“Conor, I still
worry about it,” I say.

“About the
baby?”

“Yes. What if it
is a shapeshifter like you? How will I handle it?”

“We both will.
Don’t worry. We will love it and teach it everything it will need to know. You
are not alone in this. You have me and our friends.”

I guess I still
wish I had my parents close to me. It would give me great joy if they met their
grandchild. I highly doubt they would be willing to, especially if it is a
shapeshifter. In the end, I always come to the same conclusion. That it’s best
that we are apart. They would never understand and accept Conor and my new way
of life. I hope they are alright and that they have managed to be content with
my happiness.

At first, I was
suspicious of Ellard. That he would betray Conor’s residence to my parents and
they would come and claim me back. I presume he honored my decision and
probably feigned amazement the next morning that they found me missing.

“Do you know
what I want most right now?” he asks me, playful, sparks glistening in his dark
eyes.

“What, my Lord?”

“To stop
working, to have a shower and take a long nap for the rest of the afternoon,
holding you tightly in my arms.”

I crack a smile.

“As you wish, my
Lord.”

He bends towards me and kisses me with undying passion.

Sometimes you have to choose the uncrossed path. The one lacking
certainty and reason. And if you happen to step on this path in the company of
a wise wolf who will light your way in the dark, making sure your routes to
uncharted territories are safe… then, you are a lucky girl.
