This
something
that happened was heated and strong and came at me wave after wave.

An orgasm.

That’s what it was.

An intense one.

My body didn’t know what to do. I had no control of myself.

“Drake, oh my gosh! Wait!” I cried out, trying to force his head away. He didn’t budge. He remained glued, tongue lapping, so softly it didn’t seem possible to still shudder beneath him. “Holy shit!” I cried.

He moaned in response, vibrating between my legs.

When my body finally settled, I was panting like I’d run a marathon. Drake lowered my hips and then perched on his knees. He grabbed the condom from the nightstand, lowered his trunks, and
boom
. Just like that he was free.

He was long.

And thick.

His size was daunting.

I can remember every detail of him.

A thick, round tip.

Smooth, tan flesh around one solid, slightly veined muscle, hung perfectly between his legs.

He ripped the foil with his teeth, tossing it aside and sliding the rubber down to his shaft. He then moved forward, and I flinched as he hovered above me.

“It was sexy, watching you unravel like that,” he whispered in my ear. I could feel him bumping at my entrance.

Goosebumps ran down my arms, a chilly feeling drifting up my spine.

I realized that maybe—just maybe—I had no idea what I was really in for with him. He’d held off on me for a reason.

“Drake,” I whispered just as he started to kiss me.

“Yeah?”

“I have something to tell you.”

“What is it?” He looked at me oddly, his head tilting.

“I’m um… well, I’ve never actually done
this
before.”

His face went board straight, his eyes thinning. “Never done this before?” he repeated. He blinked rapidly, pushing up on his hands to look at me wholly.

I wasn’t sure if he’d caught how much I was trembling, or maybe he saw how innocent I seemed during this moment.

“I know you haven’t,” he said.

Ten weights fell off my shoulders. “You do?”

He nodded.

I sat up, forcing him away. “Is that why you held off on me?”

“For the most part.”

“Why?” My voice was full of disbelief.

“Because you are a fucking virgin, Jenny. I’ve never fucked a virgin before. I didn’t know how to go about it, to be honest.”

“I don’t want you to think I’m not as good as all the other girls you’ve probably slept with.”

“Are you fucking kidding?” He shook his head. His jaw was fixed now, his throat working hard as he swallowed. “Jenny,” he said calmly as he leaned forward. “Think about what you’re saying. Do you really think those girls mattered to me? Huh? You think I actually cared about what I did to them?”

“I don’t know.” I stared down and, ashamed of my nakedness now, I folded my arms tightly over my chest.

“Jenny, I don’t give a shit about any of those girls. With them it was just quick fucks, but with you—well, shit, it’s fucking different. You bring a lot of shit out of me. I’ve spent all this time with you. Hell, I pretty much love—”

I whipped my head up, watching as Drake’s mouth clamped shut in an instant. He looked at me as if I’d done or said something wrong.

“What were you going to say?” I asked.

“Nothing,” he mumbled, and then he climbed off the bed. “It’s nothing.”

“No.” I hopped off the bed with him and clutched his wrist before he could grab his swimming trunks. His eyes met mine, and he wore a frown. “Drake, what were you going to say?”

“It’s nothing, Jenny. Just forget it.”

I looked him over, but what I realized most was the look in his eyes. I’d never seen them this way before. He was panicking.

“Were you going to say you….
love
me?”

His eyes flashed up to mine again, but this time they stuck like glue. He didn’t pull away or bother speaking. The answer was right in those bright green eyes of his.

All of his affections, all of his caring—all of his love.

Drake could love. I knew that from the start, but he had this guard up—one that could fool others, but it could never fool me.

“You love me?” I whispered. I was shocked. I never thought in a million years that—well… that Drake Davenport could ever love me.

He finally tore his gaze away. “Are we having sex or what?” he snapped.

I frowned. “Don’t do that.”

“Do what?” His tone was agitated.

