David walked through.
“I will be with you in two seconds.”  He walked through to the boot room and opened the little door to the cage he had built.  He put the bowls in to the cage and put the blanket in the cage.  Penny and Charles walked in with Victoria and Nicola.
“Please let me see what it is.”  David took her out from inside his golf shirt.
“Awwww!”  David smiled.
“Her name is Melody.”
“Oh she is so beautiful.”  David smiled as he put her in to the blanket.  Amanda walked through.
“Oh I like the branches.  David that is lovely.”  David chuckled as he closed the cage.
“Now she is home.  I took her bandage off and her finger is fine.”  Amanda smiled and nodded.  She walked over and hugged David.
“I do like her new home.”  David looked at the cage with the little branch.
“She will love her home.  If we find her in the morning.”
“Oh we will.  She will be waiting for you.”

Amanda smiled.
“Right folks.  We are eating in the kitchen.  And lunch is on the table.”  They all walked through.  David poured a glass of wine for everyone.  He added lemonade to the girls half glasses of wine.  Nicola chuckled.
“Oh we will definitely be napping.  Uncle David are you hoping that we pass out?’  David chuckled.
“Is there a possibility?”  Nicola chuckled.

They all dished up and Amanda looked at David.  He looked at Penny and Charles.
“If you don’t mind.  We say grace.”  They both nodded and closed their eyes.  David said grace and smiled as he opened his eyes.  Everyone started eating.  Penny smiled.
“Thank you for the invitation.”  David and Amanda nodded.
“We need you to know where we live.”  Charles nodded.
“I will take you out for a ride on the four wheelers after lunch Charles.  Show you around.”  Charles nodded and smiled.
“Did you ask Uncle Jimmy to park the four wheelers in the shed?”  Victoria and Nicola nodded.

Penny smiled.
“Do they ride four wheelers?”
“They do.  And horses.  It depends on what they are doing.  If the terrain is too rough then we stick to the horses.”  Penny and Charles nodded.  Everyone tucked in to their meal.  Victoria got up as the timer went off.  She took the cherry loaf from the oven.  Nicola took their puddings from the fridge.  Penny smiled as she took her pudding.

They finished their meal and Amanda smiled.
“And what are you doing this afternoon?”  Nicola and Victoria smiled.
“Straight after.  We are going back to the stables.  Have a quick ride.  Uncle Jimmy is busy mending a fence.  The bull kind of attacked a pole.”  Amanda chuckled and nodded.
“You be careful of that bull.  He thinks he owns the show.”  They both nodded.  David smiled.
“I am going to take Charles for a short little ride out.”  Amanda nodded and smiled.
“And I am going to pick Penny’s brain on a quilt I would like to make.”  Penny smiled and nodded.

The
dishes were soon stacked.
“Can I help with the dishes?”
“Gosh no.  Our housekeeper comes in later.”  Everyone soon left.  Amanda made Penny a cup of coffee.  She sat down with Penny in the kitchen.

“You and I are going to thrash things out
Penny.  Because I haven’t done anything to deserve the scathing comments.”  Amanda looked at her.
“And David has not had it easy through the years.”  Penny nodded.
“We are going to be open and honest here Penny.  By the end of today we will either be best of friends.  Or the worst enemies.  I am hoping to be friends though.”  Penny nodded.

“Here is what I think Penny.”  Penny looked at her.
“Please.  I have a very direct manner.  I tend to say what I think.  I don’t mean to be nasty or rude.”  Penny nodded.
“I think you are jealous of David.  Either that or you fancy my future husband.”
“I.”
“Which I don’t think.  I am sure you are in love with your husband.  But he couldn’t cut it running his own business.  So because David is quite a success you are actually taking it out on David.”  Penny was quiet.
“And I think.  Not realizing it.  You are rather jealous that David has Victoria.  The past really doesn’t matter.  Does it?”  Penny shook her head and almost croaked.
“No.”
“And because you and Charles don’t have a child of your own you are really seething.  And you think of it all the time.  Every single time you see a pregnant woman you feel this little burn in your stomach and it builds up and you want to be physically sick.”  Penny stared at her.

