I stood and his
eyes were on my body, in a heated gaze. With my back to him, I
slipped into the robe, and he turned me, crossing the front of the
robe slowly like I was a prized gift that he was wrapping up, tying
the belt securely at the front, as if it were a ribbon on the top.
Then, picking up my hand, he led me to the window.

He stood behind
me, his arms around my waist, pulling me close to the warmth and
hardness of his body. Every part of me was aware of him, as we
gazed out and his mouth nuzzled at my neck.

Just
look at that.”

The sun was
burning off the dew in the garden and an unearthly mist filled the
air above it. Wisps of it coiled and trailed around the trees and
roses. A mad swirl of it lay above the lake in the distance.

I was
speechless, gazing in wonder at the spectacle of nature.

He took a deep,
warm breath of contentment, next to my ear, and my soul stirred
like it never had before. Being with this man was a sensual
experience like no other. I doubted there was anyone else like him
alive. He made every sense I had inside me, come bursting to the
surface, and into full bloom.

It's
beautiful, isn't it?”

Yes,” I
whispered, my chest heaving with my simple reply. It was so much
more than beautiful, there wasn't a word for it. Or for how I was
feeling about him.

I felt we were
moving somewhere special together.

He turned me in
his arms. I stared, hypnotized by this masculine creature from
another world. His lips brushed mine.

As his hands
cupped my face, I was speechless with want.

He moved back
and I opened my eyes, my whole body protesting, wanting so much
more.

The green eyes
before me sparkled with a passion that made me dizzy.

Manda,
you're far more beautiful, than all of that, out there.”

Did I just
hear that? That sublime utterance from his far too kissable
lips?

At that moment
I wanted to give him something just as special as the words he had
spoken.

I wrapped my
arms around his waist and buried my head in his chest.

Beauty
is only skin deep, it's what's inside that matters. And Sebastian,
I like everything about you.”

It wasn't a
great change, but I felt him stiffen in my arms. He gently pushed
me away from him.

A lot
can be hidden beneath the surface. And for good reason.” He looked
at me with what seemed to be desperation. It shocked me. And I
didn't understand.

Does he need
my help? Not that I'm best placed to help anyone, emotionally, but
I can try. I have, after all, a lot of experience in the field of
inner misery. Perhaps we can help each other, in time...

At that moment, I so wanted him to confide in me. So
that
I
could confide in him. The
concept that I could do this, that
I
actually wanted
to, amazed me... and the prospect of sharing my burden appealed to
me more than words could say.

I'd like
to know what's hidden beneath yours,” I said, in a soft tone of
voice. I was now dying to know what was inside him. What ate at
him. I'd sensed something, almost since we met. He was complex and
secretive, hiding something.

No, you
wouldn't.” He turned, distancing himself with a step to the side.
He looked out the window, his face newly set in a hard, unreadable
expression. “What's inside, stays inside. I like it that
way.”

But
why? Let me help you?” I ventured, my voice almost begging...a
whisper.

Help? No. No. No one can help.” He shook his head.
“Because there's no answer here on this earth. Please don't mention
it again
.

His expression hardened and his words sounded so harsh to my
ears.

I recoiled,
feeling embarrassed, and stung wildly with rejection.

I couldn't have
felt worse if he'd slapped me in the face.

He doesn't
want me to get close to him? Am I simply a pretty toy after all?
Omigod, I've read him all wrong...He's not really that interested
in me and he obviously doesn't want me to become interested in him
either.

I realized how
blinded I'd been, superficially, and just how little I knew of him.
Other than his love for roses and his talent on the piano, I didn't
know anything about his past, or his life here, so alone and
isolated from his family. He was full of secrets. Sebastian was one
big secret. Period. And furthermore, I now knew for sure, he was
hiding something of importance. Something deeply troubling to him..
I withdrew myself, creeping back into my shell and snatching my
heart back from him. Our meetings may have been nuclear hot, sweet
and touching, but now it seemed like it was all for show. At that
second, I was thanking my lucky stars I hadn't gone any
further.

Are you
hungry?” he asked, in a cool tone, his gaze locking onto mine. The
coolness of his voice was in complete contrast to his eyes. They
were ablaze. With what, I couldn't tell. A turmoil of some kind was
raging inside him. Festering like a sickness.

I could
do with something,” I admitted. Despite my wild confusion and
disappointment, I
was
hungry.

Get
dressed and I'll see you in the kitchen. Don't be long.”

With those few,
curt words, he was gone, in a draft of residual cologne.

I stood for a
moment and looked out of the window, but my eyes were misted by my
thoughts, unseeing.

Despite the
knock back and my uncertainty,Sebastian was still flooding my
mind.

Complex was
not the word. Neither could he be described as secretive.

As my mind
replayed what had just happened between us, his eyes told me the
real story.

Inner torment.
That's what
I
saw.

And I knew all
about that.

He had a
tortured soul.

Much like
mine

I suddenly
understood, why he wouldn't and couldn't open up.

Oh my God,
Sebastian, what the hell happened to you?

About the
Author

I'm a
loveaholic, but not only that, I like intrigue and drama. My
reading interests are spread across several genres. Romance,
Paranormal, Sci fi, Fantasy, Horror and Erotica.

I read
constantly, developing my craft and pushing myself to improve and
to be a better writer. I love to create real people. People you may
find in everyday life. But these people have secrets, hidden
depths, torture, and a wealth of other hidden characteristics to
their personality and in their lives. I love to create steamy
passion, a heated encounter that will make you wish it were you. :)
And I love to weave a spell, to captivate and entrance you with my
words. To take you to another place in your life, where you can
escape for a few hours with me.

I'm a mother
of four, and worked for many years in a bank, monitoring trading
room activities and risk control. You'll see a brief insight in my
world in my novel, Hot Options. There's reality in that book! It's
a New York trader erotic romance which I hope you'll love.

Many years
commuting by train to London gave me ample opportunity to read
many, many books and I appreciate a good story. I hope I can
continue to create them for you.