“Don’t pretend you don’t care about me now. I’m not stupid, Drake. Just say it.”

“Say what!?”

“Just say what you were going to tell me! Tell me that you love me!”

“No.”

“Why not?”

“No, Jenny! Just fucking stop.” He snatched his wrist out of my hand, picking up his swimming trunks again.

“Why are you fighting your feelings for me? We’ve known each other for years! I’m not some girl you’ve just met, and you know it. You may think you can hide your feelings from me, but you can’t, all right?” I pointed at myself. “I know you and I also know all this time we’ve spent together wasn’t a waste.”

“Oh my God! Jenny, what the hell do you want from me?”

“To say what you feel! To admit it! It’s not hard, just say it!”

“I can’t do that!”

“Why the hell not?”

“For fuck’s sake, Jenny! Just stop. All right? You’ve made your point.”

“I’m not stopping anything until you say it. I have all night.”

“GODDAMNIT!” he shouted. “ALL RIGHT!” His voice was louder than I’d ever heard it before. He dropped his trunks and then charged for me.

He clasped my face in his hands, and his mouth crushed mine instantly.

He left no time for me to protest. He guided my body towards the bed again, climbing on top of me, bringing me right to the middle again. He started to work up a thrust between my thighs again, grinding slow, measuredly.

“Fine,” he growled, breaking the kiss. His lips were raw and wet. “Fine, Jenny. I fucking
love you
, all right? I love you, and I’m fucking scared for you to know it.”

I watched his face, how doubt filled his eyes. “You think I don’t feel the same?” I questioned.

“I don’t know,” he mumbled.

“But I do.” I bobbed my head, smiling. “I do, Drake. I love you, too. Okay? I love you. You shouldn’t be afraid to tell me.”

His mouth twitched. He wanted to smile when I said that, but he remained casual. His mouth latched onto mine, and I held him tight, moving my body closer to his.

He was at my entrance again, hard, ready.

“You’re sure?” he breathed again.

I nodded, and this time I really was positive about it.

“I’ll be gentle.” His breath ran past my ear. His eyes were still on mine, his tip slowly pushing in. I flinched and unintentionally pushed his shoulder, but he reached up and clasped my hand in his. “It’s okay.”

My throat was thick, but the gentleness of his voice gave me a sensation I couldn’t ignore. It made me feel safe and protected—like he would never let anything happen to me.

He continued sliding in gently, and each inch of him stretched me more and more. It stung a little, and I hissed quietly, but he’d kiss me when I’d react, so tenderly I never wanted him to stop.

The pain was bearable—the stretch hardly noticeable whenever his mouth met mine.

When he was completely inside me, he remained absolutely still. He groaned and breathed raggedly, his head dropping.

“Fuck,” he rumbled.

“What?”

“You’re so tight, baby.”

His hips moved unhurriedly, allowing me to work with him, loosen me up a bit. He was gentle like he said, his strokes light, not too deep yet. He was perched up on one elbow, our fingers still entwined above my head.

Soon, his light stroking wasn’t enough. He picked up his pace, and I moaned as his tongue slid between my lips. It was the perfect combination: his tender kisses with his full, deep strokes.

He was grunting, cursing as he hit certain depths, and I watched every face he could make.

His pleasure was evident, and I was happy to know that I could provide it. A girl like me, a virgin, pleasing the merciless Doomsday.

This moment was like none other. All that time I’d spent with him amounted to this single moment.

There was no more tension. There weren’t any more doubts or suspicions.

Here, in this bedroom of mine, something had budded, and it was big and bright and so beautiful.

It was mutual trust.

A unique connection.

It was
true love
.

I didn’t want it to end, but it had to eventually, and when it did, it was glorious.

Drake came, and all of his muscles locked as he squeezed my hand tighter in his. Veins bulged on his neck and arms, and his groan was so soft and sweet, something I didn’t think he would be capable of.