Amanda nodded.
“And because David has met me you are a little aggro.  Because why should he be happy.  Why should he have everything.”  Penny silently nodded.
“Penny.  You need to stand back and look at things.  David doesn’t sleep around.  The only woman he has slept with was that Yolanda woman.  Who I detest.  But we are not going there.”  Penny smiled.
“Okay and me.  But don’t you dare say a word!”  Penny roared with laughter.
“He needs a little happiness in his life.  If I can give him that then I have reached my goal.  I need a happy daughter.  And I need a happy husband.”  Penny nodded.

She held the serviette in her hand and looked down.
“We just can’t fall pregnant.  I am dying for a baby.  I want one so bad.  Charles is at a point where he has given up.  We don’t even make love anymore.”
“So from now on you need to forget about babies.  Don’t even think about them.  All those nappies.  Bathing and changing them.  If you think of babies think of how fat you will get.”  Penny stared at Amanda.
“Meaning do not think about babies.  Stop wishing your life away.  Start seducing your husband.  And when you are making love focus on the next orgasm.  You will soon have a baby in your arms.”  Penny smiled.

“I am sorry about what I said.  David doesn’t sleep around.”
“Know what?”  Penny shook her head.
“I know that.  We are so close that he knows where I am.  I know where he is.  Ranch life is totally different.  We really stick together.”
“For safety?”
“That and because we love each other.”  Penny nodded.
“I don’t have any sexy pajamas like the ones you bought.”
“And you have seduction in mind?”  Penny chuckled and nodded.
“Well luckily enough I have a set which still has the price tags.  You can have the black set.”  Penny chuckled.
“Come.”  They both ran up the stairs.  Amanda took out the little two piece.
“Hide it far away.  When you are ready, appear.”  Penny roared with laughter.

They ran down the stairs and Penny pushed the set deep down in the bottom of her bag.  They went through to the kitchen.  Penny filled the sink up and started washing the dishes.  Amanda stood and dried and put things away.

“How did you know?”
“Because things didn’t tie up.  The things you said.”  Penny nodded and smiled.
“I am sorry.”
“Oh we forget about it.  I am glad we sorted things out.”
“I need to apologize to David.”
“Apology accepted.”  Penny smiled and nodded.
“Charles is not doing that well at work.  We are surviving.  But I want to do more than survive.”
“Well start making things.  You sew.  Make a few duvet covers.  They are quite the fashion.  Other than quilts.  Make a few and see how they sell.”
“I would have to buy some more material.  Right now.”
“Right now.  Once we are finished.  We can go to my sewing room.  I am going to donate a few things to you.  I tend to hoard.”  Penny smiled.
“But where would I sell them?”
“You give them to me and I will get them sold.  But give me a good price.”  Penny nodded and smiled.

They wiped the counters and walked through to one of the rooms.  Amanda opened the cupboard a
nd Penny stared.  Amanda looked at the piles of fabric.
“So.  Did you get all the browns and the oranges?”
“I did.  Same as Olive.”
“So if you started another what colors would you need?”
“I am spoilt for choice.”  Amanda chuckled.
“What about blues?”
“That would work.”  They took out all the blue fabric they could find.  They opened each piece up and checked the sizes.  They piled the fabrics up.  Penny ended up with blue fabrics and a range of greens and purples.  Amanda put them all in to a huge bag.  They dragged the bag through to the lounge with a lot of giggles.

The family all walked through.
“Yowzer!  Is it garbage day?”  Nicola chuckled.
“Fabric for Aunty Penny.”
“Yowzer!”  Penny smiled.  David and Charles walked through chuckling.
“Amazing how you all know when it is cherry loaf time.”  David chuckled as he walked over and kissed Amanda.  They all walked through to the kitchen and sat down and had a cup of coffee and their slices of cherry loaf.

