“No,” she said, giggling when Conn choked on air. “I don’t want to be one or the other, I want to be both.”
“You sure?”
“Yes.” The answer came easily.
“Because if you’re not,” he nodded toward the realtor’s sign—and winked, “I can get my mom to draw up the papers and make that legit.”
Nia spun in the circle of his embrace. All that’d registered when she caught sight of the sign were the words “For Sale” at the top. She hadn’t taken the time to digest the smaller details, such as the hinged section at the bottom bearing the agent’s name.
Maggie Lawler, sales representative.
“You tricked me.”
“Creatively misled.” His warm breath and deep voice tickled her ear, making her shiver. He hugged her tighter. “But I am serious. I’ll list the place right now, if that’s what I need to do to keep you right here where it matters, in my arms.”
She shifted enough to meet his eyes with her head tipped up. “How about you put that creativity to better use and find more interesting ways to keep me where you want me?”
Another smile slid into place on Conn’s handsome face. A sexy one. A hungry one. One that made the butterflies in her stomach go wild. “With pleasure, sweetheart.”
