“Is she pregnant?” asked someone.

“She thinks it is possible,” hedged Lord Bartok.

Lord Belmont shrugged his massive shoulders. “Possible or not, my lord, the king's sister is now queen and that means that the seat at the head of this table belongs to
her
. All that remains is for her to present herself to us that she may be anointed and crowned.”

The rest of the great lords joined in the discussion at this point, nearly all of them agreeing with Lord Belmont. For several moments, Mordecai stood off to one side savouring the sights and sounds of Lord Bartok's ambitions being utterly destroyed.

Then he stepped forward.

Clearing his throat, he smiled at the lords and said, “I am most gratified to learn that nearly all of you agree that the king's sister is the rightful Queen of Glyndoria because it is with great joy that I bring you the news that I have her safe in my keeping. We shall shortly be married and the royal sons I get upon her will rule this kingdom for all eternity.”