“Penny we have to come next weekend.  I would like to take you on one of those four wheelers.”  Penny smiled.
“As long as you can take me.”  Victoria chuckled.
“Aunty Penny the one day all four of us were on one four wheeler.”
“Really?”  Nicola nodded.
“Uncle David rode.  We all stood.  All along the main road from the ranch next door.  They sort of picked us up in the van and we had to get back so we took the four wheeler.”  Penny chuckled.
“Yes I think we can come next weekend.”

Amanda smiled.
“Come on Saturday.  Lunch time.  By then I have wrapped up with my chores.  David should be free too.”
“Should.  I got a call from Wilson down the road.  Wants me to fix the microwave.”  Amanda chuckled and nodded.
“Is it fixable?”
“I hope so.”  Amanda chuckled and nodded.
“Bring your patchwork stuff.  You can sit and sew.  The machine is out the whole time.”
“I saw that.”

The family soon stood outside after loading the enormous bag of fabric.
“See you Saturday!”  They both nodded and smiled as they drove out.
“Oooh you have her eating out of your hand.  What did you do?  Bash her over the head with the rolling pin?”  Amanda poked Nicola in the ribs.
“Owwwww!”  David roared with laughter.
“Oh that did not hurt.”
“Says he who has not been abused, attacked, mistreated or physically poked.”  Amanda giggled.
“Are you sure I didn’t have to enroll you for the comedy class?”  Victoria chuckled.  Nicola grinned.

“Hey lunch was so cool.”
“Yes and I feel an urgent Sunday afternoon nap creeping up.”  Nicola grabbed her forehead.
“Oh so do I!”  They all chuckled as they walked inside.

Charles looked at Penny.  She smiled.
“Did Amanda have something to say?”
“Gosh no.  We had a lovely afternoon.  Looked at the kittens that are so cute.  The little creature was fast asleep so I couldn’t get to hold it.  Then we went to see the animals in the surgery.  And then Amanda gave me fabrics so that I can make a few duvet covers.  Not quilts.  I am going to do something different.”  Charles nodded.
“Penny he doesn’t sleep around.”
“I know Charles.”  He nodded.
“He is besotted with her.  He loves her to bits.  I think maybe it is time that he had a little happiness.”  Penny nodded.
“I was very nasty.”
“We both were.”  Penny nodded.
“And forget about babies Charles.  That is not the focus anymore.  From now on we focus on you and me.  Being happy again.”  Charles smiled and nodded.
“We haven’t done it for a long time.”  Penny sighed and looked out the window.
“I know.”  Charles smiled and nodded.

Nicola looked at Amanda as they all took a cup of coffee.
“Were you nice to Aunty Penny?”
“I was very nice.”
“But did you chat?”
“We chatted.”  David smiled as he listened.  They all walked up the stairs.

CHAPTER 1
9

David smiled as he lay on the bed with Amanda.
“We chatted.  I was right.  She is so jealous that you have Victoria.  All she can think about is having a baby.  But they don’t do it anymore.  So she is going to remedy that.  They are barely surviving.  So there is a lot of pressure.  I gave her that bag of fabric.  I tend to hoard.  But it will come in handy.  She is going to make a few duvet covers and I will put them in the shop.  They will sell.”  David smiled and nodded.
“Charles mentioned that they were having a few problems in the bedroom.”
“Well they won’t have problems anymore.”  David chuckled.
“You didn’t give any secrets away.”
“No.  But I bought two pairs of sexy pajamas.  I kept the emerald green one and gave her the black one.  We shall see.”  David roared with laughter.
“Don’t tell!”  He grinned.
“But it is not as nice as that special one.”  Amanda smiled and chuckled.  David held her in his arms and kissed her.
“Thank you for letting Melody stay.”
“I would be very jealous if she was a lot bigger.”  David chuckled.
“I open that cage and she almost dives in to my shirt.  Those little hands.  She clings on to whatever she can find.”  Amanda roared with laughter.
“Yes exactly!”
“I am glad she does not suckle.”  Amanda giggled.  They both chuckled but soon went to sleep.

