MAKEI DAVIS
was one of the most highly paid athletes in professional football. Being a first-round draft pick from Notre Dame had a lot to do with it. He was handsome, charming, intelligent, and had a body made of pure steel. Superman would be jealous of Makei’s chest, arms, legs, and back. Women, and a few men, drooled over him.

Demi met him in a grocery store one night when she’d traveled to San Francisco on business. He was buying cough medicine because he was suffering from a serious head cold, while she was looking for anything to relieve flu symptoms: aching pains all over her body, as well as sneezing, coughing, congestion and fever.

He looked horrible and Demi felt terrible. She still managed to put on a pair of stilettos, which was one of the reasons Makei noticed her. He told her later that he admired a woman who cared about her appearance even when sick with the flu. They both reached for the same cough medicine at the same time. Makei was a gentleman, allowing her to take the last bottle while he settled for the store brand. They made small talk as they picked up other things like tissues, Vicks Vapor rub, and cough drops.

The next day, Demi was lying in bed when there was a knock on her hotel door. Annoyed, she yanked open the door, and was surprised when a bellhop handed her a bouquet of yellow roses and a bottle of flu medicine with a purple ribbon tied around it. The bouquet looked like at least two dozen roses and the card simply read: get better soon. I want to take you out for dinner. Makei.

Demi was touched by his act of kindness. She loved the roses. Yellow roses were her absolute favorite. How could he have known that? Thinking back to their conversation, she remembered telling him she loved yellow roses as they walked pass the flower section of the store and that purple was her favorite color

she thought, smiling. She set the flowers on the bar and took out her cell phone. Within minutes, she had Makei’s personal information. Instead of calling him, she sent a letter via messenger.

Makei, impressed by her ability to gather information, smiled when he read her note. “Thanks for the flowers,” she wrote. “They are beautiful. No one has ever been so thoughtful, especially a total stranger. Let me make this up to you soon. Thoughtfully yours, Deminis Bradshaw.”

He called her at the hotel the next day and they talked for hours. Demi was scheduled to fly to Las Vegas the day after that, so they made plans to get together that evening. Dinner turned out amazing. They talked about everything. Learning that they shared some of the same passions, had many things in common, and that Demi was a huge football fan, Makei knew he had met his future wife.

A few months later, he visited her in Las Vegas, where she now worked and that was the start of their blossoming relationship. They became friends quickly and soon after lovers. Demi fell hard for Makei. Whenever she had the time, she flew to San Francisco to visit him, and once the football season started, she attended all of his home games, and even a few of his away games. All of the other players’ wives and girlfriends loved Demi and her amazing stilettos, dubbing her the name “Stacks”.

They were the perfect couple, until one week when Makei was in town visiting her for a few days.
The weekend went by perfectly as usual. When Demi left for work that Monday morning, Makei seemed a bit strange. Over the weekend he received several text messages that he said was just business. Getting an unnerving feeling, Demi decided to leave work early that day and spend more time with him before he left that evening. After stopping at the grocery store to buy some of Makei’s favorite foods so she could prepare dinner, Demi dropped into one of her favorite shoe stores and purchased a pair of stilettos sure to please. Made of red lace and satin, the shoes looked great on her. Makei would love seeing her in them with nothing else.

Feeling optimistic about the evening to come, Demi was smiling as she pulled into the parking garage beneath her building. When she entered her condo, she called out Makei’s name, but he didn’t answer. She got a weird feeling, but then she heard water running in the shower. She undressed, deciding to surprise him by joining him. To her surprise, Makei was not alone. There he stood, fucking another woman in her shower. When he saw her step inside the shower, the look on his face was not guilt, but regret. Demi told them both to get out without looking at Makei. He had the nerve to ask her for a ride to the airport.

Demi’s heart shattered. Makei wa
s not the only man she had let get close to her, and when she met him, her heart was guarded. She had been through entirely too much already and promised never to let anyone inside again. Makei was different. He was charming and considerate, and he too had experienced heartbreak several times. Demi hated herself for allowing someone else to hurt her. From that day, she promised never to allow anyone that close to her heart again. It would take several years before she was ready to give her heart to another man, and he too would betray her.

The plane arrived in San Francisco right on schedule. Demi stopped reminiscing, focusing on the reason for her sudden visit to the city by the bay. Makei Davis was going to suffer for deceiving her the way he had. She had not spoken to him since their breakup. He never called to apologize or explain why he would do something so cold, and Demi wanted answers. She needed answers in order to move toward. She would get those answers soon enough. She needed closure to go on with her life, and the kind of closure she wanted would stay closed forever.

Makei worked out each morning alone at his home gym. Demi knew the place like the back of her hand. His favorite piece of equipment was his weight bench. All she had to do was get in, rig the weights so that they would fall on him, crushing his chest, and get out. That would be the end of Makei Davis. An accidental death was a master plan.

First, though, she wanted to see him to find out why he had treated her the way he had. She talked with his assistant, who informed her that Makei would be at The Isis, an upscale restaurant in the business district of the city that many professionals frequented. Demi checked into a hotel, just in case her stay lasted longer than expected.

