This bind off creates a subtle row of eyelets
along the edge, which makes it great for afghans, shawls, and scarves that you want to attach fringe to after finishing. It tends to pull in a little on stockinette fabric, though this can be blocked out. On ribbing it looks great.

Knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch.

Pull the knit stitch over the purl stitch, binding it off.

Repeat steps 1 and 2 across the row, which leaves all purl stitches on the needle.

Turn the work and slip the first 2 stitches purlwise. Pull the first stitch over the second stitch, binding it off.

Slip the next stitch purlwise and pull the first stitch over this stitch. Repeat across the row until 1 stitch remains. Sew this stitch down to the knitting.

The I-Cord Bind Off creates
an I-cord band along the bind-off edge. This makes an attractive, flexible edging for necks, cuffs, pocket openings, and other places where you want something simple yet finished. If you are not a crocheter, substitute an I-Cord Bind Off for edges that call for a crochet trim.
