“Where the hell have you been?” he called.

She startled at the sound of his voice, eyes searching for him in the darkness and he resisted the urge to smile. He loved catching her off guard.

When she spotted him, her spine stiffened. “Oh, the Raptor’s defense lawyer stopped me, Kent. He asked me to go for coffee.”

“So you made another date?”
Fuck.
He sounded jealous, even to his own ears. A crack of thunder exploded above them and she yelped. Evidently, she was on edge too.

Cowboy had a feeling the storm had only begun.

“Hardly. It’s a meeting.” She notched her chin higher as she approached the sidewalk. He loved the way she walked with purpose, Daisy almost always marched, all soldier girl. “Were you waiting up for me?”

Yes, but he didn’t want to admit he had been sitting here, worried about her, lusting over her. He had a fucking terminal case of blue balls since he met her and tonight hadn’t helped matters. It had taken every single ounce of willpower he possessed not to unzip his fly, and push his cock into her, crowd be damned.

Frankly, she made him fucking crazy. If he had any sense he’d ride over to Perdition and spend the night fucking the shit out of one of the hellions. Hell, make it a party. He’d grab two or three of them. His balls sure as fuck felt full enough.

“I’m gettin’ some air.”

She sat at the very end of the bench, as far away as she could get without actually falling off and it pissed him off. He only wanted to get closer to her, the urge to touch was just about irresistible.

“Why so unsociable?” he drawled “You loved rubbin’ up on me earlier tonight.”

She didn’t say a word, just inhaled sharply. Her chest rose and fell in quick succession, she seemed as agitated as he felt. At least she’d gotten to orgrasm earlier tonight. The water cascaded off the roof, fell in sheets just a few feet from them. She stood up, reaching a hand out to touch and he could still see through her shirt.

Lightning split the sky, like skeletal hands reaching down from the heavens, grasping and then the rain came cascading down, even harder than before. Rain spattered on them both, borne on the wind, hitting them beneath the awning. It felt good. Texas summers could be hotter than a four alarm fire.

 “That was for show.”

The sexual tension stretched between them, larger and more oppressive than the humidity in the air. She started for her room when he stood up and latched on to her arm. “You’re driving me out of my mind, Wildcat.”

“Turn me loose!” she bit out.

“You don’t want me to let you go.” To prove his point, he arched his hips against her and she moaned, low in her throat, a sound of pure sensual agony. It made his cock leap in response. The sound alone made him want to claw her clothes off, throw her down on the ground and fuck her. Her eyes flashed. Like she couldn’t quite decide if she wanted to kick him or kiss him.

She brought inspired a tangled mass of emotions he didn’t know what the fuck to do with—anger, lust, concern. What the fuck did he want with her? He sure as shit wished he could be immune. Fucking her had to do be the answer, maybe if they eliminated the need gnawing at him it would go away and he could think clearly again.

“Aren’t you sick of pussyfooting around?” he ground out. “Pretending to be all business?”

She said nothing.

He licked his lips as he watched her pebbled nipples poke through the thin cotton of her T-shirt. They looked so ripe, so large. He craved the softness in his hands, the weight of them. He wanted to take them in his mouth, suck them and bite the nipples.

Christ.
He felt like he’d been hit with a dose of Viagra laced with crack. She caused his mind to race, made his cock painfully hard.

“Talk to me,” he said.

She glanced away and he grabbed her chin, forced her to look him in the eyes. He wanted to see the desire in their depths. Feel her want, even if she refused to verbalize it. He had to know she needed him, wanted everything he could give her.

“Fuck you,” she muttered.

She’d teased him past the breaking point. Enough was enough.

“I thought you’d never ask.” With a growl, he hoisted her up on the railing, stood between her splayed thighs. She pressed her hands to his chest, but not to push him away, she stroked him.

“Out here?” she cried, glancing over her shoulder at the empty lot. He didn’t see a problem, nothing but asphalt behind them. The darkness, combined with the thick curtain of rain, would make them invisible to the road. No one would see them.

Frankly, in his current mood, he didn’t give a shit if anyone did.

“For starters,” he managed to say.

