His white shirt hung open and her breasts were pressed against
his bare skin, the thick dark hair on his chest rubbing excitingly
against her nipples. The flame that had sprung to life in her belly at
the first touch of his lips on hers blazed hotter and more powerful
with every passing second, until Savanna thought it would consume her.
Frightened at what she was feeling, stunned at the carnal emotions that
seemed to have erupted without warning, she fought against what her
body wanted and what her brain told her she should do. She hated him,
didn't she? She didn't
want
to feel this way
about him, didn't want to respond to him, but her body… ah, but that
treacherous body of hers desperately wanted his touch, her betraying
mouth wantonly sought the plunder of his and she swayed in his arms, a
furious battle raging within her.

Frantically struggling against the chains of passion that kept
her prisoner in his embrace, she freed her mouth from his and said
thickly, "Stop! I don't want this! I don't want
you!"

His blue eyes nearly black with desire, Adam stared down at
her flushed face, his gaze lingering on her rosy mouth, the lips
swollen from the force of his kisses.

Nervously she pushed herself slightly away from him and glared
up at
him, waiting
tensely for his next
move. His expression didn't change, nor did his hands leave her
buttocks,
but
his gaze dropped to her
breasts and, to her complete humiliation, she could feel her nipples
tighten and swell under his gaze.

A crooked smile curved his lips. "Liar," he said softly. "This
is something we've both wanted since the first moment we laid eyes on
each other."

"No! No, it's not!" Savanna replied desperately, denying the
truth of his words, trying feverishly to ignore the appeal of that
shockingly pleasurable mouth of his, trying to pretend that the warmth
of his hands on her naked flesh didn't fill her with delight, or that
his touch didn't arouse a hungry yearning within her. She did
not
want to want him! Nothing had changed between them—he was still the
coldhearted bastard who had killed her father, he was still the man who
had kidnapped her and nothing could ever change those facts. Except…
except somewhere in the region of her heart there was a dull ache, an
ache that had increased with every passing hour she spent in his
company; and then there was her treacherous,
treacherous
body, which ached, too, but with a different ache from the one in her
heart… a purely physical ache that she knew could be easily satisfied
if she gave in to temptation, but that ache was one that she dared not
appease…

Adam stared at her for a long moment, those dark blue eyes
roaming over her lovely face, lingering on the soft temptation of her
mouth before dropping once again to the lush fullness of her breasts,
the coral nipples erect and hard, and involuntarily his hands tightened
on the firm flesh of her buttocks, pulling her closely against the
rigid strength of his manhood. She shivered with reaction and he felt
it and tantalizingly brushed his mouth against hers .and said again,
"Liar. You want me—even if you won't admit it, and I'm afraid that
between us the time for talking is past…" He kissed her insistently,
his
teeth
nibbling against her lower lip
until her mouth
parted
to let his tongue
explore at will. He kissed her
tot
a
long time, his hands sliding caressingly up and down her back,
sometimes cupping her buttocks to keep her pressed near him, and it was
only when she gave a defeated little moan and put her arms around his
neck that he lifted his ravaging mouth from hers. His breathing was
labored and, one hand tracing the swollen fullness of her lips, he
muttered, "Tell yourself you don't want me, if it pleases you, but
never delude yourself that your body doesn't want mine!"

Sweeping her effortlessly into his arms, he carried her to a
thick patch of soft green grass dappled with shade. Lying her down
gently on the grass, before Savanna's stunned gaze, he swiftly
discarded his boots and his breeches.

Savanna had seen naked men before, but none so hypnotically
attractive as the tall man who stood unashamedly in front of her now,
the sunlight glinting through the leaves of the trees to caress his
bronzed skin. From the crown of his dark head to the soles of his feet,
he was undoubtedly the embodiment of every sensuous dream that any
woman had ever conjured. The broad shoulders and wide, powerful chest
gracefully tapered down to a flat belly, narrow waist and slim hips.
His legs were long, elegantly shaped and tautly muscled, and as she
stared at him, unable to tear her eyes away from the sheer masculine
beauty of him, despite everything that was wrong between them, Savanna
felt her breath quicken and her heart begin to pound faster.

