I sigh deeply. "I do, Avery. I'm just scared, okay. I don't want you to get hurt, I don't want you to go professional or take off again, and I don't want someone else to shoot you." My body trembles in fear.

He smirks softly. "That isn't going to happen again. The asshole is in jail, as well as Duke, and I'm not planning on taking that road again. It's just local fights that'll earn me a lot of money. Please be supportive of me Cassie, I'd support you if this was reversed."

Duke is the fighter Avery was supposed to be going against that night he got shot. The guy was down several points and wanted to take the lead, so he took the so called easy way out. He hired a hit man, paying him thousands of dollars to kill Avery. Not just injure him, but he honestly tried to kill him. I still sweat and tense up just at the thought. When the hitman, named Drake, got arrested, he ratted out Duke. The cops got all the evidence they needed to prosecute Duke, who is getting twenty-five years with no chance of parole. Drake on the other hand got ten years for his attempt with five years suspended, meaning he only has to serve half his sentence.

I take the bowl out of the microwave and turn off the burner on the stove. I continue preparing dinner while thinking carefully about the situation. Finally I place everything down and stare at Avery. "Okay, I'm sorry. I'm over reacting. Of course I'll support you. I'll be front and center every fight, cheering you on proudly."

He flashes my favorite boyish grin before standing and walking back to me. He wraps me in his arms once more, this time with more purpose. He pulls me up and I wrap my legs around him, grinding myself into him. He kisses me with more passion than I've felt in such a long time. He lays me so my back is on the counter, next to the food I'm preparing.

Unwrapping my legs from around him, he grabs at the button on my jeans, then pulls them down. My underwear meeting them on the floor right after. He pulls down his own jeans and pushes into me with so much force I actually whimper. He doesn't wait for me to adjust, he just pulls back and plows back into me, repeating it over and over.

I grab onto his arms, lifting my legs so I can meet his thrusts. His eyes bore into mine, making me feel submissive. I love it. The only noise that fills the air is our heaving breaths, his grunting, and my moaning. It doesn't take long before he starts to shake against me. He pulls away and releases his come all over my sex.

My body shakes with need of a release. He has never done anything like this before and I'm not sure what to think about it. He pulls back and grabs at my ankles, spreading me wide open to him. He stares down at me, his eyes devouring me in such a powerful way. He places one ankle on his shoulder as he leans down just a little. A finger runs along with my folds where his warm release is soaking into my skin.

He uses his fingers to push it into me. It's thrilling in the oddest of ways. His eyes meet mine and he smiles. "My come looks good on you." I swallow, not sure what to say.

He continues to push it inside me, rubbing his thumb on my clit. I'm soaking wet and my own release starts to surface again. I need to get off, I need to explode too. He continues fingering me, watching closely at what he is doing. "This pussy is mine, Cassie." His words give me just the right push and I start coming under his touch. He thrusts his fingers harder into me, mixing my release with his. I can hear a hungry growl deep in his throat as I scream out his name over and over.

When I'm done shaking he pulls his fingers away from me, putting them in his mouth. "Mm, we taste good together." Normally I'd think something like that would be disgusting, but it's actually thrilling in the most spectacular of ways.

"I love you Avery," I whisper, watching him watch me.

He leans down and kisses my lips. "I love you too, Angel." He pulls back, helping me stand up straight, then we both get dressed.

I quickly finish our supper so we can eat before it gets too cold. After a quick shower each, he brings me to the bedroom where instead of fucking, we make love.

Chapter Six

Avery's first fight happens to fall on Valentine's Day. It doesn't impress me but I go to it anyways. Aubrey and Mason join me, and they're both much more excited than me. I don't let my bitterness effect Avery though, I do my best to plaster a smile on my face and support him.

While standing around the dirty basement, I spot Austin and Madison. Seconds later Katie is standing beside them wearing next to nothing. I look down to my basic jeans and tee-shirt. She has a pretty great body which I envy, not that I'd admit it. Personally I think I have the better face, so I gloat to myself.

Aubrey nudges me and narrows her eyes in questioning. "What are you smiling about?"

I purse my lips together as I continue smiling. "Nothing. But uh, that there is that Katie girl I told you about." I don't point to her but I look in her direction and it doesn't take more than a second for Aubrey to know who it is.

She has met Austin and Madison a few times, since they're around Avery quite a bit, but I haven't seen much of Katie, so I haven't been able to show Aubrey yet. She laughs and rolls her eyes. "What a skank."

Pretty much.

Mouse gets on his little soapbox to announce the fight about to start. We get into our places and wait until he calls out Avery's name. He is fighting against someone named Spike. It isn't even his fighting name, it's his real name. He refuses to be called anything else, just Spike. According to Mason, Mouse was a little skeptical not giving him a fighting name like everyone else, but he is apparently a real good fighter and Mouse didn't want to lose him in the ring. That thought makes me twice as nervous.

