He found himself giving thanks this only happened after he took care of the asshole. But Danae is safe now. Remember she is safe. Somehow that helped keep him calm.
A faint tapping woke him out of a light doze. The droids must be close. Jase had to fight down the urge to move, to do something. He needed to stay still and he'd never found it so hard. He didn't bother calling out. The droids would track him through his vital signs.
Finally, he could see lights headed his way. The droids' eyes could cast a high beam if needed. Two of them, looking only slightly dinged, dug their way towards him. And right behind them, crawled one crazy little bitch.
"I told you - "
"Yeah, yeah, I know. You're going to beat my butt. Hush, now. We're almost there."
Once they reached him, the next few minutes he wished he could permanently erase from his mind. At least when they uncovered him, he didn't see any parts missing. He passed out as they started to drag him out. Probably just as well.
When he woke, a face hovered over him that definitely did not belong to Danae. An older guy, white haired, stocky but with a tough, don't mess with me kind of look. He wore a faded UFXP uniform. This guy had seen plenty of space time.
"Who the hell are you?"
"I'm the medic from the supply ship, here to check on you. Looks like your droids did a good job of setting your legs. All I really had to do is give you a few bone re-growth shots and a better pair of casts. Stay off them for a couple weeks and you'll be fine. I'll leave you a hover chair. Crutches won't work very well with three broken ribs, too.
I'm done here, so I better run. The pilot is already bitching. Schedule is God to them. If you have any questions or need anything, send a message through the net. You've got the pull for an unscheduled flyby stop if necessary. So if you need it, use it."
"Pull, what pull?"
"Are you kidding? You've got the most productive crystal mine in the sector. When your woman put out the SOS, we moved your stop up a day. Even with the other add-ons she made to the supply list."
Jase thanked him without asking any more questions. You don't ask a question if you're not ready to hear the answer. And the only question he could think of - had she already left?
He woke again the next morning and wished he hadn't. He didn't need a doctor's orders to stay in bed; his whole body ached like he'd been squashed under a supply drop. He reached for his comm unit on the side table. Better see if he could raise one of his droids. Not that they were programmed for regular house or nurse duty but what the hell.
The bedroom door opened and the last person he expected walked through.
"Glad you're awake. I have some breakfast for you and a dose of the pills the medic left you.” She set a tray down then started fussing with the covers on his bed.
Silence. Jase wanted to say something, something right but the words wouldn't come. "I thought you'd leave with the medic."
"No."
He took a deep breath. "Well, then you'll leave with the ship next month. I'll give you a stake; you'll be able to go where you want."
She looked straight into his eyes. He felt like she could see into him, everything he'd ever been or would be. He dropped his head and mumbled into his chest.
"What did you say?"
"I said, a girl should have choices."
She sat next to him on the bed, leaning that luscious mouth so close he could almost taste her.
"And if I choose to stay?" Her hands stroked circles on his chest.
His throat suddenly felt a little raspy. "I guess I'd learn to cope."
Her hands moved further south. No damage there. His legs might be busted but his cock was ready for action. She pulled aside the covers and took him in her hands. Aw, shit.
"Danae, I can't do you much good now."
"Shhh. I know but this will make you feel better. Just lie still tough guy. "
Danae kissed the tip of his cock, licked her way up and down then took him in her mouth and started sucking while his eyes rolled back in his head. It didn't matter that she needed a little more practice to get her rhythm. She got the job done.
Jase exploded into her mouth. To his surprise, she didn't try to pull out, just sucked him harder. She swallowed it all down then stroked her tongue all around his cock, 'til she'd cleaned up every drop.
He pulled her up on her chest, tucked her head under his chin and held her tight, ignoring his own protesting ribs. How could a woman make him feel so good and so scared all at once? What he said before was bullshit. He might offer to let her go and mean to do it. But if she did try to leave he didn't think he could really be that good. He squeezed her again and sighed.
"I want you to stay. I want you, just you. Not anybody else. And I want to make it official. You know, the marriage thing."
Danae brushed his mouth with hers. He pressed against the seam of her lips until she opened for him and he thrust his tongue inside, tasting her. Only her. He pulled back and tried to glare.
“Well?”
“Yes, Jase. I want to do the ‘marriage thing’”.
Thank God she didn’t make him beg. As he nuzzled her neck, she laughed." You might change your mind when you see what I added to the supply drop."
Jase smiled and nipped her just under her chin. "What did you get?"
"Oh, a little of this and that. Cushions, a new comforter, equipment for a hydroponics garden."
"What the hell are we going to do with a garden?"
"A few fresh fruits and veggies wouldn't hurt you. Especially since we'll be here another five or six years at least. It won't take us long to set up."
He growled at her but she just raised her eyebrows and smiled.
"I'll build the damn thing. But I'm not doing any planting or weeding or whatever else kind of shit you do with it."
She leaned over and kissed his forehead. "I wouldn't dream of it."
A small meow came from the front room.
Danae hopped off the bed. "I'll just let you enjoy your breakfast. Call me if you need anything." She zipped out the room as he roared.
"Danae! What the hell is that?"
No answer, just a faint giggle.
After a while, the object in question wandered into the bedroom, mountain climbed up the side of the bed and curled up on Jase's chest, ignoring the human's death glare. The orange ball of fluff had a loud purr for its size.
"I just want you to know, I haven't said you can stay."
The kitten yawned, unimpressed.
"God I hope you're a male."