Nature had not stinted when it had created Adam St. Clair. His
tall body was hard and lithe; his chiseled features were handsome and
stamped with an arrogant attractiveness that would stay with him until
the day he died. Against her will, Savanna felt herself overpoweringly
drawn to his potent masculinity, and when her unknowingly caressing
gaze stopped at the apex of his powerful thighs, she was shaken by the
sight of just how generous nature had been to him… and by the
bittersweet knowledge that she had brought him to this state.

As Adam came down beside her, Savanna made one last, frantic
attempt to escape from him, but it was useless. His arms closed tightly
around her and his mouth unerringly found hers. She was shocked at the
heat that emanated from his body as he pressed himself against her soft
length, shocked at how eagerly her own body responded to that heat and
how nearly impossible it was to remember that she hated him.

His lips brooked no barriers and all too soon his tongue was
filling her, pleasuring her immensely as it searched and slid
rhythmically within her mouth. It was such a simple act, his tongue
within her mouth, and yet it seemed that she could feel its thrusting
motions throughout her body. His hand touched her breast, the long
fingers circling her erect nipples, and she shuddered with the
elemental demands that suddenly flooded through her, twisting wildly in
his arms, not to escape but to press closer, her lips opening wider to
allow him to delve deeper, more insistently. Without thinking, she put
her arms around his neck and arched in his embrace, beset by the myriad
emotions that his explicit kisses and warm touch had so violently
aroused within her.

Her body was afire and yet she was shivering, not from cold
but from the urgent sensations that were coursing through her; she
pressed even closer to his naked body, the feel of his swollen manhood
pushing vigorously between her thighs, filling her with both fear and
wild anticipation. When his warm lips left her plundered mouth and slid
down to suckle hungrily at her breast, her entire body jumped with
shocked, guilty pleasure and deep within her loins there was a sudden
clenching, a throbbing ache that had her twisting helplessly in his
arms. Oh, God! She
did
want him!

Adam had never had any doubt about wanting Savanna, but even
he wasn't prepared for the magnitude of pleasure it gave him to kiss
her, to explore the sweetness of her mouth and to taste the honied
softness of her flesh. She enthralled him, made him half wild with the
longing to plunge himself deep within her and ruthlessly possess her
and make love to her so fiercely that the memory of any other man's
touch would be banished forever from her mind. These were not emotions
he had ever felt for any other woman and they only seemed to increase
the intensity of what he was feeling as he held her in his arms and
compulsively began to discover all the secrets of her lovely body.

He could not seem to get enough of her, his hands and lips
roaming restlessly over her face and breasts, nipping and kissing,
fondling and caressing, his hips moving rhythmically against hers in
frankly carnal demand. Entrapped as helplessly as Savanna by the
frantic urgings of his own flesh, Adam buried his face between her
breasts, savoring her clean scent, and let his hands drift sensuously
down her body, caressing the indentation of her slim waist, the lush
curve of her hip, the flatness of her belly… His head lifted and his
lips crushed hers in an uninhibited appeal, his tongue filling her
mouth as his hand slowly slid into the tight red-gold curls between her
thighs.

Savanna arched up against him in violent reaction to his bold
movement, and despite the frantic leap of her pulse and the melting
sensation at his touch, for just a moment cold reality washed over her.
She shoved hard against his broad shoulders and, tearing her lips from
his, pleaded huskily, "Adam! Please! I don't want… Please, stop!
Please…"

The sapphire-blue eyes glittered down into hers, a lock of
black hair lay fallen across his dark forehead and Savanna's heart
twisted in her breast as she stared up at him. His features were
flushed with passion and there was a distinctly sensuous curve to his
mouth that made her belly clench with desire. As they stared intently
at each other, Savanna's breathing almost stopped as the sapphire-blue
eyes darkened with some nameless emotion, and then his head dropped and
he pressed a butterfly-soft kiss to the corner of her mouth and
murmured, "Oh, I definitely intend to please, sweetheart."

