"Dude, we're going to grab something to eat after this, you in?"

Without meeting his gaze, I shake my head. "Nah, I can't."

He looks perplexed because this is something we tend to do fairly often after practice.  And I'm always in.  So, I'm not totally surprised when he continues with a follow up question.

"Why the hell not?"

I shrug my shoulders hoping that he'll let it drop.  What?  It could happen.  "Just got some stuff to take care of."  I've decided not to tell anyone about this forced tutoring BS. Honestly, this feels like some dirty little secret I'm trying to keep under wraps. And since I'm fairly positive that none of my friends will be showing up at the library, it's as safe a place to meet as any. Because I've known these guys for years, I also know that if they catch even a whiff of this, they'll never let me live it down.

And I can't exactly say that I wouldn't do the same thing in their position either.

He laughs, jabbing me in the ribs with his elbow. "Oh, yeah, and who's
stuff
are you taking care of tonight?"

I almost smile before rolling my eyes. "I'm serious. I've got some college things I need to do."

"What kind of things?"  Again he looks perplexed which is kind of a comical look on him.  "Applications?"

Man, he is like a freaking dog with a bone. I slide my eyes to his. "What's with the fifty questions?"  Can't he just let this go?  Isn't it clear that I don't want to talk about it?

He shrugs his massive shoulders. "Just wondering what's so important that you'd skip going to Malone's. We need to go over some plays. You're key, dude." He pauses before cocking his head to the side. "Plus, you're being all vague.  It's suspect."

Of course I'm being vague!

I shake my head.  "I'm not being vague at all. My parents have been on me to look through some applications and get things figured out. That's all."  I want to gnash my teeth together.  While my teammates are going over plays for the upcoming game, I'll be sitting my ass in the library working with a tutor. This just keeps getting better and better.

Finally giving up, he says, "Well, if you change your mind, you know where we'll be."

I shrug knowing that I won't be joining them any time soon. Which only serves to piss me off even more.  Damn Ms. Fisk for calling my parents about a stupid C-.  That woman is a serious pain in my butt.  “Yeah, we’ll see.”

My anger and resentment carry me through the twenty minutes it takes to hit a drive thru, wolf down my burger and fries, and get to the library all with about five minutes to spare. I'm still grumbling as I push my way through the doors and head inside.

Okay.  Now that I'm here, I have absolutely no idea where to go. So, I pull out my phone and send a quick text to Jordan whatever-his-name-is.  His response is immediate.

Second floor, towards the back of the adult fiction section. Small table along the wall.

Fine.  Whatever.  I'm still mad as hell.

I'm just turning the corner when I see the tables off to the side. There are four of them but only one is occupied.  And it's by a girl.  Well, I think it's a girl anyway. Her head is bent over a book.

Huffing out an aggravated breath, I pull out my phone again and quickly start typing. I swear if this dude is messing with me, I will totally beat the crap out of him. That's the kind of mood I'm in. Hell, I might just beat the crap out of him anyway.  I have to admit that the thought kind of cheers me up a little bit.

As I'm waiting, my eyes slide over the girl again.  She's wearing a red baseball cap on her head.  I don't know any girls who would be caught dead wearing a ball cap in public.  Okay, maybe when they're working out, but that's about it.  And those are usually black or bright pink with rhinestones or some sparkly crap like that.  Plus, I've figured out that wearing anything on their head ruins their hair style, which is a huge no-no, and gets in the way of them flipping their hair around.

I watch as she pulls out her phone and starts tapping the screen.  A moment later my phone vibrates. My eyes narrow as I stare at the girl again before glancing down at the screen on my phone.  Then my eyes bounce back to her.  My anger surges to life once again.

This chick is my tutor?

Hmmm. She looks small, like she's in middle school or something. Oh, when I see Ms. Fisk again, she will seriously rue the day she messed with Parker Montgomery. She's probably laughing her ass of right now at the thought of some genius middle school girl having to help me with my homework.

Gnashing my teeth together, I stalk towards her and just as I'm about to reach the table she glances up.

Oh. Hell. No.

You've got to be kidding me.

I toss my backpack onto the table she's sitting at as I stare down at her.  But her gaze doesn't waver.  Not even for a moment. In fact, there's a rather wry look filling her bright green eyes and it suddenly occurs to me that she probably knew about this whole set up on Friday when we spoke.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Beer Girl."  I lower myself slowly onto the chair situated directly across from her.  "So, how's your favorite sweater?"

Chapter Four

Her lips twitch up at the corners and I can tell she's loving the fact that she's gotten one over on me. Well, she better enjoy it while she can because it won't be happening again.

"As much as it pains me to say it- you were right, Woolite did the trick. So, I guess that's one point in your favor." Then she adds, "Unfortunately you're already heading into this with a ton of points against you. And, more than likely, those points will only continue to stack up in the future."

Damn but her words have something hot arrowing straight to my gut. Well, actually, its arrowing someplace a little lower than that...

Have I mentioned that her lips look seriously kissable?

Well trust me, they do.

I hate to actually admit this, especially after all my bitching and complaining about having a tutor in the first place, but I'm kind of liking that she's the one I'm stuck with. This dirty little secret has turned into a nice long string of dirty little fantasies. Because right now, a whole bunch of them are rolling happily through my head. Hmmm, I suppose I won't be wringing Ms. Fisk's scrawny neck after all. I may actually have to thank the old bat for setting this up.