It was late.  Victoria shook her head
as she sat on the bed.
“I can see her Dad.”
“Well I fed her and she came out for her little cuddle.”  Nicola shook her head.
“When are we going to see her?”
“Tonight.  We can put all the lights off and if it is dark enough we can take a look at her.”  Amanda smiled.
“I am sure it is time for bath and bed.”  Everyone got up.  David made sure everything was switched off.  Amanda hopped in the bath.  David lay on the bed with all the lights off.  Melody lay on his stomach as he rubbed up and down her stomach.  Victoria knocked.
“Dad can I come in?”
“Sure.  Bring Nicola but be quick and close the door.”

Victoria and
Nicola walked in and looked at David in the dark.
“Oh not fair.  You have Melody.”  They both walked to the bed and sat down.
“Oh she is so cute.”  Amanda walked out of the bathroom and put the light off.
“Mister MacGuire.  Are you spoiling her?”  David chuckled and sat up.
“She is only visiting.  Going to her bedroom in a minute.”  Victoria took her in to her hands.
“Oh she is so light.”  She handed her to Nicola.
“Oh isn’t she gorgeous.”  David smiled as Melody hopped on to him.  He held a little berry and she took it.  The girls sighed as they watched.
“Right Melody.  Time for bed.”  Melody hopped straight in to David’s golf shirt.  He chuckled as he got up.
“New bedroom.”  He walked out and they all chuckled.  He soon came back and walked in to the bedroom.
“Right ladies.  Did you want me?”
“Now I came to say goodnight.”  David smiled and hugged them both at the same time.  He kissed them both on the cheek.
“Owwwww!”  David roared with laughter.
“We are not matchsticks you know!”  Amanda grinned.
“Goodnight you two.”  They both chuckled as they got up and walked out.  David smiled as he walked through and had his shower.  He checked on the girls and put their lights out.  He walked to the bedroom and closed the door.

Amanda smiled.
“What a lovely day.”  David smiled as he hopped in to bed.
“Yes it was.”  He held Amanda in his arms.  They wriggled down in to the bed.  David started to kiss Amanda.  He peeled her pajama pants off and slipped her top off.  He groaned as he felt her little suit.  He ran his hand all over her body.  He rolled over her and smiled and kissed her.  She smiled as she took his T-shirt off and pulled his shorts off.  He kissed all the way down her body and peeled her suit off.  Amanda let out a little groan.  She slowly rolled David over.  She started to kiss all the way down his body.  She took his rock hard shaft in to her hand and took him in to her mouth.  David let out a loud groan as Amanda started making love to him with her hands and her mouth.  She felt every move that his body made.  He was almost gasping for air when he pulled her up.

Amanda smiled as she eased herself over his erection.  She moved ever so slow so that they could both feel the pleasure.  She moved a little faster and David held her hips.  She knew he was going to ejaculat
e.  She moved faster and faster and suddenly slowed down.  David looked at her.  She smiled as she slowly moved up and down.  He smiled and held her hips and let out a slow groan as he ejaculated.  Amanda kept moving.  She felt the orgasm coursing through her body.  She almost collapsed on top of David.  She started to giggle.
“You never said it would be such hard work.”  David roared with laughter.
“You are glowing.”  They both roared with laughter.
“I am not laughing.  But I can’t even feel my legs.”  David held her to his body.
“Amanda I am speechless.”
“David I am speechless.  Words fail me.”  David held her in his arms on top of his body.
“Must be my suit.”
“I think it is the body in the suit.”  Amanda looked up and kissed David.
“I love you.”
“I love you.  Right now.  I want a date.”
“But we went on a date.”  David chuckled.
“A date to marry you.”  Amanda smiled a wide smile.
“I leave that in your hands.  I can work my way around it.”  David smiled and nodded.
“It is going to be very soon.  The sooner the better.”  Amanda chuckled and nodded.
“Hate that long winded surname of mine.”
“So you prefer MacGuire.”
“I do.  It has such a nice ring to it.”
“Good.  I will love calling you Mrs. MacGuire.”  Amanda chuckled and nodded.

