Vows for Those Who were Childhood Sweethearts
"__________________, we have known each other since childhood when we played together in my back yard, making pancakes in the sandbox and swinging each other high on the rope swing that Dad hung in the apple tree. We were in preschool together at Mrs. Meredith's, and elementary school, too. Then, in junior high and high school, we spent many hours together as we studied for exams and attended the games and the school dances. When was it we fell in love? When we were 18? Or, 16? Or, maybe when we were 10...for it seems that I have always been in love with you, and I've always wanted you to be my husband/wife. And now, today, we stand here, in the presence of our family and friends, and commit ourselves to each other, to be faithful and true to each other for the rest of our lives. I love you, ______________, and I am so thankful we met at such a young age and that our friendship grew into a deep marriage-type love. I commit myself to you this day, ______________, and I promise to be your faithful husband/wife, to love and cherish you, in sickness or in health, in good times or bad, for richer or poorer, from this day forward and forevermore."
"Remember when we were children and we used to dress up and pretend we were bride and groom? Those were days of playful childish fantasies, but today is for keeps. Today you are a real bride/groom, and I am a real groom / bride...no more childishness...no more games of pretend. Today, as I give myself to you as your bride/husband, my mind is clear and my commitment is strong and without reservation as I

take you to be my life's partner. I will never leave you nor forsake you; I will spend all my days at your side, and leaving behind childish things, we will share a lifetime of eternal, immeasurable love."
(Customize your vows to include how you met and your own childhood memories.)
"Today is the most important day of our lives, the day we put our individual pasts behind us and go forward into the future as one. We have thousands of memories of our past: our childhoods, our growings-up, the day we met, the day we knew we were meant to be. But today is the first day of the rest of our lives and we will build new memories together. There will be no more you; and no more me; but only us, from this moment on. I promise to try, with God's help, to be the best husband / wife I can be, so that our memories will be treasures for all the years to come."