Slouching a little lower in my chair, I can't help but stare. This whole situation could turn out extremely well for me if I play my cards right. Which, let's face, I usually do. I may have been thrown off my game on Friday night, but that won’t be happing again.

Beer Girl isn't going to know which end is up when I'm through with her. I'm trying my damnedest to wipe the grin off my face but I don't think it's working.

As if sensing danger, she slowly cocks her head to the side. "I know exactly what you're thinking, Montgomery, and it's not going to happen. Not in your
wettest
wildest dreams. So let’s just drop it and focus on the reason we're here today. And that would be your lousy grades."

That's it. I can't contain the smile any longer. And honestly, she pretty much asked for it. I like to call this my
panty dropper smile
. I won't go into specifics as to why I refer to it as such. Let's just say that it's extremely effective. "Excuse me?" I murmur in my most offended voice, "I'm
extremely
focused on my school work. That's the whole reason I agreed to this. I'm
all
about improving my grades."

Pursing her lips, she slowly shakes her head back and forth. "You've been here a whole five minutes and already I'm having to call bullshit. Another point against you, Parker."

I do my best to look wounded by her words. "That hurts, Jordan." Then I point to my heart. "Right here." I like the way her name tastes on my lips. I think I'm going to like the way lots of things taste on my lips...

She snorts as if she's not buying what I'm selling. Which, in all honesty, is a first for me. "I think you need to lower that hand a good eighteen inches. Because that's where you're probably feeling it. Or should I say, that's where you're
not
going to be feeling it."

And just like that, a gauntlet has been thrown down.

Even though it won’t do a damn bit of good, I can’t resist giving her a warning. "If you know what's good for you, you won't throw around statements like that," I close my eyes briefly as if pained by her words, "because all you're doing is setting this up to be a challenge. And I don't think you want to do that." Opening my eyes, I aim them straight at her. Then I lean forward before whispering softly, "There's absolutely nothing more that I love than a good challenge. And I swear if I bring my A game, you'll never know what hit you."

Instead of backing off like I expect, she scoots in closer until our faces are mere inches apart. I can see the ridiculous amount of gold churning with in her gorgeous green eyes. The color kind of reminds me of freshly mowed grass and I can't help but lean forward a bit more as if drawn to them. Her words are just as quietly uttered, "Bring it, Montgomery, because I can assure you that you won't be
hitting
anything of mine with anything of yours anytime soon. That's a promise."

"I would strongly advise against making promises you can't keep. It'll only make you feel foolish when you finally give in. And there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that you won’t surrender sooner rather later." This conversation has turned out to be a serious turn on. I just want to go all caveman on this girl and toss her over my shoulder before hightailing it out of here. But I'm fairly certain that would be frowned upon by the library staff and perhaps even by a few of the other patrons. So, I’ll refrain. There'll be enough time for that later. Right now, I'm savoring this little cat and mouse game we have going on between us.

This girl is totally giving me the business. And yeah, I am absolutely loving it. What I can't decide is if her attitude is a game or if she's genuinely not interested.

I mean, is it actually possible she's not interested in me?  It seems unlikely.  I’ve never met a girl who wasn’t interested.

Hmmm.

And then it's like I'm being slammed upside the head by an idea I hadn’t considered. I'm seriously wondering how I didn't see it before. Actually, I really should have realized it at the party. Damn, but I knew something was off that night and I just couldn't put my finger on it. Now that I've had time to think about it, the ball cap is a dead giveaway.

"Oh, I get it." Sitting back, I suddenly smirk as my eyes slide down the length of her.

Jordan's just reaching for the books in her brown leather messenger bag when her brows draw together. "What exactly do you get, Parker? That you're not all that? Because if so, we're making more headway than even I could have dreamed possible." She looks at me as if I’m a slow witted child who has finally learned how to tie his own shoes before gushing, "I'm so proud of you!"

I roll my eyes.

Is this chick for real?

Of course I'm all that. I've had years and years of girls fawning all over me to prove it. But at least I finally understand why
she's
not fluttering her lashes and giggling and running her hands all over me like girls normally do. "You're a lesbian, aren't you?"

She stops midway from pulling out her books and just stares at me. Her eyes widen. She seems surprised by what I've just suggested. Maybe she thought she was being all covert-like, but I'm onto her. Nothing, and I do mean
nothing,
gets past Parker Montgomery. And yeah, once in a while I like to refer to myself in the third person. Doesn't everybody?

I lean back in my chair, folding my hands behind my head. Of course I know this makes my muscles bulge against my t-shirt. Most girls would be drooling by now, but she doesn't which only proves my point even further.
Definitely
a lesbian. "Don't worry, it's cool."

"Wow..." she says slowly, "how did you figure it out so quickly?"

I shrug. Yeah, I have pretty good gay-dar although I'll admit it took me a while to crack the code on this one. Honestly? The major tip off was the ball cap. Like I said before, no self-respecting girl would be caught dead in one of those. "You just really give off that lesbo vibe."

She makes a little choking sound before repeating, "The
lesbo
vibe, huh?"

"Look, it's no big deal." Unable to help myself, I lean forward because instead of images of her and I rolling through my head- I'm imagining her and some other hot chick getting it on. Now
that
is something I would love to see.

"Well, I'm glad you're okay with my lifestyle choice."

I can’t help the slow grin that spreads its way across my face.  "Oh, believe me, I am totally fine with it." More fine than she can possibly imagine with all those thoughts renting space in my head. But I decide to keep that to myself for the time being.

Chick on Chick.

Seriously. Hot.

Need I say more?

Didn't think so.