Soft and sweet just didn’t match him, but it was great to be a witness to it. His vulnerability. His affection as he held me close, shuddering above me. His soft, damp kisses on my lips as he stroked in once more.

It proved to me that he did love me.

That he meant what he said.

He wasn’t rough at all. He was amazing.

And this…this moment was everything I’d longed for and more.

It was perfection.

Chapter 19
Drake

I
wasn’t
sure how I felt about taking Jenny’s virginity…at first.

I’d never had sex with a virgin before, but knowing that I was first to take it gave me something I hadn’t felt in a long time.

Pride.

No other man could say he took something that sacred from the girl I fell in love with.

None of those fuck-boys could brag about how she sucked or fucked him, because she was only having sex with me.

We had sex often. Sometimes too much, to the point I was exhausted when I had to get to work or go to the gym.

Hey, it was life. It was natural, and her pussy felt too damn good and tight wrapped around me to pass up.

Things were going great with Jenny and me. We were on a steady boat, rocking gently, not daring to tip over.

She came by my job every other day to bring me a lunch she made from home. When I worked late and was bored out of my mind during my shift, I’d call her.

Our conversations were so cheesy. I’d tell her I missed her and she’d say something like “Not more than I miss you.”

Before I ever met her, shit like this was stupid and childish, but she made me feel things I’d never felt before. She pulled me into clearer water, allowing me to see life the way she did.

With open eyes—not so closed off about everything.

Things like going to carnivals and riding in bumper cars. Making out in the truck I practically worshipped. Swimming in a public pool. Coming to her home and arguing with her about the dumbest things right before making the sweetest fucking love to her for the very first time.

Shit. I’ll never forget that first argument we had in her bedroom.

Never.

We were the perfect match. I thought nothing would change—that we’d only get better… but it turns out I was wrong.

Bad things happened later.

Actually
a lot
of bad things happened, and they were all out of my control.

It was around 2:40 a.m. We were lying on her bed, quiet. It was peaceful listening to her breathe; listening to her sigh as she caressed my cheek.

“I have to go, Jenny,” I whispered as I stroked her hair.

Her window was cracked open. I’d snuck in like I always did when I got off of work late.

Her parents didn’t come into her room late at night. Come to think of it, I had yet to run into them, even during the day.

I’d park my car a block away from her neighborhood, on an empty lot the twins and I used to jog around.

“Already?” she whined.

“I should go check on my grandma.”

She sat up on one elbow. “I understand.” Her chin dropped down on the back of the hand she had flat on my chest. “When am I going to meet her?”

“I don’t know. I guess we could set that up soon. She’s been dying to meet you; I’ve just been so fucking busy. When I’m free, it’s always too late or too early.”

“I know. It’s okay.” She rubbed my chest. “I’ll miss you when you leave.”

I smiled down at her. “Are we going to go through this war again?” Lifting up, I kissed her on the forehead, my fingers threading through her hair.

She sat up all the way, crossing her legs. I stood up and adjusted myself, grabbing my black hoodie and tugging it on. “Will I see you tomorrow?” she asked.

“Have to work at 7 but I get off at 5. Hitting the gym afterwards, but then I’ll be free… until 12.”

“Oh. Right. A fight.” She looked at me, pressing her lips. She was disappointed—not because she was against it, but because she didn’t like to know I was fighting at all.

“Don’t do that to me.” I stepped in front of her as she stood and folded her arms. “It’s only for the money, Jenny.”

“I know. I just hate how you show up with all those bruises and scars, Drake.”

“You think I like messing up this face?” She couldn’t help but giggle as I held her chin. I watched her carefully before placing a full kiss on her mouth. “All that matters is that I win. And that I get to come back to you each and every time.”

“I guess so.”

“You love me?”

She nodded, bringing her arms around my neck. “A lot.”

I let out a deep sigh, holding onto her. I didn’t want to pull away, but I needed to go and she needed some sleep. I knew she’d sacrifice her sleep if it meant I could stay.

