Gluten-free grains such as brown rice, red rice, wild rice, buckwheat, quinoa, millet, amaranth, polenta, and corn.

Bananas: mashed with slippery elm powder and arrowroot, they provide good nourishment for babies and children with celiac disease.

Beans, nuts, and seeds.

Fruits, vegetables, fish, lean white meats, eggs, and sea vegetables.

AVOID

Alcohol containing glutens such as beer, wine, whiskey, and vodka.

Ice cream and packaged foods, especially soups that contain glutens.

Wheat, rye, barley, kamut, spelt, and oats, which contain glutens.

Seasonings and sauces when eating out. Foods you would not expect to contain gluten often do.

HERBS AND SUPPLEMENTS

Take aloe vera juice before each meal to aid digestion and bowel function.

Drink alfalfa tea. This is extremely
nourishing and is particularly useful when digestion has been compromised.

Drink blood-nourishing yellow dock tea.

Slippery elm powder can help to soothe the gut.

Take protein-digesting enzymes with meals. Papein, from papayas, has been found to help in the digesting of wheat gluten once you have had gluten out of your system for at least six months.
