“Viktor.” A small chuckle leaves my mouth.
“Does he know of this?”
“No, but he will soon…” he pauses. “They will all be here tomorrow. I’ve had this planned for a while.”
I turn now to look at him, he’s already staring at me. “How long have you had the ring for?”
“A year.”
My mouth drops open.
No way.
No way in hell.
“You’re joking, right? How did you even know back then that I liked red? Let alone that you would marry me. You didn’t even know me.”
“I knew the moment I saw you I wanted to keep you. Now you’re mine. No leaving…” His body comes back on mine. This time he’s on top and his lips touch mine, and all thoughts leave me. Only allowing room for him.
Chapter 33
Kazier
She lays on her stomach, it seems to be something she’s always done. I remember falling asleep with her and she’d always be on her stomach, but she stays that way the whole night and doesn’t move once. I never knew that because she never wanted to stay with me.
We stayed up most of the night, hardly sleeping, and by the time we actually hit the bed the sun was rising. Now it’s late into the afternoon, we’ve slept the day away. She turns and rubs her eyes, then they search for me.
“Your brother is on his way.”
Her eyes go wide and she jumps from the bed. She starts ripping through her clothes and putting them on quickly. She doesn’t even realize when she pulls on her pants that she has thrown on one of my shirts. I start laughing. She looks to me with scrunched eyebrows then looks down at the shirt, rips it off and throws it at me. We hear a knock at the door and we both walk out. She stops before we open the door, and turns to me then places her hands on my body. At first I’m smiling until I realize she’s tapping me down for weapons. She pulls my gun from my waist and takes it into the kitchen then returns with a smile.
Maso stands at the door by himself. He looks back to me and scowls, then turns to his sister and smiles. She leans over and lightly hugs him before she invites him in. He’s hesitant at first then steps into the house. She does the same thing to him, tapping him down and pulls out his gun. He scowls at her now.
“She did it to me, too,” I say shrugging my shoulders.
His lips fight a twitch as he turns back to his sister when she walks back in. He notices her hand and he grabs it pulling it up to stare at the ring on her finger. He drops it and turns to me. “You can’t marry him, Elina,” Maso says.
“I’m not a part of that family anymore, Maso. My only connection now is you, so I can marry whoever I chose.”
He shakes his head. “He didn’t force this on you?”
She shakes her head and walks over to me and grabs my hand. “You should know he wouldn’t be able to do that.”
He nods his head and points to one of the stools, I nod my head saying it's okay for him to sit on it. “Pollie rang the home phone.” A gasp leaves her mouth. “I answered. Luckily. I told her the address. She told me she’ll catch a cab later to come see you.”
“He smashed my phone, I didn’t even think to tell her that,” Elina says.
I walk away and let them finish speaking. Freya delivered me a new phone yesterday as well as one for Elina. I start to pull them out and make a few drawers free when she walks back in. Her hands go around my waist and she leans in and breathes me in. I hold up the phone over my shoulder and pass it to her, she kisses my neck before she takes it.
“Everyone will be here soon. Where’s Maso?”
“He left, he only came to see if you were still alive.” I turn around and my hands grab her hair roughly, pulling the long strands to move her neck back to me. I kiss it, and she moans loudly.
“Tell me you love me,” I say nipping at her skin. “Tell me.”
“I love you,” she whispers.
I pick her up and throw her to the bed, she laughs.
“But I want to get ready. Your friends will be here soon and I want to do my hair.”
I look down at her and want to laugh. She doesn’t need to do it, her hair flows long around her face, it’s thick with curls and it’s perfect. She pushes up away from me and runs to the bathroom. I hear the door lock and her giggle.
****
Death, Anton, Viktor as well as Freya are all here. Elina hasn’t emerged from the bathroom since she went in there about thirty minutes ago. I’ve been tempted to knock it down, but I know I don’t have to, she isn’t leaving me this time. She’s here to stay. Just as I hear the bathroom door open, a knock sounds on the front door. I walk over to open it, gun in hand. When I open it Pollie stands there, a smile on her face.
