Chapter One

Heidi

T
he heat off his lips spread across my shoulder, casting a soft whisper into my ear. “Hey there, beautiful.” The delicate touch of his fingertips ran across my exposed flesh.

I wanted to turn around, see the man whose unrecognizable voice had just penetrated my daze. Turning my neck, he dodged my eyes. A blackened figure against the strobe lights was all I caught.

Tracing his hand up my arm, he followed the curve of my throat. “Do I know you?” I asked, making every attempt I could to look behind me.

But I was stuck, unable to move. A bar to my left, flailing arms and bodies to my right; behind me, a hard wall of body, pressed so firmly against my spine I barely had room to breathe.

The music blared, techno beats rained down around the crowd. And there was no place for me to go, no way to spin and see the man behind me.

I felt his mouth close in on my cheek, the stubble of his jaw brushing my skin. “You don't know me, not yet anyway.” His hands fell to my waist, gripping my hips. “But you're going to. And trust me, sweetheart...” He paused briefly, just long enough to squeeze his fingers deep into my curves. “You'll never forget me when I'm through with you.”

Is this guy fucking serious? Who the hell does he think he is?
He had some balls to walk up to me and say that shit. I tried to ignore the prickles riding my hair line, and making their way down my body.

Breathing through my nose slowly, I spoke into the air. “Is that right?” Forcing my voice out, it rode the shouts around us. “And what makes you think you even stand a chance with me?”

“You're still standing here,” he said, not wavering in his demeanor. Pushing the hair back over my shoulder, his lips trailed delicately over the edge of my ear. “Not to mention the fact your ass is rocking against my cock. Feel it?”

My lids shot open, eyes wide and surprised. I felt it, there was no denying the hard bulge hitting my backside. Inhaling heavily, my spine straightened. “You're sick,” I spat out. Whipping my head, I forced myself to spin around. “Who the fuck do you think you are?”

A thin smile spread across his face, curving high to one side. “Name's Silas, but most girls only make it to the first two letters while they're moaning my name.” Licking his lower lip, a devilish chuckle rolled off his tongue. “So you might as well just call me, Si.”

The man without a face, now engulfed my eyes. He was gorgeous, and fucking me with his mind as we stood there.

In the dark club his skin glowed a deep olive tone, teeth gleaming behind his smile. His piercing brown eyes were almost black in the darkness, and my thighs were on fire.

“Well, Silas, sorry but I'm here with friends.” Tilting my head, my arm leaned across the bar, grabbing my drink. I needed it badly, needed to calm the heat growing in my belly.

“Really?” He asked, arching a brow.

“Yeah,” I said, bringing the drink to my lips and taking a sip.

Silas began to laugh, head falling back hard, teeth brightly on display. I couldn't stop myself, I watched his muscles tighten under his shirt. Each one firming and rippling as his chest lifted with laughter.

“What?” I asked, twirling my wrist. The liquor rolled over the ice, splashing against the sides.

“I've been watching you since you walked through that door.” Bracing his arm against the bar top, he leaned in close. “And you came here all by yourself.” Walking his fingers over my shoulder, my body shook.

“So you're telling me you're a stalker then?” Arching my lips softly, I rolled the straw between my teeth..

Dipping into his elbow, his chest sat mere inches from my shoulder, inches from grazing my breast. “What I'm wondering is why a sexy thing like yourself is here all alone?” Dropping his eyes to my chest, he asked, “Where's your boyfriend?”

Huffing under my breath, my eyes flicked away. I didn't want to think about the asshole who just dumped me. The reason for my self intoxication that night, the dick named Kyle.

He broke it off with me two hours before I showed up at the club, and I wasn't hurt, or sad. I was just really pissed. Things had been going south for a few months, we grew distant. But the fucking guy couldn't even tell me to my face, nope he had to tell me through text message.

Pathetic.

I needed a man with a real set of balls. Not one who was going hide behind his phone.

Slurping harder on my drink, I heard the sound of air against glass. Looking down, it was gone. And I was ready for another. Silas had caught my aimless stare, and long drowning sip of alcohol. “Ah, okay.” Tapping the bar, he waved his hand. “Hit her with another, and put it on my tab.”

“No, no, you don't have to do that.” Resting my hand on his chest, I pressed against his muscles. And my body quivered. He was built hard as rock, firm as cement. He felt like a
real man,
maybe that's what I needed for the night?

A real man to take my mind off things, make me forget the asshole I had wasted so much time on.

What's wrong with a little rebound sex? People do it all the time, right? Live a little Heidi! You spend too much time with your face in the books and not enough time having fun.

And that was exactly how I ended up there, to have some fun for once. I was tired of being uptight and stressed all the time. I needed to live a little, you only live once.

“You don't have a choice, this one's on me.” The bar tender set the drink down, and Silas slid it into my hand. “Here, enjoy.”

“How do I know you didn't drop a drug in it?” Stirring the mixed drink, I playfully said, “You know, so you can have your way with me?”

