“Hey,”
he said moving to the urinal. Grey looked away while Paul took care of
business.

“I’m
heading out,” Grey said though his feet seemed permanently attached to the
floor. “I want to beat the traffic.”

“Yeah?”
Paul washed his hands, which seemed to shake as he dried them. “Sounds like a
plan.”

“What
about you? Are you sticking around or is there somewhere else you might want to
go?”

“I’m
on the clock still. Vinnie might need backup.” This was a whisper as he moved
closer. His gaze flitted to the door. “I think we just scored a touchdown.”

The
whole building seemed to shake from the jubilation overhead.

“That’s
too bad. Not about the touchdown, I mean.” Grey stepped back into the swinging
door of the farthest stall and nearly stumbled when it opened except Paul
caught him. “It must be a really good game.”

“Sounds
like it,” Paul whispered against his mouth his hands slid along Grey’s spine
under his shirt. “You look so good tonight. All hot in those clothes. Makes me
want to climb you like a stripper pole.”

Grey
laughed letting his hands sink into Paul’s mane of golden hair.

“Lock
the damned door.” Paul did, and Grey lost his fucking mind. The cold tile
pressed against him from behind, Paul in front. Mouth to mouth, he could count
Paul’s rapid heartbeats. “Kiss me before I do something stupid like come to my
senses.”

He
pulled Paul’s hair and forced the kiss. Hot lips, wet mouth, impatient tongue.
He melted against the wall. Paul moaned into his mouth taking his kiss and
returning everything. His body rocked into Grey’s, hard, demanding. Hot fingers
glided beneath his shirt, over his ribs to his nipples. He returned the moan as
Paul pinched him. A knee slid between his legs then a second. Grey opened for
him, letting Paul lift him onto his toes if it meant keeping the exquisite
pressure against his cock.

“I
want you so damned much.” Paul broke the kiss long enough to gasp the words.
His fingers ghosted down Grey’s stomach to linger in his navel before freeing
the buttons on his jeans. Grey slid his hands down Paul’s back over his shirt
to grip his ass. He pulled him closer, roughly. Cold tile pressed against his
ass, hot flesh pressed against his groin, he hadn’t noticed anything but the
fire raging behind Paul’s eyes, turning them gold.

“Paul,”
he gasped at the flood of heat, so silky he couldn’t remember his own name. His
body wanted this. Craved this. The long fingered hand holding their cocks
together, the slippery heat of his own fucking need. Paul watching him, his
mouth only a fraction from his. “Need you so fucking much.”

His
feet left the floor as Paul shoved him against the wall his knees spreading
wider to support Grey’s weight. “I want more than this. I want everything.”

“God,
feels so fucking good.” He couldn’t close his eyes or look away he could only
hold on for the ride. “Oh fuck, too good.” Before he could finish the thought
or follow through with what he was going to say Paul stepped away, taking his heat
with him. Grey grabbed his shoulders to steady himself on the floor. “What?”

“What
is it about you?” His voice wavered, his gaze flickered with ice that chilled
Grey.

“I
could ask you the same question.” Grey moved to straighten his clothes but Paul
took his hand in his.

“That’s
not what I meant.” His voice changed, becoming softer, he looked away as he
reached into his pocket and pulled out a square of colorful plastic. Tearing it
open with his teeth he pulled the slick latex circle out.

Another
round of screaming and stomping shook the rafters. Grey looked to the ceiling
and then turned to face the wall. Slick fingers slid between his cheeks to
touch him in that spot that craved this man’s touch. He pushed back at the
first tentative breech.

“Did
he hurt you? I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Who?”
The question didn’t make sense, and then it did. “Oh, no. It wasn’t. He didn’t.
I wouldn’t let him go that far.” Hot breath bathed his neck at Paul’s relieved
sigh.

“I
need to. It’s your call.” The finger inside him touched that spot that did the
most incredible things to him.

Grey
leaned back, turning his head to capture Paul’s mouth kissing him with all the
longing in his soul.

“Fuck
me. God I want you to.”

