Angel got to the edge and sat
with his feet just dangling over the edge. Medwin, Shylyn and Maive were there
before Gavrie leaving him a spot beside Angel. Their dragons come behind him
and waited for Gavrie to sit before they all put their heads down just behind
their friends.

The Fight Is Only Just Beginning

As the others came and sat down he
waited till Gavrie had settled himself down beside him. Angel sat there for a
moment before he spoke. ‘You might be wandering what I am talking about. What I
never told you Medwin, Shylyn and Maive was what I saw in the spell.’

Medwin looked at him and there
was a puzzled look on his face as he spoke. ‘But you told us you saw something
hidden behind the old spell?’

‘That is not the spell I am
talking about, it was the one the Renegade was using to destroy the old spell.
What I saw in there, I told you I saw evil but that not all as the other
Renegades came at that point.’ He stopped and looked at them to see if they
were listening. Finding them all looking at him he cleared his throat and
carried on. ‘I told you I saw evil in the spell and that is what knocked me
back. It was the shock of seeing the evil that was altering the spell so it
could attack the old spell.’ Stopping again as what he was about to tell them
was something he had been thinking about and how to tell them.

Gavrie looked at them and couldn’t
think what they where talking about. ‘What spell are you talking about Angel
and what did you see in it?’

‘The spell was what the Renegades
were using to destroy the old spell holding Nirvana to the mountain. It was a
very old spell like the one holding the school to the mountain. The Renegade
was altering it so it would attack the old spell which it did slowly, till he
was able to work on it better.’ Talking a breath he moved his hand behind him
to feel Aura just at his back. He could feel her trembling as he did so.

‘It’s alright Angel I’m here and
with you. I know you saw something in the spell but I was unable to see it as I
was outside your mind at the time. Tell us what you saw for if it has sacred
you so much then we all need to know?’ Aura moved her head closer to him as she
spoke just to reassure him.

‘I told you there was evil there
in the spell, but this was so intense the shock of seeing it, that’s what,
threw me out of the spell. This was just pure evil and it was changing
something wonderful into something so horrible. I just could not believe it was
possible; I have never come across evil like that. Now this is the bit that you
will not like Headmaster for this will change things now and forever.’ He
stopped and looked at Gavrie as he said this last statement.

‘What is so life changing from
what you have just achieved?’ Looking at Angel waiting to hear what he had to
say.

‘The magic changing the spell was
evil, it has an evil pattern to it and a wizard could not cast a spell like
that. It is beyond our wizards magic and totally different, you would have
trouble even trying it. Renegades are just our wizards who went bad, now what
does that tell you?’ He looked at them moving from one to the other to see if
they had got it yet.

They all sat thinking there for a
short time and looked back at Angel with no comprehension on their faces. They
had not picked up on what he was saying so he was going to have to spell it out
to them. Aura looked at him and he could see the glint in her eye as she had come
to the same conclusion he had.

‘Aura has worked it out but
looking at you lot I need to spell it out. There is another race behind the
Renegades using them for their own needs and that is our destruction. He was so
different to them in his magic when he was attacking us. The spells might do
the same things but it was the way he cast and built those spells.’ Looking at
Gavrie as he told them he waited to see the reaction from him.

Gavrie sat and thought about what
Angel had said and was still having trouble coming to that same conclusion. ‘He
could be a very powerful Renegade who was their leader by being the most
powerful. I just don’t know, if his magic is that different why they don’t just
outright attack us. Why hide and direct others to do their dirty work?’

‘Let’s put it this way, would you
when you are fighting another group that has more wizards than you, throw away
twenty wizards, without a second thought. Then almost do the same again very
soon after. They were food for the creatures as he knew their dragons would not
fly away when they could not hold the portal open any longer. He knew he was
sending them to their death just so he could set his spell up.’ He looked at
his friends and could see they believed him and what he was saying.

Gavrie looked at Angel and over
and over in his mind he was thinking on what he had said. He was right about
throwing away twenty wizards and their dragons just so he could work his spell.
To get rid of the wizards which would not have worked as they would just get away
in their bubbles before the Nirvana fell? He wanted to get rid of the school
and all the decks; this would disrupt the teaching of the students and
inconvenience the teachers.

Angel has got a point with that
and he would know what the magic was like when he looked at the spell he was
casting. But who would the other race be and where do they come from, I will
need to look at the library and see if there is anything in the special books
that are hidden around it.

‘If what you say is true then we
need to alert the other wizards and the Dragon Riders. They will need to know
what they are fighting against and they need to know they have two groups to
fight one who is hiding from everybody.’ Looking at Angel and seeing the cold
determination on his face in what he believes.

‘Ok you are now thinking there is
a third race who wants us gone and is fighting and hiding behind another group
who wants the same thing. Now go one step more and you think if they have some
in the Renegades why not the wizards.’ Now looking at Gavrie he could see
Gavrie’s’ face suddenly go white as he thought on what he just said.

Angel’s friends and dragons
looked at him and they went white with the dragons going a light pink in the
eyes. They would now not know who they could trust and there was no way of
knowing who was good and who was bad. Gavrie’s look turned to one of misery and
what could he do now.

‘What do we do now with the
Renegades being infiltrated and there being the possibility there might be some
in the wizards, they might even have some normal spies in the Dragon Riders.
What do we do now?’ He looked at Angel and knew this is what he had been
waiting to see.

‘We can’t tell anybody what you
saw here today and we must work to find away of finding any that have
infiltrated the wizards and see if there are any spies in the Dragon Riders.
The only ones I would trust in the Dragon Riders is my mum and brothers but I
don’t know about the wizards.’ He was now starting to think he might get
somewhere with them knowing about the third group.