Savanna didn't doubt it—she feared that he would please her
far too much, but before she could offer further resistance, his mouth
covered hers, his lips hungry and urgent against hers, his tongue
brazenly forcing itself between her teeth, deeply penetrating the new
territory it had won. His kiss was drugging, and helplessly her hands
caressed his dark head, her yearning body wantonly heedless of anything
but the mesmerizingly erotic spell he was weaving around her. She ached
in places she had never known
could
ache, and
when his knowing hand began to gently explore the soft flesh between
her thighs, she shuddered with the force of the pleasure he evoked.
Savanna writhed wildly under the carnal onslaught that Adam lavished
upon her, her mouth was full of him, her swollen breasts were crushed
against his hard chest and her untried body was already accepting the
seeking thrust of his fingers as he brought her to the very edge of
ecstasy.

Moaning with delight, she slid her arms around him, her hands
gliding restlessly over his broad back, her fingers digging into the
warm skin as the tight, nearly unbearable ache in her loins seemed to
spread throughout her entire body. His lips left hers, blazing a trail
of fire to her breasts, where his tongue curled possessively around her
hard nipples, his teeth gently grazing the tender tips until Savanna
thought she would go mad from the sensations he aroused within her. He
gave her no succor from his plunder-ing lips and hands and she became
frantic for relief from the hungry, mindless need that increased with
every second. Powerless against the ever-increasing demands of her
body, she thrashed uncontrollably beneath him, desperate to reach some
dim, only-guessed-at pinnacle. Totally obsessed by the elemental,
unceasing emotions that beset her, Savanna was hardly aware when Adam
shifted, nudging her thighs apart to make room for his big body between
her legs.

As obsessed as Savanna, Adam was certain that he would indeed
die if he didn't soon sink into the slick warmth he knew awaited him.
There had never been a woman like Savanna—she was fire and silk in his
arms; the taste of her, the feel of her soft flesh against his and her
wild undulations so befuddling his brain that nothing existed in this
world but the wanton creature twisting in his arms. The savage demands
of his own body had him groaning half in pain, half in pleasure when he
slipped between her legs, and he was fearful that simply the excitement
of entering her would unman him. Deliberately he fought to slow the
pace, to gain control of his emotions, but it was a useless battle,
Savanna's abandoned movements shattering his resolve. Erotically she
pushed up against his swollen manhood, the soft brush of those red-gold
curls between her thighs making him curse softly at his helplessness.
Contenting himself with one last, hungry tug of her nipple, he
unerringly found her mouth and kissed her with all the pent-up hunger
within him, his hand slipping beneath her hips to lift her to receive
him. Trembling from the power of his need, he slid slowly into her
silken sheath, only half aware of the incredible tightness, too lost in
his own pleasure at first to realize that something was different. It
was only when he broached that final frail barrier and her muscles
clenched in instinctive rejection that the truth exploded in his brain,
but by then it was far too late, far,
far
too
late…

Savanna was adrift with intense, unrelenting sensations; the
singularly seductive awareness of him sinking into her flesh and the
amazement as her body had stretched to accept the fullness of him
filled her with a desperate pleasure. The pain, when it came, was
totally unexpected and helplessly she arched up against him, suddenly
frantic to escape from him and what he was doing to her. But there was
no escape. Adam's hard body was pressing hers into the soft grass, his
chest was crushed against her breasts and his flesh was irrevocably
joined with hers. They lay there locked together for a dazed moment and
then, muttering something savage against her mouth, Adam moved,
thrusting deeply, urgently into her again and again. In stunned
disbelief, Savanna was swept along with him, every frenzied stroke of
his body lessening her pain until there was only the wonder of his
unbridled possession. Deep within her the coils of pleasure tightened
with every powerful thrust he made, and then, without warning, just as
Adam groaned aloud at his own explosive release, an intensely
pleasurable sensation rippled through Savanna, leaving her feeling
inexplicably languid and faintly astonished. So
this
was what drove men and women to behave so incomprehensibly at times,
she thought stupidly, her heartbeat slowing, her body suddenly at peace.