He ran a hand along her shirt, relishing the warmth of her skin beneath the dampness. She shivered at his touch, goose pimples raising on her skin. He tried to slide the fabric up her body, but it clung to her like a second skin. Unwilling to wait any longer, he brought both hands to the collar and ripped the cotton in half.

Then he dipped her further backwards, into the runoff from the roof, and let the rain water sluice down over her, wetting her hair, her body. Then, he devoured her mouth, kissing her harshly.

When he pulled back, she looked beautiful. Flushed cheeks, her lips kissed-bruises, eyes shining back at him. He brought his hands to the button of her shorts and undid them, then slid the wet cloth down past her hips, along with her tiny panties.

He inserted a hand between her thighs, gratified to find how wet she had gotten, hot and needy for him, like she’d been when he first stroked her in bed. He pushed two fingers into her pink little pussy, caressing her, watching as her teeth sank into her lower lip. He played with her, teasing the hard nub of her clit until she moaned for him, arched her back.

The lightning crackled in the black sky, lighting it up.

“I need a bed,” he growled, “I need to be on top of you,
inside
you.” He wanted on his bed, open and eager, while he fucked her hard.

With a growl, he hoisted her up into his arms, holding on to her ass, as she wrapped her legs around his waist, clinging to him. He threw open the door and spread her open for him.

He loved how unselfconscious she was; she kept her legs apart, arms at her sides, not trying to hide her body from his predatory gaze. Just looking back at him, bold as brass.

How many times had he watched her? Delivering drinks topless or breezing around nearly naked, dancing on stage, just out of his reach? This time she was his,
all his.

He unfastened his jeans, and his cock pushed free, already aching and heavy, pulsing with need for her. It stood up against his abdomen. He needed to be inside, pound the ever living shit out of her, until they both came. Fuck, he’d been hard as a fence post all night.

She reached for him, encircling his dick and stroked it, while meeting his eyes. The head leaked for her, fluid running down, to ease her strokes. Then, she licked her finger, ran it over the tip and he bucked in her grasp.

“Jesus Christ,” he muttered, knocking her hand away, before he came in her grasp.

He sucked in a couple of breaths, and then started in on her again. He tormented her a bit, rubbed the swollen head against the smooth folds until she groaned in response, arching her pelvis.
Fuck.
She felt like warm silk. She surged against him and his cock grazed her clit, making her wail every time he pushed forward.

“You’re killing me!” she moaned.

“I owe you, Wildcat. I’ve had blue balls for weeks. I’ve jerked off so many times, my palms are hairy, and I’m goin’ blind in one eye.”

“I was doing my job,” she breathed.

“Well, you did it really fucking well and now it’s time to take what you’ve been promising me.”

He started to sink into her, when she placed a palm against his chest. “Condom!” she muttered.

Hell, he’d nearly forgotten. With a groan, he reached into the nightstand drawer, fumbling in the dark and finally found a little packet. One of the crappier duties prospects performed included refilling everyone’s condom stash. He didn’t bring hellions here, but he kept a supply anyway, because shit happens. He unrolled the thing and slid it quickly over his over his dick, Indie 500 pit crew style.

He sank into her, his cock gliding into her hot, tight, wetness. Fuck, she clutched at his dick, her sex surrounding his. He almost came then, but forced himself not to move. He brought his lips to hers, kissed her. He’d wanted to tease her, take her to the edge, until she exploded for him, and pleaded with him to cum, but he couldn’t fucking wait.

He needed her. Needed this.

He plowed into her then, thrusting hard and deep. With a cry, she lifted her hips further up, clinging to him as he pistoned in and out.

“Cowboy!” she called.

Oh fuck.
His name on her lips nearly made him shoot.
Then
she began to move, coming up to meet his thrusts. She sank her nails into his ass, urging him to go harder, faster. He did, working her over. Impossible, but even inside her, he felt too fucking far away. She arched her back, making these luscious moaning sounds he wanted to hear again and again, and came for him.

Just before he shot into her, he thought back to the first night, when he’d wondered how she would be in bed, purring pussy, or a wildcat.

Definitely
, a wildcat.

* * *

What the fuck was that?

Afterwards, he lay on his back, stunned and staring at the ceiling, panting like a lizard on a hot rock.