Gavrie sat there thinking about
all the wizards he knows and his friends any of which could be from this evil
race. ‘I just can’t think of who might be one let alone trying to find others.’

‘Headmaster what about kids
growing up with you they would be ok it’s the ones who come from out of the way
and who you never seen grow up. There you will find some who are to be
trusted.’ Angel had heard the despair in Gavrie’s voice as he had spoken.

Thinking of all the kids he grew
up with who are around and in the school now, or close by. There were a few he
could say were ok, this was not going to be easy so he would have to think
about it before he told anybody. But Angel was right with his mother and
brothers, they would be safe and I think they need to be here with them now.

They will get quite a surprise
when they see what Angle and his friends have got. Also it would be good for
Medwin, Shylyn and Maive to have some one around who can fly dragons and show
them how to care for them. I will send for Tish and her sons and I will do it
now.

There is a way Gavrie can call a
Dragon Rider and that is with a spell, it will call them to him where ever he
was. He could call any Dragon Rider just so longs he has met them before. He
will call Tish now and wait for her to come, so I will just cast the spell, and
now we will wait.

‘Angel I have made a decision and
that is to call your mother here now to talk this over. We need to tell
somebody else and she is the best one to tell now, she can then get your
brothers to come and stay here and show you how to look after your dragons and
it would be good to have some adults around looking after you. Now we just need
to find a reason why you are not at school for you need to be with your
dragons?’ He got up and moved back into the middle of the deck to await Tish.

Angel looked at his friends and
could see joy on their faces as they felt relief there would be and adult
around with them all the time. He was feeling that way a little as when they
were fighting the Renegade he felt frightened. It would be good having his
brothers here all the time and his mother coming a lot more.

She was going to get a surprise
when she sees their dragons. ‘I think we might need to get our dragons to move into
the cave so they don’t get disturbed with strange dragons being here.’

Gavrie and his friends agreed as
well as their dragons for they did not want to surprise Tish and her dragon.
The dragons moved back into their cave and waited for Tish to arrive. It wasn’t
long when they could see a dragon coming from out at sea and heading their way.

Tish came in to land in the
middle of the deck looking around as she landed. Angel could see that NightWing
felt the presence of dragons here and this agitated him. Angel ran over to his
mother and gave her a hug. His friends and Gavrie just waited a few minutes
till he had greeted her.

Gavrie walked over to Tish but
pulled back as NightWing become agitated and backed up a little. ‘I’ll stand
back here and I think Angel you had better come here as well, then you have
something to tell your mother?’

Tish looked at Gavrie and then to
Angel, there was a puzzled look on her face as she tried to work out why they
were here on this deck which has been out of bounds for centuries. She looked
at Angel and waited for him to tell her.

‘Mum I have someone you need to
meet and my friends have the need to do the same. Turn around and look at the
cave?’ Angel moved so he faced the cave waiting for his mother to join him.

Tish looked at him and them the
cave waiting for what she could not think. She was about to turn to Gavrie when
she spied a movement in the dark of the cave. Then to her surprise a young
Black dragon walked out, and then three more white ones.

‘Mum the black is my dragon and
her name is NightAura.’ He just beamed at his mother as he spoke.

‘My white is called WhiteMoon.’
Medwin looked at his dragon with pride as she came out.

‘My dragons name is WhiteFire’
Maive moved to be with him as he came over to her.

‘WhiteStar is my dragons’ name.’
Shylyn moved to stand beside Tish and took her hand as she took her to meet
him.

Tish could not believe her eyes
as the dragons came out of the cave and when Angel introduced NightAura to her.
Then the others doing the same, they were wizards and dragons don’t like
wizards but here they were four dragons belonging to his son and friends.

‘How is this possible dragons
don’t like wizards because of their magic?’ She was giving Shylyns dragon a rub
under the ear.

Then there was a bellow as Tish’s
dragon NightWing was getting very upset. Tish ran over to quieting him down. It
was taking a bit to do and Angel spoke to Aura. ‘Aura can you talk to NightWing
and see what is wrong with him.

‘I will try but his mind is in
shock at the moment with seeing us standing next to wizards. I think I can get
through to him let me try, do you want to come with me and see if you can talk
to him?’ Aura was very agitated with NightWing upset, because of them.

‘I would like that now let’s see
if I can talk to him like the Renegades dragon.’ His mind hoping he could calm
NightWing down because they would have to calm him if he was to come here more
regular.

Aura moved over close to
NightWing with Angel following behind her. NightWing backed up a little with
Aura coming close to him. Angel stepped out in front of Aura and NightWing got
a little agitated. He knew Angel yet he smelt of magic and he hated magic but
Angel had been around him all Angels’ life.

Angel could sense the turmoil
inside of him and took his moment to get Aura to try and talk with him. Aura
called to him but he would not answer so she kept trying and he kept ignoring
her. This was starting to upset Aura and Angel could sense this and knew he
would have to be firm with NightWing.

‘NightWing stop this now as you
are upsetting Aura and I don’t like it. You have known me all my life and have
played with me yet you will hold back from me just because I have magic. Please
talk with us as we need you to help us, our dragons need you to show them
things that I can’t so please talk with us. You don’t have to talk with me but
please talk with the other dragons?’ Angel looked at NightWing with a pleading
face, hoping he will come around and talk with them.

Then a voice comes into their
minds, a strong male voice that was cold but there was something else there as
well. ‘I will talk with you, how is this possible as we can talk with ourselves
but not with humans and yet you talk to each other?’

Angel answered him before Aura
could. ‘I think it is the link we formed when we first meet each other. We were
drawn together and it is a good thing now will you help us. You do not need to
be around us if it pains you, we will keep our distance.’