“Hello,” she says quietly before I get a chance to respond. Death is by my side and grabs Pollie’s hand and pulls her inside the house. He basically pushes me out of the way as he does. We all watch in shock as he takes her to the couch and sits down with her on it, his hand stays in hers. I don’t know how she feels about it, but the smile is still on her face, so I don’t feel the need to interfere.
Elina emerges dressed in a short skirt, and it takes everything in me to not place my hands up her leg. She looks around smiling then spots her friend and walks straight over to her. I follow closely behind.
“Pollie,” Elina says looking to Death then to Pollie. “Are you okay?” I know she’s referring to Death having a tight hold on her.
“Umm… yes. I just, well… I couldn’t reach you. And Maso gave me your address.”
Death’s eyes haze over, I can see the anger over his face just at the mention of Maso from Pollie’s lips.
“Elina what’s on your finger?” We turn to see Freya staring down at Elina’s hand, everyone looks then she holds it up, looks to me then back to Freya.
“Kazier asked me to marry him,” Elina says looking at me.
Freya’s mouth is wide open. “You have to be fucking with me?” she swears shaking her head. “I still have the ring on you bought me, Kazier.”
This time it’s Elina’s turn to look confused.
“I’ve already told you what’s going to happen, Freya. You knew early on that I wasn’t going to marry you.”
“No, you want me to marry one of your friends,” she says too loudly. I look over to Viktor his eyes are wide, and Anton starts laughing. He knows it isn’t him.
“You don’t want to marry him?” I ask her.
She doesn't answer me as she crosses her arms over her chest and looks back to Viktor then starts walking to the door, she pulls it open harshly as she walks out.
“Congrats boss,” Anton says following Freya.
Viktor stands there staring off at nothing before Anton calls him. He shakes his head and follows them out the door, not looking at me once.
“Well, that went better than I expected,” Elina laughs. “I was expecting a punch at the very least.” She shrugs her shoulders and turns back to Pollie and grabs her hand and asks her to follow her. Pollie goes to stand, but Death grips her hand hard pulling her back to the couch. Elina looks over to Death who’s looking at Elina like he wants to kill her.
“Death…” I warn. It takes him a moment before he realizes what I’m saying and releases her hand. Pollie whispers something to Elina, and they walk to the front door. Death stands as soon as he hears it open and turns to watch them. Elina leans down and picks up her violin case then recloses the door. I watch as they walk out the back.
“What’s gotten into you?” I ask as soon as we’re alone.
He shakes his head and looks to the ground. “Fucked if I know,” is all he replies. Next, we hear a melody, it’s so calming, absolutely beautiful, that I first think it’s coming from the radio or television. But when I notice that it’s coming from outside, I know I have to follow the sound. Death does the same, his eyes are trained on the door, looking for where that melody is coming from. Pollie has her chin raised high, her eyes closed as she plays her music. Her hands move fast and her mouth is slightly open. Elina is resting her head on her hands as she sits there and smiles while watching her.
The next part plays in slow motion, no one realized what was coming. If we did, we would have stopped it the second we noticed.
Death walks over to Pollie, his hands clenched tightly. He stands behind her, closes his eyes, then one hand comes around so slowly. Pollie drops her violin, the sound of it hitting the floor echoes through the silence, then a knife is at her throat and a tear leaves her eye. And she sits there with her mouth wide open.
Elina starts to scream at him, but he doesn’t pay her any attention. I try yelling at him, but he doesn’t even acknowledge that I’m speaking. His hand moves slightly, a drop of blood trickles down Pollie’s chest.
Elina pushes past me as she runs inside, then before anything else happens, a gunshot rings out. Death drops the knife, his face smiling as he hits the floor.
“Pollie…” Elina screams running to her with a cloth for her neck.
It’s only bleeding slightly, just a few drops of blood. Her ears are covered with her hands, while she sits there and shakes.
I doubt she’ll want anything more to do with us ever again.
A small letter to my incredible readers.
WHAT?!?!
I know you’re thinking that.
But please keep in mind, this was Kazier and Elina’s story, and I loved writing it. I love their HFN, but their story will continue on within the other books.
Death’s story I could not fit within this book. He is, after all, his own brand of crazy. So he deserves a book dedicated solely to him. So if you would like to keep updated on releases, you can join my mailing list here:
