Kai and BC flew into a heavy storm. ‘I've never seen anything like this in the ice land,' Kai said into his headset mouthpiece.

‘It's raining ice,' said BC. ‘We are in the ice land but why is the storm so bad?'

‘We're close to the wind land border,' said Kai.

‘It's hard to see,' said BC.

‘I've turned on your eye-windscreen wipers,' said Kai. ‘I'm flying further into the ice land now. The storm will be behind us soon.'

But the storm got worse. Ice shards came down hard on the Jet-Luge.

Then Kai heard a noise.

‘Hail stones,' said Kai as he tried to dodge them. ‘But these ones are massive ice balls!'

‘I'll get them with my eye lasers,' said BC. He opened fire and hit a huge ball headed for the cockpit.

 

 

The giant ice ball exploded into a pile of burning dirt.

‘Inside those ice balls is fire and dirt,' said Kai staring. ‘And the outside is thick, hard ice. They have to be coming from a mutant.'

‘Mutant pests,' said a voice through the cockpit speakers. ‘Will Ritter reporting in for battle.'

‘Where have you been?' asked Kai.

‘I got caught in a freak storm,' said Will. ‘The ice balls are coming from a swarm of flying rock snakes.'

‘Flying ice-rock snakes,' said Kai. ‘I see them too now.'

Kai quickly looked up the pests on his watch.

‘They're mega-mutant pests,' Kai told Will. ‘Use your BG Net Shooter. Try and net them up. Then put them to sleep with the net's sleeping gas. We'll take care of the ice balls so you can fly straight in.'

‘Going in now,' said Will.

Kai used the Jet-Luge's front shooters to destroy the ice balls. BC spun round in his seat. He shot his eye lasers at the ice balls that were coming from all directions. ‘Keep it up, BC,' said Kai. ‘Will is going in now.'

Kai watched as a beast-net flew from Will's cockpit and wrapped itself around the swarm of pests.

‘Hitting them with sleep gas now,' said Will.

The mega-mutant pests stopped moving inside the net. Then the net floated away.

‘More trouble below,' said BC.

Kai looked down. ‘The two beasts have found each other,' he said. ‘They're battling on the ice.'

The two beasts were locked in battle. ‘Don't let the beasts see you,' Kai said to Will. ‘We need to surprise them. Hover while I get some beast data.'

‘Okay,' said Will.

Kai took a photo of a beast on his orb. The image popped onto the Jet-Luge's screen.

‘The Chillterratan beast you battled before is now a mega-mutant,' Kai said to Will. ‘It is bigger and has a lot more power. I'll check the other beast now. Then we can make some battle plans.'

Kai took a photo of the other beast. He watched as the image popped onto the screen.

‘This one has begun to change as well,' Kai said. ‘It has ice down its back now. But it isn't a full mega-mutant yet.'

‘Look! The other beast is going to do a four-tail attack,' said BC. ‘You battled this beast when it was a mutant, Will. Go in and do what you did in your last battle but watch out for changes. We'll handle the other beast. Battle team go!'

‘Sending Squirrel-bot SQ1 in now,' said Will. ‘He'll grab the beast by its nose.'

‘BC, fly out above the three heads,' said Kai. ‘Keep them looking up at you. I'll use the X-Foam Archer 2 on its arms.'

BC scratched behind his ear and his jet pack popped out onto his back. The he flew off towards the beast with three heads.

I'll plug up the arm shooting fireballs with rocks first,
thought Kai.
Then I'll dry out the arm shooting water.

Kai watched BC as he flew around the three heads.
Those heads don't know where to look first. Good job, BC. Now it's time for me to go in.

Kai flew in and fired rock after rock into the beast's arm shooting fireballs.

One arm blocked,
he thought and then he took a quick look at SQ1.

He's locked his tail onto the other beast's ice nose. It's pulled the beast's head back. It can't do any ice-flick attacks anymore like that. Smart move, SQ1.

Kai watched as Will's beast tried to free itself from the nose lock. Then he saw Will fly in to shoot a beast net round its head.
Nice work,
thought Kai.
He'll have it asleep with the sleeping gas in no time! I'll dry up my beast's water arm now with the new fire shooter.

Then there was an enormous noise.

 

 

Kai looked. Will's beast was stomping on the ice. It was angry.

Kai turned the Jet-Luge around. Then he saw the beast's tails. He knew it was getting ready to do a triple pulver-slam attack. ‘Get away from the three pulver-slam tails, Will,' he said. But the beast was too fast. Its three pulver-slam tails flew up and flicked Will's jet. It was sent tumbling towards the storm land.

Will's jet was thrown into the storm land.

The three-headed beast moved fast. It attacked the other beast while it was still looking up at Will. It sent the beast rolling along the ice. And then Kai's beast changed into a full mega-mutant.
