Pulling off the lid, the steam floated up and filled the kitchen with the smell of downhome goodness.

“Perfect.”

Pulling out a spoon and ladling some onto a plate, there was anticipation and grumbling from deep within
the hunger filled belly.

“I outdid myself this time
, that’s for sure.”

Blowing on the meat, soon it was time to taste it.

“God, this is so damn good. This may be my best recipe yet.”

Before long, only one piece remained.
Popping it in eagerly, it didn't take long to find the bone.

“Shit, I almost choked.”

Pulling out the object, it was examined.

“Damn it. How did I miss that finger? I must be getting sloppy.”

The laughter filled the kitchen. There was no need for an answer.

The truth was evident.

It was missed in a moment when the killer was
