“Do you think I don’t know what you are doing?  You are trying to make me uncomfortable so you can watch me squirm and laugh at me
,

I challenge.

“No, that’s not what I am doing.  I’ll admit it’s sexy as hell when you blush around me
,
but everything I’ve done thus far to you,

he says as he moves up closer to me and wraps his hands around my waist,

is pure
ly because I can’t stop myself.
My control slips when I’m around you
,

h
e whispers close to my ear.  I swear I felt a goose bump on my big toe.

I stepped back from him and looked around.  How could he act like this and say these things in front of all these people?  He wasn’t scared to do anything and he just acted like they didn’t matter to him.  The whole class was just standing there staring at us.
All I can think about is that I’m glad they can’t hear his whispers in my ear.
They had already changed back into their regular clothes.

     “Mine too
,
” I whispered.  He smiled when I admitted this.  I look at him wondering what we were doing.  I figured I needed to get to my next class.  “I need to go.”

He nodded like he understood and stepped away from me.  Before I could say anything else, he turned around and left.  Well, I’m the one who said I need to leave
,
but he did, go figure.  This boy confuses me
.

By the time I left the gym, Cara and Jess had both text
ed
me.  Ugh, this is horrible.  They were blowing my phone up with texts about what happened between me and Cash in gym class.  I don’t know why stupid people have to gossip.  Here we go
,
I think
,
as I open my text messages to reply.

*What the hell, you
makin
out with Cash in PE?  Jess asked.

*
It’s
not what it looked like, we were…ugh ill explain later, too much to text.

*OMG, is it true?  Cara text
ed
.

*I’ll explain later, too much to text.  I answer even though I don’t know what to tell them.

I struggled through the rest of the day.  I feel like I don’t know what to do around him because he makes me nervous.  I’m still reeling from the kiss myself and all I know is that I want to be around him more.

     That afternoon,
while I was helping mom fix supper she asked, “
How was your day
,
Mil?”

“Mom, can I ask you a question?”

“Sure honey, what
’s
going on?”

“Well, I don’t really know how to explain it
,
” I started.  “There is a guy
that I like
,
but he confuses me,
” I say knowing how dumb it sounds.

“Well, what exactly is he doing that confuses you?”

“Umm, the few times I’ve talked to him, he seems kind of short with me
,
but he looks at me like he is interested.  I feel like he’s trying to get under my skin
,
but then at the end of our conversations, he says he likes me.”  (I really didn’t want to tell my mom what he really said is that he can’t control himself around me and I actually freaking agreed with him
).

My mom starts smiling and leans over the bar and says, “Ok
ay
, now tell me what he did, not what he said.”  I smile at my mom as I look down so I can think about how I want to tell her that we practically made out in class.

“Well, he kind of kissed me in class today.  I don’t really know how to explain it without sounding cheesy, but it was the best kiss I’ve ever had.  It was like we just fit together
.  T
here was no awkwardness of trying to figure out where your head should go
or how soft it should be.  A
m I e
ven making any sense right now?
But the thing that confuses me
,
is that it actually started off as a stare off that I wasn’t about to let him win.  Then, before I know it
,
he is kissing me and I don’t even know where I am
,
” I say getting breathless.  My mom sits there on the stool looking like she is considering what to say to me and to be honest, I’m a tad bit scared of what it will be.

Honey, that
is called chemist
ry.
You and what did you say his name was?

“Cash
,
Cash
Davis
.”

“Well, you and Cash seem to have chemistry and that
is that
really cool feeling you get just from being around them.  It’s when you don’t recognize your surroundings or the people that are around because you only see him.  It’s really an amazing feeling.  This is exactly how your dad and I were when we first met.  I thought he was kind of a jerk and cocky
,
but there was something about his gentleness when he was around me that turned me inside out.”

“Yeah
,
I’m definitely feeling something.  He just seems so sure of himself, of everything.  Solid, you know?”

“Yes, I do.  I personally really like people like that because those are the
kind of people you can rely on.
Whatever happens, just go with your gut.  That
Diamond
gut is hardly ever wrong
,

s
he said as she got up to set the table.