“Honey, I was planning on having my way with you anyway. I don't need to drug you, I am the drug.” Winking, he brought his mouth to my neck. Soft kisses ran over my skin, goosebumps covering every inch of my body.

He wasn't like any guy I had ever met. Silas was bold, confident, and sexy as hell.

And right then, I knew I was going to let him have me for the night.

A night of letting free, and breaking all the rules I had laid in place for myself.

Rule one, never let a guy get in your head, you lose focus, and can lose yourself.

Rule two, always be in control.

And rule three, never fuck on the first date.

Tonight, I was throwing the rules out the window. I needed this, needed to taste what being a free spirit felt like for once. And so far, it felt amazing.

Maybe it was the alcohol talking, or the pissed off feelings stampeding through my gut, either way my cuffs were off.

His cologne surged my senses, electrifying my nerves. I couldn't stop my eyes from closing, or my head from falling back as his lips touched my skin.

Twining my fingers in his shirt, I broke the air between us, leaning into his chest. “I bet you think you're smooth, don't you?”

“I'm wondering if you're smooth.” His fingers brushed the hem of my skirt, following my inner thigh up. “You know you haven't told me your name yet.”

“You never asked,” I said, spreading my thighs slightly. I was wet already, I could feel my panties soaking the closer his hand came to my pussy. My legs were shaking, waiting for his fingertips to crest the tender skin.

“What's your name?” The heat off his tongue slid over my chin, flushing my face.

“Heidi.” Arching my back, I pushed against him harder.

“You want to dance, Heidi?” He asked, gliding his hand up my belly.

Nodding yes, he gripped my hand and walked me out to the floor. Silas started to roll his body in ways I never saw a guy move. Turning my back to him, I wrapped my arm around his neck, grinding my ass into his cock.

The music beat in the background, there were people all around us. But right then, it felt like just the two of us. Everything around me was a blur, a mesh of faces mixed in blackness.

Rolling to the tones floating out of the speakers, my body was a wave. Sliding up and down, twisting and rocking, sweat trickled over my ribs. This man was making me go crazy, creating a fire that ignited fireworks across my brain.

Silas ran his hands over my sides, just barely tracing the edges of my breasts. Every piece of me was screaming for him to touch me harder. Turning to face him, my fingers danced over his stomach, riding the stairway up to his throat.

Driving my hands into his hair, I tugged him into my face. Our lips pressed together, tongues wrapping wildly around each other. “You want to get out of here?” he asked.

“Yes, please.” The words came out composed of air, I wasn't even sure if they actually made a sound.

Holding my hand, he pulled me through the crowd. Pressing through the mass of people, he shoved the door open. A wave of cool air blanketed my body, calming the sweat streaming over my back.

Silas walked up to a motorcycle. Tossing me a helmet, he threw one leg over the leather seat. “Climb on.”

“Seriously? I'm in a skirt.” Holding the hard black helmet, I shot him a crooked stare.

“Yeah, I can see that, let's go,” he said, nodding his head.

Go for it, Heidi. There's a first time for everything. Why not tonight?

Sighing, I clipped the snap, and tugged the straps tight. Sliding behind him, I wrapped my arms firmly around his waist. “I've never been on one of these things before.”

Lifting the stand, Silas turned the key. The rumble bellowed up around my body, shaking me to the bones. Squeezing harder around his stomach, he said, “Don't worry, I'll go easy on you.” Hitting the throttle, we were gone.

I tried to talk to him while we were driving, but I had to practically scream everything into his ear. And as far as an answer goes, I basically got broken sentences I pieced together the best I could.

From what I could make out, he grew up in Maryland, and ended up in Georgia by some kind of transfer. From what? I couldn't make that out. He's twenty-four and works, that I understood. But I'm not sure where or what he does.

Slowing the bike down, we rolled into a small apartment building just outside of Atlanta, right in my own backyard. “Here we are, love.” The first thing out of his mouth I didn't have to strain to hear.

“So this is your place?” Yanking the helmet off my head, I did my best to smooth the strands of hair now tousled.

“Don't bother fixing your hair, I'm just going to mess it up again.” Smirking, he pulled the key from the ignition. “Come on in.”

Following him to a rickety set of stairs, the nerves in my stomach were starting to take hold. I had never done this before, gone off to have sex with some guy I didn't know. There was a whole different set of feelings streaming my body.

Excitement, fear, uncertainty. All coupled with pleasure, need, and desire. I didn't know what to do with them, so I forced myself to not think and just went with it.

This is a one time thing, that's it. One time.
I reminded myself as my feet clomped against the wood steps.

Jiggling the lock, the door popped open. “Welcome to my world.” Extending his arm, he guided me inside.

Closing the door behind us, a click from the lock echoed through the apartment. “Cute place,” I said, looking around. You could tell this was a bachelor pad. There were empty food containers left on the counter, clothes strewn about the furniture.
