He wanted her, but he knew it couldn't be and he'd be simply kidding himself if he through otherwise. His plan was to develop her pictures. He'd have them ready for her tonight, pass them over at no charge, thank her for a magical evening and then they would go about their separate ways.

He'd tried to maintain relationships with human women before, but it never worked regardless of how much he wanted them to. There were two options for vampires when they began emotionally involved with humans. The first was that he stayed with them until they passed away of old age, leaving him alone to mourn the loss. The other option was to turn them into a vampire.

Contrary to what the movies would like to let you believe it didn't always turn out well. Especially for vampires like him, a vampire of the Kings Clan. Most of the vampires turned from the Queens bloodline seemed to take to being vampires. They could assimilate into the human world easily.

The Kings bloodline was different. Most of those turned from a vampire in the Kings bloodline turned to be vicious, bloodthirsty, reckless savages. Most would have to be put down within the first few weeks of being reborn otherwise they would risk exposing what they were and worse yet the existence of vampires.

He had tried it once, he had found a woman he felt he could spend an eternity with only to have to stake her himself. Her bloodlust was too strong. She couldn't assimilate so he was forced to kill her, again he mourned the loss but even deeper this time because he ended a humans perfectly good life in order to turn her into a monster, just to kill her before her time.

It was tragic, so never again and never with Sabrina.

Examining her neck in the mirror, she was baffled on how the marks had disappeared so quickly. She could have sworn they were there this morning when she was driving home and noticed them in the rear view mirror. Two red marks that almost reminded her of teeth marks. Now that she was home from work, she couldn't see a thing. So strange.

Victor had left her a message on her machine that afternoon telling her that her photos were ready already. She was a bit shocked at his promptness. She was also a bit nervous, well a lot nervous actually about seeing him again. She'd been daydreaming about him all day, and about their amazing night together. By the time she finished working her body was on fire and her panties soaked with need for him again.

She stepped back from the full-length mirror and examined herself, evaluating her attire from all angles. She didn't want to look like she was trying too hard, but at the same time she wanted to look good. She knew nothing was going to develop between them but still, she just felt the need to impress him. Perhaps even to impress herself.

She wore a simple green dress that fell just above the knee, and complimented her eyes beautifully. The neckline fell just low enough that with the little extra help from her push up bra she had some decent cleavage going on. She looked and felt great about her appearance. She wasn't sure where this new confidence came from but she suspected it had something to do with what happened between them last night. It was nice to know that a man who could easily have any woman in the city would refer to her as breathtaking.

She had an appointment to review the photos with him in a half an hour, so she needed to hurry. Rushing down the stairs, she grabbed her purse, which was lying on the kitchen counter and sprinted out of the door.

The drive across town was only a fifteen-minute drive but it seemed more like hours.

She was anxious to see the pictures, and more importantly anxious to see him again. "No expectations," she told herself out loud.

She pulled up to the curb in front of the studio and shut the car engine off. She took a moment to catch her breath. She still had ten minutes until her appointment time so there was no rush.

With one last deep breath, she exited the car and headed toward the front door. As she reached for the door handle of the studio, the door swung open and a young attractive blonde woman in a police officer costume stepped out. She breezed past Sabrina barely acknowledging her existence other than to cast her a snotty look as she went by.

"Pfft. Bitch," Sabrina muttered under her breath as she walked through the door.

Sabrina stopped dead in her tracks, her breath catching in her throat when she saw Victor standing behind the black marble counter. She wouldn't have thought it possible but she was pretty certain he looked even sexier today then he did last night. He wore a white t-shirt that fit tightly around him, displaying his amazing chest and stomach. His dark hair was tied back allowing a full view of his strong jaw line. He wore a look of amusement on his face as if he'd just heard something incredibly funny.

He couldn't have heard me, could he?
She dismissed the thought as being impossible and proceeded into the studio.

It took Victor a moment to really take in how amazing Sabrina looked, he had been too busy snickering over her distaste for his previous client. He had to admit Sabrina was right in her judgement of the woman, Clarissa was indeed a bitch. Clarissa was hot, he'd give her that, but her snotty attitude was more than he could stomach, just photographing her put him in a bad mood. She was nothing like the beauty that stood there looking at him now. Sabrina had beauty inside and out, that's one of the things that made her so precious. Why he needed to stay away, far away.

Be pleasant, make small talk, and then say goodnight,
he coached himself.

Quickly regaining her composure, Sabrina pasted on her best smile and walked over to the front counter.
Be calm and stay cool.
"How did they turn out?"

"They were stunning, you really took some amazing pictures Sabrina," he walked around the counter and extended his hand to her. "Come to my office and we can go through them. Ensure they're to your liking."

She took his hand and allowed herself to be lead to the room behind the counter that he apparently used as his office. His touch was cold again tonight, odd but it still sent an all too familiar shiver through her.

His office was moderately sized and simply decorated, to the right was a large oak desk with a black leather chair and a small bar fridge. Straight ahead and towards the back was a black leather sofa. There were numerous photographs lining the walls, all attractive women in various erotic scenes. There was one in particular that caught her eye, one that was framed and hanging over his desk. It was of her?

She let go of his hand to get a closer look at the photo. It was indeed of her. Her head thrown back, her breasts threatening to escape the confines of the lace bra she was wearing.

Wow,
was all that she could think when she saw it.

The women in the other photos were drop dead gorgeous; she was flattered that her picture made the wall. She imagined he would have photographed thousands of women and she was one of the few he valued enough to put on display. A soft smile played on her lips and her confidence was jolted up another notch.