“Thanks mom, I’ll do that
,

I said
a
s I got the
napkins
and silverware.

“You’ll have to help Eli clean up after supper
.
I’m going down to the
station to take your dad lunch
.”

“No problem.”

After supper, mom left and I decided I would go get in the shower
and get a good
night’s
rest.  Before I got in
,
I
laid
out my outfit for
tomorrow
night.  When I went to my closet, I realized I had left it at Jessica’s house the night before.  Dang.  I sighed.  I text her and asked if she could bring it to school tomorrow.  She text
ed
me back and asked if I could just come over after basketball practice and get ready at her house.  With that problem solved, I got in the shower.  As the water ran down my spine, I couldn’t help but to think about everything that had happened.  I was thinking about his kiss, the
way
was his hands touched me with ease, the look in his intense blue eyes.  He had a way to make me think we were the only two people in the room and I liked that.

I had never had sex with anybody before and it wasn’t that I was really waiting for marriage
or anything
,
I just wanted it to be right.  I wanted to be prepared and sure because my mom had always told me it was something to be treasured and that once you did it
,
you couldn’t take it back.  I believed her too
,
because for something to have that much pressure attached to it
, it
had to be a big deal.  That was one of the reasons I didn’t date Cameron very long.  He was hands all the time and he never really wanted to talk to me.  I probably wouldn’t have minded it so much if I
would have been tempted even a tenth of what he was
,
but I wasn’t.

When I thought about Cash, it was totally different.  My hormones were fighting my brain and I wanted to be around him and kiss him all the time.  I wasn’t scared
,
a little nervous
about being naked,
but not scared
.
Not that I thought we would have sex immediately, but I knew the natural progression of things.  For some reason, it always felt so far from my norm with other guys, but with him I could totally picture it.
I came out of my day dream and realized the water from my shower was cold.  I made my way to my bedroom and watched old re-runs of Saturday

CHAPTER
5

The next
day at school, everybody was buzzing about the bonfire.  They were all talking about what time they were going to get out
to the bonfire
and how cool it was going to be on Cameron’s dad’s land.  I wasn’t really listening to my teachers either, I
was too stoked.  By
the
time I entered the gym, I noticed Cash wasn’t there.  I wondered if he was sick or if he would be at the party later.  He didn’t really strike me as the type that cared who was part
y
ing where
,
but then again, I could definitely see him enjoying a party.  The whole school would be there, so I knew he had heard about it.

I went down to the far goal again mainly to be by myself
.
I wasn’t in the mood for socializing right now.
While I was shooting, Cameron came down there.  “Hey Millie, are you coming to the party tonight?”  He took my ball from me so I would have to face him.

“Yeah, I’ll be there
,
” I said hoping that would pacify him and he would leave.

“What are you going to be wearing?  I hope it is something that shows off you
r
legs
,
” his
smirk kind of freaked me out.  He had crazy eyes when he said it and I was now debating telling the girls I wasn’t going.

“Cam, knock it off, you know we are just friends.”

“I don’t think you realize how hot you look in these cute short shorts.”  Now this douche bag thought he was going to run his hand around the
h
em
of my shorts?

“And I don’t think your dumbass realizes when a girl doesn’t like you and doesn’t want you touching her.” A deep voice came from behind me.  I realized immediately who it was

Cash.

Cameron peeked over my shoulder at Cash and kept his hand
on my shorts.  He raised one
eyebrow
in his direction.

“Easy
,
Cash

Millie and I have history, we were just
talkin
’,
” Cameron said smoothly.

“I don’t give a shit what you had with her, she doesn’t want you touching her now and you won’t.”

The way Cash was looking at him was so
intimidating
that I felt a little worried watching this, like it might not end well.  I just stood there silently.  I had never had two guys fight over me before, not that they were really fighting
,
but they were having words.  And I thought my stare off with Cash was intense.

“Okay guys, the bell is about to ring
,
” I said even though I had no idea what time it was.
