Reading his mind, she laughed. “My place or yours?”

“Mine. It’s closer.”

Helping her out of the pool, Liam kicked a noodle out of the way. Becca looked back over her shoulder. “I love the water now. Thank you.”

Liam’s heart did a funny skip inside his chest. “Just wait until I teach you to dive.”

She froze and looked at him as if he’d lost his mind. “Dive? Are you nuts?”

Maybe. He leaned over and planted a kiss on her lips. “Only when and if you’re ready.”

She relaxed and after a second, nodded her head. “I just might try it.”

Gotcha
. “Let’s go.”

Together, they left the pool hand in hand.

Epilogue

Six weeks later

“Let’s be really clear, I’m not wearing sea foam green.”

Becca quirked a brow at Van. “Give me a little credit here, would you? I might be the bride to be, but I will not be putting my bestie in a hideous dress so I can look better.”

Van grinned. “I mean, if it was Cavalli, I might not sneeze at it.”

Becca laughed. “I hear you.”

Van licked another invitation envelope. “You look really happy, babes.”

“I
am
happy. Everything about this feels right. Like this is where I belong.”

“Not to mention the ring is better.” Van laughed

Becca glanced down at the simple Emerald cut stone and elegant band that had belonged to Liam’s grandmother. She smiled softly. “It’s better because it means something.”

The front door opened, and Liam’s voice filled her apartment. “Where is my beautiful bride to be?”

“We’re in here.”

When he appeared in the dining room archway, Van smiled and shook her head. “This is my cue to go before the two of you start making out like a couple of teenagers. Honestly, if I didn’t love you two so much, I would be a little sick.” She packed up her bag and gave Liam a quick squeeze before throwing up a peace sign. “Call me later, love birds.”

“How did it go at the office?” She asked with a smile. Liam, his father, and Manny had started a tentative partnership where Liam’s swim program acted as a funnel to both programs, with Liam as the deciding factor as to who went where. So far it was working out, but things could still get tense between him and his old man. Still, it was a start, and that was what was important.

“It was fine, but do you think I can give my fiancée a kiss first before I talk about the next Olympic hopeful?”

“That can be arranged.” Becca stood and leaned over the table for her kiss.

Liam had other plans. He picked her up and dragged her over the table, sending invitations everywhere. His kiss was hot, and she melted under him just like she always did. His tongue slid into her mouth, and she moaned, looping her hands around his neck.

He drew back slowly. “The things you do to me, woman.”

Becca grinned. “Says the man who pulled me across the table to molest me.” She kissed him briefly again, relishing in the warm embrace of his strong arms. “How’s your mom?”

“She’s good. Getting stronger every day, and her appetite is back. Of course, now she’s got the most random requests like California burritos at eight in the morning.”

“That’s great. She’s been through so much. I’m thrilled she gets to be part of the wedding.”

He studied her intently. “Are you sure you’re okay with getting married here in San Diego? I mean, I know how important it was for you to get married at home.”

Becca shook her head. “Nah, it was more about having a family atmosphere. And we’ll have that here. Your mom isn’t strong enough, yet, to fly back and forth, and I know she really wanted to help with planning, so this is the best of both worlds.”

“You’re amazing, you know that?”

“I’ve been told that once or twice.”

“And who’s this that’s been telling my bride to be that she’s amazing?”

Becca grinned. “Just her husband to be, that’s all.”

Liam shook his head. “Who knew your bad driving could turn out so well?”

Becca smacked his arm. “I still maintain that it was all your fault. If you hadn’t tried to steal my spot, I wouldn’t have hit you.”

He pulled her in closer. “How about we agree to disagree, and I just call you my hit-and-run bride.”

Becca kissed him again. “I like the sound of that. The bride part. Not the rest of it.”

“Fine. How’s this: ‘my bride’.”

“That’s perfect.”

About the Authors

USA Today Bestselling Author Nana Malone’s
love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she borrowed from her cousin on a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana at a precocious thirteen. She’s been in love with kick butt heroines ever since.

With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters. Waiting for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, Nana meantime works out her drama, passion, and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.

Nana is the author of twenty novels. And the books in her series have been on multiple Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble bestseller lists as well as the iTunes Breakout Books list and most notably the USA Today Bestseller list.