After showering, Demi changed into her purple suede jumpsuit, which hugged all of her curves. Going to yoga and Pilates classes paid off tremendously. Demi loved working out and she loved to look good. She didn’t understand why so many women didn’t care about the way they looked or simply let themselves go. And they wondered why their men looked at women like her whenever they entered a room. They had no one to blame but themselves, Demi thought. Looking at her shoes, she giggled like a little child playing with her favorite dolls. The Christian Louboutin Forever Tina platform, knee high and made of purple suede boots went along with her outfit perfectly.

It was now after five in the evening, and although a Tuesday, the city was buzzing. Demi hailed a cab and directed the driver to The Isis. Makei would surely be surprised to see her there. The line outside the establishment was ridiculous. No way was she standing in a line that wrapped all the way around the corner. Demi walked up to the front door, gave her name, and walked inside. Behind her she heard some hisses and sighs from those still waiting. “Don’t hate,” she said as she walked in her best hip action and fuck you attitude.

Heads turned as she walked up to the bar. The VIP section in the back of the restaurant was overflowing with athletes, lawyers, agents, and groupies. Demi scanned the room for Makei.

The décor and ambience of the restaurant was designed to make the customers feel sexy, desirable and bold. The dim lighting created a romantic depth to the crowded space, while hiding individual’s physical flaws. Some of the least attractive people became attractive after a few drinks in the softly lit building.

Hugs booths and round tabletops gave a dramatic touch. The beautiful stained-glass bar in the middle of the room added both volume and intensity, marrying every other aspect together. The Isis was one of the best restaurants Demi had visited, and with her having traveled all over the world, that said a lot.

After ordering her usual apple martini, shaken not stirred, she got the sense someone was watching her. The moment she looked up from her drink, she froze, locking eyes with Makei. He looked amazing, delicious and she wanted to fuck him senseless. Still one of the most handsome men she had ever laid eyes on. His big, alluring brown eyes pierced her soul. She remembered gazing into them many times, falling more and more in love with him. Sipping her drink, Demi could not look away from him. Energy pulsed between them, which anyone watching could see. Maybe they still had a chance, she thought as she walked toward him.

Makei said something to one of the men sitting at the table with him. The man immediately looked in Demi’s direction, and his smile led her to believe Makei had just said something good about her. As she continued toward Makei, weaving through the thick crowd, several people complimented her on her boots. Usually Demi said thank you or nodded at the person who complimented her, but she was preoccupied. All she wanted to do was fall into Makei’s arms and kiss him until the sun rose tomorrow. She needed to feel those lips on both sets of hers one more time. Never had she felt such soft lips as his.

When she finally reached the VIP section, Makei was gone. Where had he gone? Disappointed, Demi headed toward the ladies room in the back of the restaurant. Seeing the line, she decided to take her chances and wait. It would be hell getting out of the jumpsuit anyway. She headed back to the bar for another drink, and Makei caught her off guard. He stood right in front of her, smiling, looking good enough to eat.

“Hello there stranger,” he said.

Demi smiled, nodding hello. His dimples kissed his cheeks perfectly. The smoothness of his flawless skin captured her attention, drawing her further under his spell. Speechless, Demi gazed at his sexy, full lips. As if he knew what she was looking at, he slowly licked them. She gasped at the thought of having them all over her body. Her pussy jumped with anticipation.

“What, cat got your tongue?” he asked.

‘No, but it will have yours soon,

Demi thought naughtily. His smile was contagious as if he read her thoughts. Demi could not help smiling back at him.

They greeted each other with a warm hug that lasted a bit longer than friendly, and then Makei took her hand. He led her to a secluded area in the back of the restaurant. When they entered the room, Demi saw the man Makei had talked to earlier. Had they set this up? It was just like Makei to do something romantic for her. He had not changed a bit. Still, she watched both men suspiciously. Maybe he had been expecting someone else and Demi just so happened to come along at the right moment. Rage surged through her. Quickly shaking the feeling, she continued to follow Makei to a table, but eased her hand away from his.

He seated her and then sat across the table from her. A waiter filled their flukes with champagne. On the table sat some chocolate-covered strawberries. The chocolate was still warm when Makei picked one up, feeding it to her. It was delicious, and one of her favorite indulgences.

Before she lost all sense of what she was doing there, Demi cleared her throat. “So, Makei, how have you been? It’s certainly been a long time since we last saw each other. You do remember that last time?”

The look on his face spoke volumes. He was embarrassed by her comment. Shifting in his seat, he rubbed his face just like old times. He always did that whenever he had something important to say.

“First off, Demi, please don’t go there. I haven’t forgotten how things were left between us, and I’ve been dying to talk to you about that. It’s been killing me that things happened that way. But can we please just enjoy this moment and talk about that later? I’ve waited too long to have you back, and here you are.”

His choice of words intrigued her. What was happening? Did she sense remorse and heartache? This was a new Makei, completely unexpected. Not at all like the person she seen that day in her condo with another woman. The rest of the evening went smoothly. They had great conversation, the food was delicious, and Demi loved her company for once. It was just like old times. They would have been perfect together. Too bad it would all end tonight.

She had gone to his home earlier, picked the lock to the gym, and set her trap. Demi was glad he still didn’t have an alarm system in the gym otherwise she would have been in big trouble. Before she left, she’d snooped around, finding several pieces of female clothing in Makei’s closet. Under his bathroom counter were feminine products. Whoever had left those things, she was much more than a one-night stand, or an overnight guest. She meant something to him, and now here he was trying to seduce her. Demi shouldn’t have been upset, after all Makei was a very handsome, successful and sexy man.