"I was going to ask you if it was fine if I displayed the picture," he went to his desk and picked up the envelope with what she assumed was her photos inside. Taking her hand, he led her away from the desk and to the sofa and sat down.

"Oh course. I'm flattered," she replied, sitting next to him and crossed her legs

"Now at first you were somewhat, for lack of a better word, uptight." She tried not to cringe at being told she'd been uptight. He opened the envelope and pulled the photos out as he continued, "you will notice however that as the photos progressed through the session you begin to loosen up and that's when they go from beautiful woman being sexy to nothing sort of a sex siren." He turned and gave her that sexy smile of his, which made it near impossible to keep from throwing herself into his arms.

Sabrina tried to concentrate on his words and in particular his proclaiming she'd turned into a sex siren before his eyes. It was nearly laughable.
Me? A sex siren? Not likely.
She gave it another moment of thought
, well... maybe.

But then again, she couldn't help but be flattered. To her dismay she felt her cheeks begin to redden.

If Victor noticed her embarrassment he didn't let on. He continued to go through the pictures with her. She really loved them all. She had never before considered herself as being sexy, but the pictures showed a side of her that she'd never seen before. She laughed inwardly; perhaps he was right. Perhaps she did have a little bit of a sex siren in her.

Once they finished viewing the pictures and she confirmed that indeed she was happy with the results he took her hands into his. "I feel I need to say something about last night..." he began.

She stopped him in mid-sentence. "Victor, I think I know what you're going to say and I understand," she paused chewing on her bottom lip considering the best words to use.

"It was one of the best night's I've ever experienced, but I have no expectations for anything other than that night."

Victor took a moment to read her mind before responding. What he found confirmed what she said. She really was a remarkable woman. If he was honest to himself, he was secretly wishing she would have fought to be with him, but it was for the best for all concerned that it ended now and better yet by her decision.

Still, he felt a dull ache in his cold heart at the thought of not seeing her again.

He reached out and touched the soft skin of her cheek one last time. If only he were human again, her old fiancé was without a doubt a complete fool to have let her slip away. He knew if things were different then there was no way he ever would.

He was grateful for one thing however. The woman who appeared today to pick up her pictures had found her self-confidence again. That confidence shined through making her nearly impossible to stay away from him. The sad, lonely woman who called him last week no longer existed. He had a feeling she wouldn't be single for long and with any luck the next man, next
human man
would be the one who would help make all her dreams a reality.

Chapter 6

Sabrina felt good as she left the studio and began driving towards home. Victor had given her the photos at no charge in return for letting him display one in his office. She figured she got herself a good deal in that exchange. They promised to keep in touch, but she somehow doubted they would. It was what it was, and that was okay. She was feeling better about herself at that moment then she had ever felt in her life.

As she came up to a set of lights, she slowed for the red light and took notice of herself in the rear view mirror. It almost seemed a shame to be all dressed up and be heading home so early. At the last moment, she signalled to turn left and headed toward uptown.

Might as well grab a drink before heading home.

She decided on a club called,
The Crush
. She had never been there before and normally would never dare enter a club by herself, but tonight she was making an exception. The club was packed, but not so much that there was a line-up to get in. She headed to the bar where a handsome young bartender took her order for a martini and began preparing it.

She couldn't help but notice that his eyes travelled to her cleavage more than once. She also noticed a number of the men she passed by watched her as she travelled throughout the crowd. She paid the bartender for her drink and had just taken a single sip when she felt a tap on her shoulder.

She swivelled around on her barstool to see Oliver standing before her and he was seriously drunk. He had never been able to hold his liquor, she imagined he'd be in the bathroom or outside as sick as a dog within the hour.

"Ssssssabrina," he slurred. He slowly looked her up and down the continued, "
Shit
you look goooooood tonight."

Ah damn.

"I loved you," he was attempting to sit on the stool next to her but seemed to be having an issue getting up onto it. After a number of failed attempted to get up on and stay seated on the stool he gave up and decided standing was the best way to go.

"You... were... toooooo boring," he stopped in mid-sentence trying to remember what he had been meaning to say.

Sabrina raised an eyebrow at him, folding her arms over her chest waiting on the rest.

"In bed," he gave her a lopsided grin, apparently proud with himself for remembering what he meant to say.

Sabrina started to say something, but he cut her off, "But I'd be willing to take you back."

"Oliver," Sabrina slid off her stood to address him eye to eye.

"Yup."

"Do you remember when I used to say that size didn't matter and that you were more than enough man for me?"

He nodded the goofy grin still on his drunken face.

"I lied," with that, she brushed past him and out of the club.

Oliver stood in his spot, his mouth partially open but he had nothing to say to that.

Instead, he simply watched the sexy curves of her hips sway as she walked away wondering why he'd never noticed how damned sexy she was until now.

****

Finally, home for the night Sabrina had changed out of her dress and into a pair of boxers and a t-shirt. Armed with a tub of buttered popcorn and a bottle of water she wandered into the living room, flopped herself onto the sofa and flipped on the television.

There was a vampire movie marathon on television that night so that was her big plans for the evening.

Just as the first movie began she heard a car pull up into the driveway. Looking at the time she noticed it was almost 11pm. People rarely showed up without phoning first and never at this hour.

Going to the window she peered out. Sitting across her lawn was a black Ford Mustang. Not just any Mustang, but Oliver's Mustang.

She sighed, shaking her head. Not again, not tonight.

He was still drunk and was carrying an open bottle of beer in his hand as he slammed the car door shut. He stumbled, but caught himself by falling against the car.

Looking towards the front door Oliver pushed himself off the car and headed toward the house once more. It took him close to five minutes, but he finally made his way to the front door.
