“Hi, it’s nice to meet you Judy.” I said pulling away as I smelt a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. “Okay. Well you guys go dance, have fun, I gotta find my man.” She said in a flirty, erotic way and walked away.

Austin offered me a can of soda. I used my nail and opened it and took a drink.

“Don’t mind her. She gets plastered early.” He acknowledged.

I laughed “It’s okay. I had a friend back home that acted just like her. I actually caught her in the car, having sex with my boyfriend at the time.” I said. I was talking about Kellie.

“Wow that had to be painful to see; your best friend and your boyfriend in a swaying car.” He said bring back the memories of the night with Kellie and Kevin.

“Yeah…it was.” I admitted sluggishly as a flash of memories came over me. I swiftly shook it off.

“I know…I had it happen to me before too.” He admitted to me. “We’ve got a lot in common.” He said.

“Or the fact that we both have exes that are filthy sluts that can’t keep their pants on. But I don’t consider that as “a lot in common.”” I said with a laugh.

              He chuckled back.

A slow song began to play on the stereo.

              “Wanna dance?” He requested sheepish.

I thought about dancing with Jesse. I thought about when we danced on my birthday in my mother’s dress. I wanted to be furious at him but perhaps there was more to the story. I needed my answers to that. I wanted to know what happened to my father. But I brushed it off for the time being when I seen that Austin was staring at me for a reply.

“Sure.” I said as I took his hand and placed my soda on the counter.

He led me to the dance floor and placed his hand on the small of my back. He pulled me in closer as he took my other and in his and held it up. He began to sway with me to the music. I rested my head on his chest as we danced.

Meanwhile

Bill, Jesse, James and Sarah had gone back to the house in Niagara Falls.

Sarah tenderly placed her lips against Jesse and kissed him. He pulled away.

“Sarah…I’m so glad you came back but as I told you before….I just can’t be with you.” Jesse told Sarah as they sat in my room on my bed.

“That’s good Jesse because I have a few confessions to make.” She said. “That kiss was just a goodbye kiss.” She confessed. “I’m in love with James… and JJ isn’t your son.”

“What? Then whose son is he?” He inquired.

“He’s James’ ” She admitted. “And there’s more…Bill brought me back here to hurt you…He took Jamie and placed a camera in your hotel room. He was showing her us…When we kissed in the hotel.” She hesitated “I’m so sorry I never told you…I still don’t know what he did to her.” She admitted.

“Well…this would have been great to know that day before I kissed you. I would’ve never done that if I knew she was watching us.” He said bluntly. “And you said that he forced her watch us…”

“I don’t know how much she seen. I’m hoping she seen it all. Maybe she’ll know you love her and not me.” She confessed. “I don’t know anything else. All I know is that they deliberately hurt her by bringing me back into your life. Bill thinks that you and I are together…” She said. “But James and I have decided to break the news to him, as soon as James gets back. We must to tell Bill that we are a couple and JJ is actually James Jr.” She admitted.

“Where did he go?” He asked not caring about anything else she was saying.

“…I’m not sure. He said it was a business trip.” She said.

“Do you have any information about where Bill took her?” He asked focusing solely on me.

“I don’t…if anyone knows then its James…talk to him…see if you can’t get something out of him.” She said as she walked out of my bedroom door. Jesse placed his head on my pillow and hugged it. It was killing him that I had gone missing but I had no clue.

Back in Hawaii

Austin and I had completed our dance and went back to the kitchen.

“It’s getting late. I better get home.” I said. “Thanks for the dance.”

“You’re welcome Ami. Maybe we can do it again sometime.” He said with a smile.

“Possibly…well good night.” I said as I turned around to walk away.

“Wait…perhaps I should walk you home. You don’t know the area very well and I don’t want you walking by yourself.” He said to me.

“Okay. Thank you Austin, you’re very thoughtful.” I said to him.

I laced my arm into his as he moved us through the crowd and out the door. I continued to hold on to his arm as we walked on the sandy beach. I had removed my shoes and was carrying them. The sand between my toes felt wonderful. I hadn’t been to a beach since I was 13. The breeze felt amazing as it rushed towards us.

“So, what’s your favorite color?” He asked.

“I love sky blue.” I said.

              “What about yours?” I asked.

              “Mine’s red.” He said.

“That’s cool.” I said and smirked up at him.

We continued to walk mostly in silence, only breaking the silence when we had a question about the other, until we reached my little shack. I walked to the door and got my keys out of my pocket.

“Thank you for a wonderful day. And for walking me home.” I said.

“You’re Welcome Ami.” He said as he placed his hand on my neck and rested his palm on my cheek just like Jesse did. He guided my face towards his, licked at his lip and kissed me.

Chapter 2

I kissed back but swiftly but reluctantly pulled away. “I’m sorry. I can’t do that…we can’t do that…I’m sorry. I have to go.” I said and opened my door.

I ran in and shut it. I felt bad for shutting the door in his face but I didn’t feel comfortable kissing anyone right now. I didn’t want to kiss him. I only wanted to kiss Jesse. I missed him so much. But he is with Sarah now. They are happy. They are in love. Why couldn’t I be in love again? What’s stopping me from kissing a really good looking guy? I took a deep breath, opened the back door again and looked out. Austin was walking back towards the direction we came.

“Austin!” I shouted and ran off the deck.

