“Me too baby, me too.”
“Let's get back. I wonder if Ilyanna's awake yet?” I really need to clear the vision of Sarah wrapped in my arms, writhing naked in our bed as I drive her to ecstasy. This isn't the time or the place, considering I can't bring them to reality at the moment. It is the weekend after all, marathon sex is definitely in the plans over the next couple days.
When we finally push our way through the maternity doors, the sight and sounds alert me that we've missed something. John is sitting in one of the many vacant seats, rocking back and forth, wringing his hands together with a look of total horror on his face. I can hear screams coming from down the hall and I know this is it. Little O'Donnell will be joining us soon. Shit! I can't imagine how much worse he'll be when it's Rachel doing the screaming.
“You gonna make it man?” I ask as we settle down next to him for the long haul.
“Braydon came out about twenty minutes ago. Ilyanna was screaming for Rachel, said she didn't want him anywhere near her, that it's all his fault.” A small smile turning the corner of his mouth up as he lightly chuckles, letting me know that at least he's getting some amusement from this. “He couldn't stay away of course. I'm not going to be able to that's for damn sure. If I'm not passed out on the ground that is.”
Sarah whips her head at his words. “Wait! What are you saying?” She asks and squeals when he nods in answer. “Oh my God! Really? Haha, that's awesome. Congratulations. Who else knows besides us?”
“Just you two, and our parents. We wanted to wait to tell everyone until after their baby was born.”
“I'll keep my lips sealed until I know the news is shared. I'd hate to ruin the surprise.” She jumps as another loud scream rips through the air. “When I have a baby, I want to be knocked the fuck out and cut open. I don't think I can handle this shit.”
Looking at her laugh, her face full of animation while talking about having my baby makes my heart soar. I know she'll be a good mother. Wonder how long it will be until she agrees to start trying. I file that conversation in the back of my mind for another time.
Haylee mae
Ilyanna's asked me to write the birth announcement for the paper and so far the only thing written in front of me is her name, date and time of birth and weight and length. I stare at the sheet in front of me and try to think of things to add.
Born May 31
st
, 2015 to Braydon O'Donnell and Ilyanna Sicliano, Haylee Mae O'Donnell came into the world at 3:37 am, weighing 6lbs, 5oz and is approximately 18 inches long.
So I stare and stare some more, trying to think of things I could possibly know about them to write. At this point I'm ready to throw in the towel and hand the job over to Rachel, she's knows way more than I do. As if sensing my distress, she hands the little pink bundle of joy back to her mommy and joins me on the loveseat that's situated on the opposite wall from Ilyanna's bed.
“Watcha doin'?” She asks and peeks at the paper clutched in my hand. It's now night time and everyone's come back to visit the happy family before heading home and calling it a day. A very exhausting day I might add.
Brent and I finally made our way back to the apartment an hour after Ilyanna delivered. All thoughts of love making gone as we headed straight for the bedroom and crashed for eight straight hours. Disoriented doesn't begin to explain how my body and mind are feeling right now. My sleeping pattern's going to be fucked for a while. “Trying to wrap my head around this announcement.” I thrust it into her hand and she smiles while reading what little bit I've managed to get down.
“I'll finish it for you. If you don't mind?”
“Really? I don't mind at all. I was actually just thinking about asking you if you would.”
“Great! Consider it done.” She looks to Ilyanna holding Haylee and then back at me. “Have you held her yet?”
“No, I'm afraid I'll drop her or something. Honestly, babies scare the shit out of me.”
“Oh come on, don't be ridiculous. You'll be fine. She weighs next to nothing. No chance in dropping her at all. Trust me.”
She ushers me over to the bed where they lay peacefully, Ilyanna cooing at the newborn in her arms. “May I hold her?” I ask, my face scrunching up as she hands me the baby. She has to be the cutest thing I've ever seen. A smattering of dark hair sits atop her dainty head, which is the only part of her I can see at the moment, the rest of her swaddled tightly in her blanket. “She's beautiful, and I love her name the spelling's very unique.”
She beams at her daughter before filling me in on the meaning behind it. “First off, I've always loved the name. I thought it would be cute since I grew up around so many farms to use h-a-y, and l-e-e, well that was a no brainer seeing as Lee Bryce is my favorite musician and Braydon proposed at one of his concerts. Braydon chose her middle name, being the month she was born in and used the Irish spelling.” When she's finished speaking her eyes trail towards her fiancé, the love shone in their depths is one I never thought I would feel.
“You are a cute little baby, aren't you.” I smile down at Haylee and out of nowhere Rachel is at my side, holding her arms out expectantly.
“Alright times up. Give me that baby.” I giggle as I hand her over, bend to give Ilyanna a kiss on her forehead and give her hand a gentle squeeze before turning towards Brent, John and Braydon all huddled in the corner.
“John baby, can you run out to the car and get Haylee's gifts? We forgot to grab them on our way up.” Rachel looks at him with a small pout on her lips.
“Sure, no problem babe, be back in a few minutes.” He says before dragging Brent out behind him for a helping hand.