He had nothing to compare it to. Since Melissa, he’d cultivated his manwhore side, though he never came close to touching the amount of notches on Ryker’s bedpost, but he had a smooth way about him with the ladies. It seemed to fail him with Daisy. She made him edgy, possessive. Greedy.

She curled on the opposite side of the bed. He’d wanted to take her in his arms, pull her against his side, but she’d retreated. It was quiet.
Too quiet.
Neither of them spoke. The only sound was the rain falling outside, splashing across the window panes, and the mechanical whir of the air conditioner unit on the wall.

He wondered if she had regrets. The circumstances hadn’t changed, they were still in the middle of a volatile situation and they’d just complicated the fuck out of it.

Daisy stretched and then slid out of bed. She leaned down and picked up her soaked, discarded clothing, tucking them under one arm, and a velvet box slipped from the pocket of her jeans, landed on the covers.

“What’s that?” he asked.

“Oh, I forgot to mention it,” she shrugged, as she threw it to him. Then, a wicked smile lit up her face. “I got a bit distracted.”

He chuckled, but the good times ended when he opened the box to see a heart charm attached to a delicate gold chain. She tossed him a tiny damp card as well. Inside, it simply read:
Soon.

Soon what?!
“Who gave you this?” he asked.

“Not a clue. I found it tucked into my windshield wipers.”

He racked his brain, trying to think of someone who might have given her a present. “Think it’s from the short guy who tried to fuck you the other day?”

“He doesn’t exactly strike me as the type of guy who gives a woman jewelry. The necklace looks expensive to me.” She rounded the bed, and plucked the box from his hand, popping it open. “It’s really beautiful.”

“You sound like you want to keep the damned thing.”

“Because I do. I grew up poor, Cowboy. Gold is gold, no matter where it came from.”

“You aren’t keeping it,” he growled.

“Why the hell not?” she asked.

He frowned and spoke slowly, clearly she didn’t get it. “It’s a present… from a stalker.”

“It isn’t the necklace’s fault.” She ran a finger over the charm. “It’s not my taste, I prefer silver, but I still think it’s pretty.”

He snatched the box from her. “You aren’t keeping it, and that’s final.” He flipped it over to find the jewelry store’s name.
Devilish Diamonds.
“I’ll ask one of my brothers to track down the buyer.”

“Hey! I planned on running down the lead.” She held out her hand.

He raised a brow, not buying it.

“Seriously, I think you are making way too much of this. It isn’t connected to the case, it's probably from one of those military guys, who just caught my act and thinks I’m hot. Now, Give me back my necklace!”

“Nope. No obsessive stalker love tokens for you.” He removed his Four Horsemen pendant, a blazing horse with a silver chain and placed it in her hand. “If you want a necklace, you can have this one.”

“Hmm, it’s your club symbol,” she said, examining the pendant. “Thank you for the offer, but I can’t accept it.”

“Oh, but you can take the creeper’s jewelry?” She tried to hand it back to him, but he waved her off. “It’s done and it belongs to you now. Put it on.”

She hesitantly slipped it over her head and it fell between her breasts. It looked damned good on her,
right
somehow. In the eyes of his club, he had just marked her as his own, but somehow he doubted she’d appreciate that bit of knowledge. He’d tell her about it later—much later.

“Well, thank you, Cowboy.” She gathered her clothes up once more, and walked to the door.

“Where are you going?”

She yawned. “I’m tired and I need to sleep.”

He raised a brow. “I got a perfectly good bed.” He patted the mattress. “If you’re tired, you can sleep here.”

She made a face as she glanced at the bed. “No, thanks, I’ve never slept beside anyone. I’m really not the cuddly kind of girl.”

“Never?” he asked, staggered by her admission.

 “I am pretty sure I c
ouldn’t
sleep next to someone.”

He had only been truly intimate with Melissa but he’d found the experience soothing –holding her, touching her, watching her sleep had been sheer bliss. While he hadn’t held any of the hellions, he had the urge to tuck the little Marine into his body, sleep beside her.

He shrugged as though he didn’t give a shit. “No problem.”

She reached for the doorknob.