She pulled away after a few seconds, patting my chest lightly. “All right, Doomsday. Go on. Don’t keep grandma waiting.” She smiled as she started for the window.

I stepped past her, pulling it open. “This climbing and shit is starting to get old,” I muttered.

She studied me with sympathy swirling in her eyes. She then looked over at the door and stepped aside. “They’re probably asleep by now. I can sneak you out if you want me to.”

“No fucking way,” I scoffed.

“Drake, come on. They are never up this late. They won’t even hear us. It will be quick. I know you’re tired of jumping into that bush.”

I blinked rapidly, peering over the railing, at that damn prickly rose bush that got me in the ass every single time. I was tired of pulling out thorns, but I did it each night because it was worth seeing her for.

“We just have to be really quiet,” she said lightly. “My brother’s room has a trellis wall by his window but his room is too close to theirs so I can let you out from the kitchen door. It’s where the alarm is.”

I sighed. “Okay. Fine.” I shut the window and locked it, following her to the door. She glanced back, nodding to let me know everything would be fine.

I don’t know why I had a bad feeling about this. We were safer by using the window, but if she was sure, I was going to trust her. After all, she knew her home and her parents more than I ever could.

Her door opened and I was so damn glad it didn’t creak. We tiptoed down the hallway, and she looked back to where her parent’s bedroom was. Their lights were shut off. The house was quiet.

We met at the staircase, and I wanted to crush every single step.

Over twenty steps we had to go down.

Fuck.

Jenny trotted down softly. I could hardly hear her bare footsteps on the marble, but I could definitely hear my heavy, squeaky boots.

Jenny was at the bottom of the staircase and I met right up with her. The kitchen was just around the corner, and it was completely dark, minus the slivers of moonlight coming through the blinds.

Jenny rushed for the alarm system, typing in a pin number. Once it turned green, she swung the door open. It was a straight shot. I just had to pass the pool to get to the gate.

But, as the door was pulled open, that’s when I saw the woman.

It was too late to turn back now. Too late to even say anything.

We stepped out, and the woman looked right at us. She wore a blue silk robe and her hair seemed freshly curled. She was barefoot and had a cigarette in hand.

“Jennifer?” the woman called out loudly and Jenny gasped as she snapped her gaze up.

“Mom—what are you doing out here? Are you
smoking
?”

“What am I doing out here?” She bent down and smashed the butt of the cigarette into the cement. “What are
you
doing out here? And who is that!?”

Damn.

This was it.

I was stuck.

I couldn’t run back.

I couldn’t get out.

This was my only way out now.

“Aren’t you supposed to be asleep?” Jenny demanded.

Her mom folded her arms, completely disregarding her daughter. She focused solely on me.

“Come on out,” she ordered. “Let me see you.”

Jenny kept a hand on my chest. “No. He was just leaving.”

“You lied to me.” Her mom turned up her nose.

“What? How?” Jenny snapped.

“I asked you if you had a boyfriend and you told me no.”

Jenny narrowed her eyes. “You didn’t deserve to know.”

“Well, does he not have any manners? Is he not going to formally introduce himself?”

“Jenny,” I sighed. This was enough. She could no longer hide me. I was damn near twice her size. I stepped past her and held out a hand towards her mom. Her mom looked down at my hand as if I had something contagious. “I’m Drake Davenport.”

Her eyes grew wide. “Davenport? Wait—do you mean to tell me you are Flex Davenport’s son?”

“Yes,” I said tightly.

“Well, what a shocker,” she laughed. “Flex and I went to school together. He was such a sad guy, but his wife turned out to be stunning. I think her name was Sam… Samantha or something maybe.” She pondered on it and my jaw ticked. “Not sure what happened to her. She used to work at the local grocery store but I haven’t seen her there in ages.”

“That’s because she’s dead… ma’am.”