He turned around as I was running towards him. When I reached his arms I flung myself on him. He fell to the ground and I placed my lips upon his. He clutched the back of my head and held me as we intensely kissed. I finally pulled away from him.

“What was that all about?” He asked in disbelief with a chuckle.

“I’m sorry…was that not okay? I’m sorry. Now I feel stupid.” I admitted stumbling through my words again.

“No, Ami, it was delightful. I just thought that you didn’t want to kiss.” He said.

              “I didn’t… at first.” I admitted.

              “And now?” he questioned.

              “Well, I’m here aren’t I?” I said with a giggle.

He grabbed me again and kissed me. Finally after a few minutes of kissing I slipped out from his arms and stood back up. He got up too. “So, I’ll see you tomorrow?” He asked.

“Yeah, I’ll see you tomorrow.” I said and gave him one last peck.

I turned around and walked back toward my house. I could hear my heart throbbing in my chest. I haven’t felt like this since I first met Jesse. I walked toward the house and turned around toward Austin. I waved to him and he waved back. He turned around and began walking back down the beach not looking back. It was dark and I couldn’t see anything. I placed my hand on the door to the house and felt someone snatch me. The person placed a hand on my mouth so I wouldn’t yell and placed a sharp knife at my throat.

“Open the door” A male voice order.

I franticly opened the door. The man behind me pushed me inside but kept me close to him. I heard the door shut behind me as he detached his hand from my mouth. The knife was still pressed against my throat. I could hear Cody breathing and rubbing up against us. Why wasn’t he protecting me?

“You can remove the knife, I’ll cooperate.” I admitted fearfully and hopelessly.

“I know you will.” The intruder said in a more sincere tone. I recognized the voice but couldn’t tell who it was.

The knife was lowered and I was ordered to sit down.

I sat down in the dining room chair.

A light came on to expose my intruder.

              “JESSE!” I said in excitement.

He laughed. “Guess again sweet cheeks.”

“James. What the hell are you doing here?” I asked as I felt my heart break. He sat in the chair near me.

He snickered “I came to pay you your $1000. I will be here every month around the fifth of the month.”

              “Okay cool.” I said.

He extended the $1000 out for me to take from his hand. I reached for it. He pulled it back.

“So, you look like you’re enjoying yourself. I didn’t realize you would move on so quickly.” He said.

“That’s none of your business.” I said.

“Oh really, Perhaps I should just take this money back and leave then.” He said.

“No, I need that money James.” I begged.

“Are you going to tell me about him?” He asked.

I took a deep breath and realized it was hopeless to debate with him. “He’s a local. His name is Austin. We spent some time together today. I just met him earlier.” I admitted.

“And you kissed him? You just met him.” He annoyingly pointed out. “You’re a whore just like your mother.”

“The kiss was a mistake. I was thinking about Jesse the entire time.” I lied. “And don’t talk about my mother like that!”

“Ahh, Yeah Jesse...” He said overlooking my other comment.

“How is he by the way?” I asked in concern.

“Oh, don’t worry about him. Sarah is keeping him completely occupied.” He lied.

              I hung my head.

“Remember, you’re supposed to tell us everything. Bill wouldn’t accept another boyfriend this quick. You need to break it off with him. Do not see him again.” He warned.

“Okay James…I’m sorry…” I said lying again. I wanted to tell him what he wanted to know so he would leave. I really liked Austin and I wasn’t about to kiss him and not see him again.

“Here.” James said placing the money on the table. “I’ll see you soon. But I have to get back. It’s a 10 hours flight to get back home. It’s gonna be a rough night.” He said to me.

He got up from the table. “Don’t forget Jamie. We’ll be watching.” He warned again.

              He walked towards the door.

Behind a bush was a shadow of a person. The person observed as James and I exited the house on the deck. James pulled me in for a hug and walked away. I stood puzzled as I watched him leave. It hurt when I seen him because he looked just like Jesse. I wanted Jesse back so bad. I hung my head and walked back into the house. I locked the door and headed down the hall to take a shower. The person watched as I disappeared into the house and walked away unnoticed.

I went down the hall with Cody at my feet. I guess he thought James was Jesse and that is why he didn’t attack him to save me. Although, James wouldn’t have hurt me unless I did something to make him angry or Bill told him to. Not that I would care if he finished what he started. He already took everything away from me; why not take my life too? I reached the bathroom and turned on the light. The wind whipped around outside. A rainstorm was coming. I removed my clothes and pitched them into the hamper. Cody lay on the floor of the bathroom in front of the door like he did every night. I climbed in the shower and turned on the water. The warm water rushed down my body and beat on my head. It felt so amazing in the shower. I had to wash all the sand off my body from the beach today. I had sand in places that I didn’t think I would.

After I finished my shower I turned it off. I grabbed a towel and wiped my face. I took a glance over toward the window and seen a shadow stoop down. Someone was watching me. Cody didn’t seem alarmed. I swiftly walked to my bedroom and left the light off to see if I could see the person outside again. Nothing…I swiftly threw some sweat pants on and a t-shirt and sat on my bed. I heard a knock at the front door. I inhaled deep. My heart pounded in my chest. Cody ran to the door and was wagging his tail wanting me to open it. I opened a little table’s drawer and pulled out my gun. I positioned it behind my back as I heard another knock. Not like it was going to do me any good, Jesse never did get around to teaching me how to shoot it. I placed my hand on the door knob and unlocked it. I counted to three in my head and opened the door swiftly.  The familiar face stared at me.
