop thinking like an ordinary man. You’re rich and powerful beyond your wildest dreams now. Somebody does everything for you, but the thinking and even this, in your case, will be taken care of, you just have to play the part. What we have here, Bob, is a basic plan. The rest will just evolve.”

“Sure,” I think, “and if I end up dead, it’s no skin off your ass.”

“We’ll lift anchor in the morning, Bob, but tonight is yours. I have someone for you to meet.” He led me down a long hallway almost to the rear of the ship. “This is your room,” he tells me. “I’ll see you in the morning.” He hands me a key, and I use it to open the door.

It’s a huge suite, very elegantly done. Lounging on a couch in the middle of the room is July. She is absolutely beautiful, more so than I could remember. Her dressing gown hangs loosely from her shoulders showing most of her breasts, her long legs stretch across the couch; now I know why I am in love.

“Hello, sailor,” she says coquettishly.

“Jeez, July,” is all I can say, my eyes staring, trying to take her all in.

he laughs, “The least you can do is to come in and shut the door.”

I come out of my trance and shut the door.

“Come here and hold me, Bobby Green.”

I hold her tight and kiss her tenderly, “You are for real,” I tell her. “I was scared you were just a mirage.” There are tears in her eyes, I kiss them away. “So we meet again,” I say trying to lighten the situation. Her breasts look so inviting, but I don’t want to rush things.

he must have read my mind; she takes my hand and places it on her breast, “They’ve missed you so much,” she tells me. “I want you so bad, let’s fuck now and talk later.” She undid my belt and felt inside my pants. When she found what she was looking for, she shut her eyes, her breath coming in sharp gasps. “I go to sleep dreaming about this big cock of yours,” she whispers in my ear.

My nuts ache. It’s been so long since I’ve been fucked that I’m scared I’ll come in my pants. “Easy, July,” I tell her as she unbuttons my shirt. My cock’s excited, and she knows it. Somehow we get my clothes off, and I climb on top of her and she guides me in. I’m too excited to worry about foreplay or pleasuring July. My nuts are one with my brain, and I begin plunging into her quickly draining my balls in pent-up emotion. I hear a scream in my ears that spurs me on, knowing that July is coming with me.

We lay totally burned out on the couch. I can feel her body still twitching under me.

“I’m still coming,” she giggles in my ear. “It’s like little aftershocks from an earthquake,” she exclaims. “My body’s been waiting for that earthquake too long.”

It feels like I just got rid of a huge pressure on my balls,” I tell her, “but they still ache for more.”

July rolls me off her and begins massaging my sack. “You went too long without getting fucked,” she says, “you should get a service job. There are women you can hire for that.”

“I really don’t need anyone but you,” I tell her. “Sometimes I dream about you in the morning, and I wake up covered in cum,” I smile at her. “I guess you get it whether you know it or not.”

“No wonder I get so wet down there when you’re not around,” she laughs.

It’s so good to hear her laugh again; I become serious. “Do you know anything about what they have in store for me?”

“Yes,” July answers. “I basically know what the plan is and what’s expected of you.”

“I think you and I should get up right now and walk out of here,” I tell her. “Let’s just go somewhere, anywhere away from here, Let’s just go somewhere and live a normal life together.”

July looks away and is silent for a while. “I don’t think that can happen for us in the near future, Bob. Maybe our lives weren’t meant to be normal. I do know if we don’t do what we are asked, they will carry out their threat to never let us be together again. Besides, I don’t know if you could live with yourself if you just walked away.”

“I don’t know, July, it just seems that I have no control over my life anymore. Look at this lame-brained scheme they’ve cooked up. Jeez, instead of a knight riding in on a white horse, I’m a drug dealer on a white yacht riding in to save the day. I think it’s corny.”

“Got any better ideas,” she asks.

“No,” I have to admit, “I just don’t feel good about it.”

“What would you say if I told you this plan was partly my idea?”

Now it’s my turn to sit back. “This thing just keeps twisting and turning along, doesn’t it? I mean, one minute I hear Waddell is holding you, the next you’re kicking the shit out of him. Now you’re telling me you’re the mastermind behind a scene to clean up the drug trade in the Bahamas.”July keeps massaging my balls, maybe she found it therapeutic.

“No,” she says slowly picking her words. “Ansly thought up the scheme, I just sat in on a couple of meetings and gave a few suggestions. I did suggest you were the man for the job, even though it worries me about the danger you’ll be in.”

“So you think this might work?” I ask her.

“There’s no way you could face these people alone, darling. At least, I’ll feel safer knowing you have some good people with you.”

“I finally get to live like a rich man, and you won’t be here to enjoy it with me,” I tell her.

“I’m here tonight,” she purrs, turning herself so she can reach my cock with her tongue. “There’s nothing like it,” she says, “to watch a man’s cock rise is the most gorgeous sight in the world.”

“You sure know how to make it hard,” I tell her, spreading her thighs and running my tongue along her slit.

July knew how to drive me crazy, she worked on my cock until I couldn’t stand it anymore, “I want it in you,” I tell her.

“I want you to fuck me upside down and backward,” she says, pulling my cock from her mouth.

I roll onto my back, and she mounts me. I play with her breasts, my tongue circling her nipples. She rides me like this for a while and then suddenly gets off. “Fuck me from behind,” she says, getting on her knees, turning her rear to me.

I stand up and enter her. She puts her head down so she can watch my cock slide in and out between her legs. Her voice sounds very much on edge. “I’m going to come, baby, can you hold on, I want to use you some more.”

“I have to get a hold of myself,” I think, as I feel her body begin to shudder. She becomes very still and relaxed. I pull out and roll her over, placing a pillow behind her head. Her face is flushed, her eyes are shut. I can see the glint of sweat forming between her breasts.

“Please, put it back in,” she pants.

I climb on top of her, my cock finding its own way in. She put her hands behind her head watching me. I ride her with easy, soft strokes, gradually ramming harder as I feel the passion begin to boil in my loins. I’m beginning to get to her too. She wraps her long legs around me, and we begin to move in rhythm. Her hands lock in mine, and together we scorch the universe, her screams echoing off the stars.

“Damn it, July,” I am the first to catch my breath, “you’re going to be the end of me yet.” We lay in a pile covered in sweat. I don’t have the strength to climb off her.

“The end of you!” she pants. “Do you realize how many times I came? That’s hard on my body, and I feel like a rag.”

We doze for a while not wanting to sleep for fear of missing some of our limited time together.

“July,” I ask, looking up, “what time is it in Minnesota?”

he smiles, “I don’t even know what time it is here. Why?”

“Well, because I always phone Mindy at six o’clock on Wednesday evening.”

“It would be nice to talk to her,” July tells me. I tried to talk to her from Sir Harry’s the other night, but it said her phone had been disconnected.

“Yeah, well she had a party the other night and some of her so-called friends used her phone to make some long-distance phone calls. I sent her some money to help pay the bill, but she had her phone taken out. Now she uses her friends’ phone down the hall. Anyway, Mindy and I set up a system. Every Wednesday night at six o’clock I phone a number in a phone booth not far from her place,” I tell July.

“Um, aren’t we cloak and dagger,” July smiles. “I’m so happy you’ve been talking to her, Bob. I’ve been very worried about, well, all of us, I guess.”

“I know,” I tell her all about how Mindy helped me get across the border and why I set up the phone booth system.

“It’s good to see you two working together,” she gets up and throws on her robe. “I think I have time for a shower. The phone is on the table over there. As long as we’re on shore, it works just like any other phone, but you’ll have to go through the operator.” She bends over and kisses me. I wait a few minutes and then give the operator the Minnesota number.