Watching them come out and size up one another, I'm surprised to see Avery's opponent is almost a half foot taller. He is over six feet tall, I didn't think many people were taller than him, especially by more than an inch or two. I swallow back my fear so I can encourage my boyfriend. The fight begins and I bite at my nails. When Avery gets in a good punch, I yell out my excitement, but when he gets punched in return and is thrown to the ground, I turn away from the fight.

As I'm about to turn back around and face them once more, I spot someone in the back of the crowded room. Pierce's eyes burn into my own and I'm frozen in place. He doesn't smile or frown, he doesn't move or show any emotion, he just stares. At me. His eyes don't blink, nothing. I can't seem to do anything but stare at him as well. What is he doing here? And why is he watching me and not the fight? And why am I watching him when my
boyfriend
is fighting his first fight in months?

I exhale a necessary breath and turn back around. Avery doesn't notice anything and I'm relieved. I need him to concentrate on the fight, not on me or the man in the back.

I scream out in terror when Spike takes one last swing at Avery, knocking him out. Blood pours from Avery's mouth and nose. Mouse throws down the rag, then proceeds to announce Spike as the winner. I run into the circle and grab at Avery. He attempts to smile when his eyes open but then he flinches. Mason and Austin both come over and help him out. When he spits, I spot something just barely white come out of his mouth with all the blood. I look closer at the puddle and notice a tooth. I grimace and look back up to Avery who also spots his tooth.

His tongue feels around in his mouth and he notices where the empty spot is. He smiles at me and I see a bottom tooth to the right is missing. I wrap my arms softly around his waist and he pats my back. "Don't worry baby, I'll be okay. It was my first fight in a long while and that guy is better than I gave him credit for. I'll win next time."

Hearing the words 'next time' makes me pout but Avery can't see it. I'm glad he can't. I don't want to discourage him, even if right now my insides are spiraling out of control. I never want to see him get hit like that again.

We leave the warehouse after a few words from Mouse, as well as some friends and adoring fans. Katie even came up and gave him a hug. I bite down on my tongue, wanting to shove her away but I didn't. Avery just let her hug him but his hands stayed in the air, like he wasn't sure what to do. It made me smile, just a little.

Tonight we're spending the night at Avery's apartment. He said he was going to cook me a meal after the fight and he'd make the remainder of the night romantic, but as his eye and mouth swell and bruise, I decide it's not necessary. I just want him better. I get some ice out of his freezer the minute we get to his home, placing them inside a baggy, then I give it to him. He places the ice on his eye, where it obviously hurts the worse. He cringes for a second, then it remains there. Every few minutes he switches between his eye and mouth.

"What are you going to do about your tooth?" I ask.

He shrugs. "Get a fake one I guess. I'm sure it's the first of many. I'm actually surprised I haven't lost more."

I pout thinking about that. "Why don't you wear a mouth guard?"

He smiles which only causes me to pout more, knowing his mouth is in pain and I can't kiss it. It doesn't help matters seeing a socket instead of a tooth when his mouth is opened enough. "I don't need one. I don't normally let people get my face. When I was traveling around, I had to wear one, but honestly I like the feel of the raw hits. It's more real. I can't explain it, but I do like it."

"You're so weird," I tell him.

We cuddle on the couch and watch a new release I had rented earlier. Since he got his fight, I got a sappy romantic movie. He watches it with me while playing with my hair. We stayed cuddled up together for the remainder of the night.

When I wake up, it's in Avery's bed. I don't even remember falling asleep last night. He must have carried me in here. I feel guilty about that, knowing he was probably incredibly sore from his first fight in months. The spot next to me is empty.

I climb out of bed, using the bathroom before walking into the kitchen. It's empty here. His apartment is too small for him to be hiding out somewhere. I spot a note taped to the door.

Had to meet with Franklin this morning. Then dentist appt. Will call u later. Love you. -A

I have class in two hours anyways, so I decide to grab my things, lock up, and head on to my place. I get ready quickly and make it to school a little early. The talk of the fight surrounds me where ever I go. It's saddening because everyone is in shock of not only Avery coming back, but losing his first fight. I wish he would have won, but I know how it is. You can't always win, its part of the game.

After school I try calling Avery but he doesn't answer. Aubrey is going on a date with Mason tonight. Tomorrow is the day he plans on proposing, so tonight he wants to make sure there is no more tension between them. He stopped hanging around Morgan the second all the plans were set in stone last week. He and Aubrey seem to be doing a lot better already, but he just wants to double check their status before putting a ring on her finger.

There is one other thing that has been bothering me since yesterday, besides the fight and Avery loosing. It's the look I received from Pierce. The fact he was there, the fact he was watching me and not the fight. It's been eating at me so much I wasn't able to do my work today. I still haven't had the chance to apologize in person, so I do something I may regret, I drive to his work.

I haven't actually seen his office, but I know where he works because he has told me a dozen times. He should still be there, because last I knew he was putting in nearly sixty hours a week in hopes he'll be running the company in the next three years. His dad will only pass it on to him if he proves himself worthy.