Amanda woke up and felt for David.
“David where are you?”  She smiled as she hopped out of bed and took her coffee.  She walked over to the window and looked out.  David looked up.
“They dragged me in here!”  Amanda chuckled.
“Morning everyone!”  The girls both grinned as they looked up.  They all hopped out of the pool.  David dried himself off and walked inside.  He checked on Melody who was fast asleep.  He checked on Patsy and her kittens.  He ran up the stairs.
“Now that was a really good workout.  I did ten laps.”  Amanda chuckled as she stood and got dressed.
“Mrs. Dudley is whipping up a storm.”  Amanda grinned and shook her head.  David smiled as he got dressed.  They ran down the stairs and walked in to the kitchen.

“And did you enjoy yesterday?”
“We did.”
“Your family glad they know where you live?”  David nodded.
“I think we ironed out quite a bit.”
“Good to get rid of the starch every now and then.”  David nodded and smiled as he sat down.  Nicola shook her head.
“Do you know?  You and Mrs. Dudley sure do talk funny.  What has starch got to do with the family?”  Mrs. Dudley chuckled.
“Well you have to think.  And it makes you think.  What do you use starch for?”
“To stiffen things.”
“Right.  And why do you need stiff relatives?”
“Oh I get it.  So you get rid of all the starch and the thing gets all nice and soft.”
“Exactly like that.  Family should be at ease with each other.  Comfortable to say their bit.  In a nice way.  But you don’t need them all stiff and snooty.”  Victoria nodded.

Amanda sat down and smiled.
“Today I am dipping on the Emerson spread.”  They all nodded.  David smiled.
“Today I am digging foundations on the Emerson spread.”  The girls gurgled with laughter as Amanda and David looked at each other.
“Today I am baking biscuits for the shop.”  Victoria and Nicola looked at each other.
“Now that is so strange.  We are working at the Emerson spread today.  But.  Big but here.  We are being paid.  An hourly rate.  Because good old Jeeves is down and out with Gonorrhea.”  Amanda groaned.
“Diarrhea.  Please.  Remember diarr.  I do not think he would like people thinking he has Gonorrhea.”  Mrs. Dudley hid her grin.  David looked away and hid his smile.  Nicola nodded.
“What has he got Nicola?”
“Dying from the rear.”  David roared with laughter.
“So we are going to stand in for him.”  Amanda smiled and nodded.
“So put your nice smellies on because by the end of the day you are not going to be smelling so good.”  Victoria looked at Amanda.
“You will smell like dip.”
“Oh.”  Nicola grinned.
“It is going to be so good.”  Amanda nodded and smiled.  David looked at the little smile on her face.  He knew the smile.  The girls were going to be working very hard.  They just didn’t realize it yet.

Everyone got up.
“Would you ladies like a lift?”
“Never thought about that.  Not to worry.  Actually.  Are you going to be there all day?”  David nodded.
“Well that would be a good idea.  You can drop us all off.”  David chuckled and nodded.
“You might have to sit at the back on the way home.”  Amanda chuckled.  They all got up and hopped in the van.  Mrs. Dudley ran out with lunch boxes for everyone.  David took his flask and smiled.  He drove over to the Emerson spread and dropped everyone off.  He drove to his area where he would be working.  He smiled as he looked up.  His little family was in sight.  He could hear and see everything that was going on.  David started with the foundations.  He started measuring out and put all his little markers in place.  It would be a tedious job.  But it was different for a change.  He would be doing a little physical labor.

Amanda had everyone doing their bit.  The animals had to be driven from the pen through the alley that had been set up.  They went in to the trough and had to be pulled straight out and helped if they could not do it by themselves.  Everyone rotated positions every now and then so that they didn’t get too tired.  Victoria stood at
the gate and let the sheep through.  She looked up at Amanda as she pulled the sheep through.  It was tough going.

