“She fell for my charm and good looks.” Reaper smiled down at her. “And the tattoo of Daisy Mae on my ass.”

Leigha rolled her eyes. “No, I fell, and you helped me up with your injured arm, even though I knew it hurt like hell.” She shook her head, a sweet smile playing across her lips.

Reaper nearly laughed at her story. Eric stood nearby, shaking his head. He’d been there as well as Reaper. Leigha had more than fallen. She’d been attacked and nearly killed.

God, he loved this ex-cop who played down her incredible bravery in the face of death.

Leigha went on with her bullshit, glossed-over tale, played out for the benefit of their friends and patients. “I figured if you could sacrifice a little pain to help me up, you couldn’t be all bad. Maybe half bad. And that’s just the way I like you. Half bad boy, half gentleman. One hundred percent SEAL.” She stood on tiptoe and kissed him full on the lips. “Now, are you marrying me, or do I have to return this dress for a refund?”

Reaper grinned. There was the sass he loved so much. “Let’s have a wedding!”

They skipped straight to the
I do’s.
And the best part: Reaper got to kiss the bride. He took his time, drank his fill, and went back for seconds. This was the woman who lit the whole damned box of fireworks in his books.

He nibbled on her ear and whispered, “Wanna go back to our place and get started on the wedding night?”

“Umm, that’s a distinct possibility,” she answered. “But what about our guests?”

Reaper glanced around the room. His SEAL Team 10 teammates were swapping war stories with patients, laughing and sharing experiences. For some of the patients, the happy occasion would help to take their minds off their own problems.

O’Connell and Tuck were holed up in the corner making up, which made Reaper’s heart swell. Those two should have been together all along. “I don’t think we’ll be missed,” Reaper pronounced. “Come on.” He grabbed Leigha’s hand and headed for the exit.

As he started through the door, he spotted Jon stepping through, a smile on his face. “I hear congratulations are in order.” He hugged the bride and shook Reaper’s hand.

“In more ways than one.” Leigha smiled at the man. “Don’t tell me you have his first assignment, and we’re just starting our honeymoon.”

Jon’s smile faded. “No worries. Another GAPS agent will cover for him until you get back.”

“Will my client have an issue with my being one hand short of a pair?” Reaper quipped, too happy to be disappointed if the answer wasn’t what he wanted to hear.”

“Not at all. I think the client will just be happy to have someone to protect him.” Jon waved toward the door. “Go on. Enjoy your honeymoon.”

Before anyone else could waylay them, Reaper hustled Leigha out the door and into their new life together. He never would have guessed that by losing his arm, he’d gain the love of his life.