They
stood quietly for several heartbeats. Grey listened to the echoing quiet of the
restroom and the thundering feet on the stadium above them. He’d lost his mind.
Never, not once, in all of the stupid escapades of his youth had he had sex in
a public place. Not once. He sucked in a breath as Paul ended that streak, the
blunt head of his latex covered cock pushed inside him and Grey pushed back.
Mouth to mouth he moved with Paul, slowly at first, the slick heat inside him
stretching muscles long unused. Paul’s arms circled him like a vice, one hand
on his neck, holding him gently the other on his belly, stroking him as he
moved lower.

“Fuck,
Grey. Oh, fuck.” His voice was ragged, his breath coming hard and fast. He
snapped his hips hard into Grey and froze, hissing against Grey’s lips. “Wanted
to make this last. Wanted it too much.”

“It’s
okay,” Grey whispered, his body buzzing so loudly he was sure the crowd above
them could hear it through the walls. He covered Paul’s hand and eased it lower
gasping as the rough palm covered him. “I’m not far behind. Fuck me. Hard. Make
me scream.”

And
that’s what it became. Fucking. Grey held himself off the wall with both hands
while Paul pounded into him. He didn’t care if anyone came in. He fucked back,
riding wave after wave of pleasure. Paul wrapped his long fingers around his
neck forcing Grey’s head back further, teeth grazed his tongue, the hand
sliding up and down his cock in imitation of each thrust had him nearly
begging.

“Come
for me. I want to feel it in my hand. I want to swallow my name. Come for me,
Grey.”

His
skin grew tight, sensation like electricity crackled all over his body, his
toes curled, his knees threatened to give out. He filled Paul’s hand breathing
his name into the kiss that swallowed his soul. Paul gasped, the hand at his
neck clasped him tight. He slammed into the wall, Paul ramming into him, hard,
the sounds he made guttural, rough, angry.

“Fuck,
fuck. Oh, fuck.” One last thrust that pinned Grey to the wall, heat filling
him, Paul’s heartbeat against his back, fast and furious.

“Oh,
fuck.” His hips jerked as he emptied himself, his moans growing soft against
Grey’s ear. Teeth nipped at his neck and he turned to taste his lover’s lips as
his name slipped out. Upstairs all hell seemed to break loose. The rafters
shook. And Paul laughed.

“Yeah,
it was just like that.”

Chapter
Eleven

The
pounding of his own heart drowned out the thundering noise from the stadium.
Paul rested his head on Grey’s shoulder. He didn’t want this to end. Sweet lips
nuzzled his forehead. His phone vibrated against his leg.

“Shit,”
he swore softly as voices echoed in the empty room. They weren’t alone anymore.
“Be still.” He pulled out as quickly as he could and scrambled onto the toilet
where he dropped the condom and tried to pull his jeans up while crouching on the
john.

“Dude
hurry up and piss, or we’re leaving your ass here.”

He
looked into Grey’s eyes. His face gone stark white. He seemed dazed. Paul
ignored the second buzzing in his pocket as he tugged Grey’s clothes back into
place. He didn’t say anything. He held onto both walls of the stall facing the
toilet until the kids were gone and it was quiet again.

“I
can’t believe we just…If they’d come in two minutes…What if someone saw you? Or
me? Or—" Grey closed his eyes as he swayed on his feet. “I mean we just
fucked. At a school—I could go to prison.”

“You
won’t go to prison,” Paul said but his heart slammed in his chest at the
thought of what
could
have happened if those kids had come in any
earlier.

“At
worst my reputation will be completely ruined. And not just because you’re
playing at being a student. Christ, we had public sex at a school event. I’m a
teacher. I’ve lost my fucking mind.” Grey didn’t look at him. His hands shook
as he brushed his hair back from his face.

The
phone vibrated again, this time Paul couldn’t ignore it. He pulled it out to
see Vinnie’s number flash. He answered. “About fucking time, Pauly, I need you
down here. Shag your ass.”

“Yeah,
okay, I’m on my way. I’ve got a situation here—"

“No
fucking way. I need you here now. Shit’s hitting the fan tonight.” Paul held
the phone away from his ear.