Her mom looked at me, shocked. “Oh. Wow. How terrible. I am so sorry for your loss.”

I didn’t respond. She was pissing me off with her nonchalant attitude. Now I could see why Jenny didn’t like her mother. This woman was a straight bitch, and she knew it too. It was almost like she couldn’t stop her bitchiness even if she were to put forth the effort.

“I should go,” I murmured looking between her and Jenny.

“Actually, you should wait a minute.” I started to walk off, but her mom caught me by the hook of my arm. I glared down at the grip she had on me. “The police will want to know why you have broken into our home. After all, it is nearly three in the morning and you have no business being here. You’re a complete stranger. I don’t know you at all.”

“Mom!” Jenny shouted.

I glanced back at Jenny. I wasn’t worried. I’d be gone before they even got here.

“He didn’t break in,” Jenny snarled as she marched ahead. “I let him in. He’s my
boyfriend
.”

“So you admit it.” She was amused. She made a
tsk
nose as she looked between us. “Your father wouldn’t approve.”

“Don’t you mean
you
don’t approve?”

Her mom’s eye twitched.

“Come on, Drake.” Jenny grabbed my hand and led the way towards the gates. I was so relieved to be so close to freedom. Her mother was a royal bitch.

Jenny opened the gate quickly and then said, “Hurry. Go, before she actually does call the cops.”

With a deep frown, I turned and looked her mother dead in the eye. She grimaced, her eyes sweeping my frame. I kissed Jenny, purposely, and her mother looked away, grumbling beneath her breath.

“Go,” Jenny insisted, pushing me back.

I was gone before she could say it again.

Their quarreling started as soon as I was out of eyesight, but I wasn’t out of earshot. It sounded like Jenny was winning the argument, but I knew it was only for now.

I heard her mom shout something that really got under my skin. I normally didn’t let anyone’s opinions get to me, but this was different. It was different because she knew my father. She knew of my mother.

“He is a disgrace!” she shouted. “He might hurt you! Look how big and dangerous he looks! He’s a monster! Stay away from him, Jennifer! Do better for yourself!”

After jogging out of the neighborhood and to my truck, I swung the door open and jumped in, started the ignition immediately, and hauled ass.

I didn’t know what her mother was capable of. I didn’t even know if she’d file a report on me just for the hell if it, or if she’d actually have someone follow me home just to keep tabs on me.

What if she saw my truck? Wrote my plate numbers? What if she got Jenny to turn on me?

“Shit,” I hissed as I hit the freeway, raking a rough hand through my hair.

I needed to get home. Now.

* * *

I
arrived home around 3
:15 a.m.

The house was quieter than usual. So much seemed off, but I took it as nothing—thinking shit was just getting to me because Jenny’s mom caught us. I couldn’t imagine the hell she was probably going through. Paranoia was settling into my veins. I needed to get this shit off my chest.

I needed someone to vent to.

I knew Jenny would call me as soon as things simmered down.

I figured Grandma Marie was asleep, so I showered and got dressed in more comfortable clothes. After I was done, I walked down the hallway to check on her, yawning along the way.

The door was already cracked open, her bathroom light on.

That was weird. She never left her lights on. She always complained about the light bill, and always shouted at me about it whenever I happened to leave a light on when I was rushing out of the house.

“Grandma?” I called in a whisper.

Other than the bathroom light being on it was completely dark in her bedroom. It also felt colder. Her humidifier wasn’t vibrating in the corner like usual.

“Grandma,” I called a little louder this time, pushing the door open completely.

Something wasn’t right.

I flipped the light switch on the wall. The bedroom was empty, the bed made as if she hadn’t touched it since this morning.

Worry fully consumed me and I stormed towards her bathroom. I tried opening it all the way, but something was blocking the way. It was heavy.

“Grandma! You in there?”

No response, but I could feel her presence. She was here somewhere. She never left home unless Aunt Jane or me took her to the hospital or to the grocery store.