It feels so good to be home for the night. Snuggled up with Brent and Fenway on the couch, watching some sitcom I can't remember the name of. I laugh all the same along with him. This is some funny shit.
Brent looks at me and smiles, I return the gesture and lean into him for a kiss that effectively makes me forget all about the show we were watching and the little ball of fur sleeping between us. “Let's go to bed,” He whispers into my neck, following his words with a long lick, ending just below my ear, in the spot that he knows drives me wild.
“I wanna make a baby.” I tell him so quietly, I'm not sure that he hears me.
“What did you just say?” He's pulled his face from my neck and looks down at me, cradled in his arms. “Say it again.”
“I want to make a baby with you.”
“Jesus Christ, Sarah, you make me so happy. Your so fuckin' gorgeous, not to mention unexpected.” He carries me with lightning speed to the bedroom, where we make love, long into the early morning, before succumbing to sleep.

We're back at the hospital once again on this beautiful first day of June. I'm not sure if Brent can stay away from Haylee. If his reaction to me wanting to make a baby is any indication, he absolutely loves them. He hasn't given her up since we've been here. Shit, he's even changed her diaper, no pun intended.
“Has anyone heard from Tanya?” Frank asks as he enters the room with George on his heels. Both of them sweaty in their workout clothes, no doubt they just came from the gym down the street. “I tried texting her last night about the new arrival, but haven't heard anything back from her yet.”
George bypasses his brother, coming to a stop in front of Brent who's still holding Haylee and holds his hands out. “Let me see the kid.” How charming. Laughing, Brent hands her over. “You are a cute little thing, yes you are.” What is with the men in our circle of friends? They're like big fluff balls when it comes to babies, and honestly it's sexy as hell.
I turn my attention back to Frank, who's now talking to Braydon about his sister. “I texted her last night as soon as I charged my phone and saw your text. It's not like her, I'm getting' worried man.” He rakes his hands in frustration and starts to pace back and forth, wearing off the polish on the pristine hospital floor.
“I'm going to step out and try calling her. Stop worrying so much. Maybe her phone died like yours did.” I shrug my shoulders and walk through the doorway and close the still open door behind me.
It only takes a few rings for her to answer. “Hello?” She asks her voice groggy from sleep.
“It's Sarah. I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you up. Just wanted to check on you. Frank's freakin' out about you, says he texted last night and you never replied.”
“Oh shit! I had a long night. One I can't remember much of other than waking up not knowing where I was. I called my best friend for a ride and then my phone died. I've been asleep since I plugged it in.”
“No worries, but I do want a story later. We're all at the hospital. Ilyanna had her baby girl early yesterday morning.”
She shrieks into the phone, “Holy shit, really? How long will she be there? I don't think I'm up for going while my brother's are there. They can read me like a book and I really don't feel like twenty questions.”
“Haha, can't say I blame you. They'll be here until Tuesday, seeing she had the baby over six weeks early. I'll double check and text you. What should I tell your brothers?”
“Say I'm fine, one hell of a hangover and I'll call them later. Oh and tell them I'm sorry for worrying them.”
“Will do. I'll text you later and let you know for sure when they're going home.”
“K, bye.”
“Bye.”
Turning the door handle I push and meet resistance from the other side. “Fuck, shit, ow, what the hell?”
“Watch your mouth, there's a baby in here.” I hear Braydon growl and I step fully into the room and laugh my ass off at Frank clutching his forehead.
“Sorry, She's gonna take getting used to.” He says in apology to Braydon while I continue in my hysterics. “What? That hurt.”
“Well maybe you shouldn't be eavesdropping at the door and I wouldn't have smacked you upside the head with it.” I'm not the only one who finds it funny. The whole room erupts at his stupidness.
“Tanya's fine, she's just hungover. Her phone died and she hadn't checked it since plugging it in. She'll call you later.” I rattle off my speech quickly, trying not to fuck it up.
Why am I not surpised, looking at Brent that Haylee's back in his arms. “I hope you two aren't very fond of her. He seems like he wants to take her home with us.” I roll my eyes when Braydon flips me off.
Snatching his daughter from Brent's arms he says, “That's enough for you, go make your own.”
“Oh I certainly plan to.” He winks at me and my insides melt.
Joy fills me as I think back to my time before Brent. It wasn't all for nothing. I helped or should I say, paid for most of Luke's hospital bills. I probably never would have met Brent. Wouldn't have an awesome job and the best circle of friends a girl could ask for. The bane of our existence will hopefully stay as far as fuck away from us as possible since I knocked her on her ass. I still pat myself on the back for that one, when I should be thanking my liquid courage. Either way I did it and don't regret it for a single second. It seems Brent's nightmares stemmed from worry over losing me. Finally seeing there's no chance in hell I'd walk away from him, he's been episode free for a while now.
I'm so thankful to myself and everyone around me for helping me put the past behind me. Fighting off the persona of Desire would have been a struggle without them.
I was that person for my family.
I'm being Sarah for me.