“Go.
Just go. You’re…I…Just go, okay.” Grey leaned back against the wall, the same
wall that glistened with cum a few inches over.

“I’m
on my way.” Paul disconnected and climbed off the toilet. Cum dried on his
hand. There was a damp spot on his jeans. He fixed his pants and pulled the
loose flannel shirt off and tied it around his waist.

On
his way past Grey, he paused and brushed his hair out of his face with shaking
fingers.

“I
didn’t want to hurt you. Looks like that’s exactly what I did.”

Hand
on the door latch, Grey’s touch stopped him. Metal slid into his hand. “You
didn’t hurt me. Scared the hell out of me. But…Don’t be seen, okay?” Paul closed
his fingers around the keys and nodded.

“I’ll
see you as soon as I can,” he whispered, and let himself out just as another
thundering roar filled the room. He heard the lock slide home as he washed his
hands and then he was gone. Off to see what mess Vinnie and a bunch of
teenagers had managed to get themselves into so quickly.

* * * * *

The
number three flipped over on his alarm clock. He huddled in the dark watching
lights flash across the mural covered window over his bed. After Paul left him
shaking in the men’s room, he’d put himself back together and left the game
behind. He drove for what felt like hours. Probably was only one hour. Went
through a drive thru for food he didn’t taste and then drove some more, finally
ending up in his assigned parking space in front of his building downtown. He
wondered what Paul was doing and then forced himself to stop wondering.

Paul
was capable of taking care of himself. He was probably taking down drug dealers
right then. Or having sex with someone else in a toilet. Maybe him and Vinnie
were fucking and laughing at him. Or—Grey showered and turned his iPod on, and
the lights off, but sleep didn’t come. One o’clock, then two, followed by
three…He heard the unmistakable sound of a key scraping in his door. And the
creak of the nearly century old door. Paul’s slender form stood outlined by the
stairway light. Grey relaxed for the first time that night. He reached for the
bedside light and turned it on.

“Hey,”
Paul said, exhaustion in his voice. He stripped out of the shirt he’d worn
earlier. The gun holster he
hadn’t
worn earlier following, along with
the shield. He left everything on the sofa in the living room. “Would you mind
if I showered? I smell like filth.”

“No,
that’s fine.” He rolled onto his side feigning a yawn. “Tough night?”

“Tough?
Yeah, pretty much. Vinnie stumbled into something he couldn’t handle alone. We
played kids until the real kids were all hauled away and then the real fun
started.” Paul dragged his shirt over his head, his voice muffled by the
material. He turned to step out of his jeans and boxers and Grey drew in a
startled breath at the sight of his back. A scar sliced across one shoulder,
like a puckered shooting star. Chinese block letters ran down his spine in
black ink. Pierced, tattooed and scarred with the face of a child. “The tattoos
or the scar?”

Grey
knew what he meant, he didn’t have to ask. “The scar. It’s—"

“Seven
years old, but ugly.” He pulled the rubber band from his hair letting the blond
strands fall around his face as a distraction.

“You
were shot?” The distraction didn’t work.

“My
first year in narcotics. My cover was blown. The dealer I was getting friendly
with decided I wasn’t trustworthy, put a slug in me, then sliced at the wound
for shits and giggles. Chicago was so much fun back then.”

“And
the tattoos?” Grey didn’t want the visual but he could picture the angel faced
kid lying on the ground. He shook his head to clear the vision.

“The
first one is family. I got it before I came out to my father. The second is
strength. I got it after he turned his back on me. The third is trust. The last
one is honor.” He stepped into the bathroom ending the conversation. His
shoulders seemed to slump. A short time later Paul returned drying his hair,
steam radiating off his body.

Grey
moved over hoping Paul would take the hint and join him. He did after throwing
the towel over the door. “You don’t mind sleeping with me?”

“Sleep…Sleep
would be so nice. With you, it sounds positively sinful.” He moved into the
bed, lying on his side facing Grey, sheet over his nude body. Reaching out he
stroked Grey’s face.