Everyone stopped for lunch.  David smiled as he walked over and took a seat next to Amanda.
“And how is it going?”  She nodded and sank her teeth in to the sandwich.
“I am starved.  All I could think about is what is for lunch.” David roared with laughter.
“And how is your side going?”
“Doing well.  It is good to do a little physical stuff for a change.”  Amanda chuckled and looked at Victoria and Nicola who both lay on their backs eating their sandwiches.
“I think they might be out for the count by six.”  David grinned.
“I am going to knock off at four.  Your side looks much more interesting.”

Mister Emerson walked over.
“I am impressed with the foundations.”  David chuckled.
“Beautiful aren’t they?”  Mister Emerson rumbled as he laughed.
“I am going to work till four and come and lend a hand here.”  Mister Emerson chuckled and nodded.
“Yes it looks rather interesting from the office window.  I see you are working them to the hilt Doc.”  Amanda chuckled.
“Hard going but we will finish by six.”  Mister Emerson chuckled as David offered him a sandwich.  He smiled as he took one.
“Something about a gathering like this.  It might be hard work.  But it seems to lift the spirits.  The chatting that goes on.  Then when they return to the bunkhouse it really is a chit chat.”  David nodded.
“Oh we have the chit chat at the supper table.”
“Sometimes I am glad for it.  Your eyes also want to spontaneously close?”  David roared with laughter and nodded.
“Oh many a time.  Jo-Beth just can’t understand that.  Reckons I get far too much sleep.”  Amanda grinned and nodded.
“The young keep us young.”
“They sure do.”

Everyone got up.  It was back to work.  David chuckled as he walked over.  He looked at the foundations.  If the girls were free he would get them working the following day.  At their rates.  He chuckled to himself.  When everyone got together it was like one big family.  Everyone knew each other.  He looked up as Jeeves came and sat down.
“And how are you feeling?”
“Kind of light.”  David chuckled.
“Have you taken something?”  Jeeves shook his head.
“Just had far too much fatty food last night.  Kind of sailed through the system.”  Mister Emerson walked over.
“How are you feeling Jeeves?”
“I will be back tomorrow.  Had to come out and see what all the noise is.”
“Oh did you hear that?”  They all roared with laughter.
“Your Victoria kind of got dipped.”  David grinned.
“Head too?”
“She was saved.  Gary grabbed her by the hair.”  David chuckled.
“And I was kind enough to say I would give them a lift home.”  Mister Emerson grinned.
“That dip sure does honk.”  David chuckled.
“I guess we might be eating outside tonight.”  Jeeves grinned.
“So have you set a date yet?”
“Hell.  I have to do that today.”

Mister Emerson smiled and nodded.
“Would you like me to get Jo-Beth to book the church?”
“Hell would you mind?”
“Not at all.”  Mister Emerson walked off smiling.

Jeeves sat and chatted.  Mister Emerson walked back
half an hour later.
“Two weeks.  The church is booked.  Suit you?”  David grinned and nodded.  He handed David a piece of paper with the number and name of the pastor, the time and all the details.  David smiled as he took it and put it in his back pocket.  Jeeves chuckled.
“We never thought the Doc would ever get married.  And then she imported you.”  David roared with laughter.
“And changed the import in to a local.  I have come to realize that I am not a city dweller.”  Jeeves chuckled and nodded and got up.  Mister Emerson smiled and nodded.
“Some folk don’t like it out here.  But those that do absolutely thrive.”  They all nodded.  David looked at his watch.
“Off the job.  I am going to go and join them.  See you tomorrow.”  Mister Emerson looked at his watch.
“And out here time flies.”  David chuckled and nodded.
“Oh let me square up.”  Mister Emerson handed David an envelope of cash.
“You sure you want to do this daily?”  Mister Emerson nodded.
“Prefer it that way.  Don’t want to face a huge figure on a Friday.  Bad for indigestion.”  David chuckled as he put the envelope away.  He walked towards the dipping station.
