He quickly winked at
Madison and shook Jessie’s hand. “It’s nice to finally meet you. I need to run. Carter is giving me the evil eye.”

He leaned down and quickly kissed
Madison. “Bye sweetheart.”

Madison
looked back at Jessie and rolled her eyes. “Don’t say a word!”

“Sweetheart?”

“We had a good talk.”

Jessie pulled her across the street and into the Centre. As they arrived at their seats,
Madison smiled. They had center ice and the best seats in the house. She could hear the boo’s around her as she wore the rival team's shirt but she didn’t care.

“You are going to get us killed, Maddy.”

She laughed. “They won’t kill us. I will get my boyfriend to kick their asses.”

Jessie clapped her hands. “I’m so proud of you! You are doing this, Maddy! I can’t wait to come and visit you.”

“You are welcome anytime, Jessie. I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for you.”

“Well, you are like a sister to me. I want you to find your happiness and I think you just did. He just skated out onto the ice and is wearing number forty-four.”

CHAPTER TWELVE

As the game ended, the Centre buzzed with excitement from their win over the opposing team. Madison sat in her seat and waited for instructions from Carter. She saw Jessie talking with a guy in the crowd as everyone was exiting around them.

“
Madison, this is Scott. We went to school together.”

“It's nice to meet you, Scott.”

“Same here, I’ve heard a lot about you.”

Madison
looked at Jessie. “Oh really, I hope she hasn’t been talking bad about me.”

Scott laughed. “No, it’s all good.”

She felt her cell phone buzz as she read through Carter’s message. “Hey Jessie, we need to run. The guys are going to be waiting for us.”

“Guys?” Scott asked.

Jessie smiled. “Madison’s brother is the famous Carter Sinclair.”

“That’s awesome! That has to be very cool to have a famous brother.”

Jessie quickly jumped in. “The best part is that her boyfriend is Hunter Longo.”

Scott looked back towards
Madison. “Holy crap!”

Madison
shrugged as she grabbed Jessie’s arm. “It was nice meeting you, Scott. Take care of Jessie when I’m not around.”

He hugged Jessie as
Madison pulled her up the stairs and out into the lobby. “We are supposed to go down to the basement level and wait by the security gate.”

As the rode the escalator into the basement, they could see a group of fans gathered around the metal security gates. They had pens and paper ready for autographs. The gate around the home team was very busy compared to the other gate. But, there were still girls pacing around the opening in the gate.

As some of team members started to leave the locker room, the fans jumped on them for autographs. Jessie laughed. “Look at these women! They give us all a bad name.”

Madison
couldn’t help but laugh at her. “Really? I guarantee you that you want to pounce on one of them just the same way as these girls do.”

“Watch it, I already told you that I think Longo is hot.”

“He’s taken. Back off.”

Jessie laughed and hugged her. “I love seeing this side of you!”

She spotted Carter leaving the gate as the girls asked for his autograph and to take pictures with him. He smiled at Madison and made his way through the crowd. He hugged her and tightly. “Jessie, long time no see! How are you?”

“I’m great Carter, almost done with school.”

“Congratulations. Thanks for taking care of my little sister while I was being a total douche.”

Madison
laughed and smiled at Jessie, who responded. “You are completely welcome.”

“Where’s Hunter?”
Madison asked.

“He’s right behind me. Just brace yourself, he’s very popular.”

Before he could finish his sentence, the crowd started to cheer and swoon when Hunter appeared at the gate. The girls called for him and he quickly grabbed some pens and signed everyone's cards and papers. His eyes met Madison’s and he winked at her.

“Hunter, can you sign my card?” Some random girl asked as she pushed her way through the crowd.
Madison felt her body tense as this stranger placed her hand on his arm.

Hunter finished signing her card and handed it back to her as she whispered something to him.
Madison felt a strange feeling brewing throughout her body. She felt uneasy and tense. Jessie must have felt her body go rigid and leaned over to her. “He’s hot, Maddy. He’s going to have groupies all over him. You just need to take a deep breath and remember that he wants to be committed to you.”

Madison
nodded and felt a sense of relief race through her body. “You are right, Jessie. Let them ogle him, I know that he’s heading towards me.”

She smiled. “Good girl.”

Carter sighed and looked at Madison. “I’m going to have to get used to this, right? You are dating my best friend.”

“Yes, you do. Plus, I will be living down the road from you also.”
Madison smirked at her brother as he laughed.

Hunter made his way over to her and wrapped his arm around her. “I have been waiting to do this all night long.” He leaned down and kissed her lips. She could hear the girls behind him boo and curse at him as they left the building. She finally felt like she had a life and future to look forward to.

As he pulled away from her, she smiled at him. “When do I get to see you again?”

He frowned and looked Carter. “I don’t know, we aren’t back up here for awhile and we are in the back half of the season so we don't have a lot of breaks.”

Madison wrapped her arms around his waist and just took in his scent. His cologne filled her nostrils and she prayed that she would remember that feeling until she saw him again.

“Well, I gave my two week notice at work and my new apartment should be ready by next week. Carter has offered me his suite for your home games as soon as I get into town.”

Hunter beamed again as he sealed his lips against hers. Madison smiled underneath their kiss as she realized how perfectly his body fit against hers. She heard Carter clear his throat as Jessie laughed. “Leave them alone, it’s so wonderful to see Madison happy.”

As Hunter pulled back, he smiled at her. “Are you happy?”

She could honestly say that for once in her life that she was. “I am.”

They smiled at each other as Carter said good bye to Jessie. She grabbed her camera and asked if she could take a picture with Hunter.
Madison rolled her eyes and took the picture for her. “My friends at school will be so jealous that my best friend is dating the hottest hockey player in the league.”

Carter cleared his throat. “Excuse me, am I chopped liver?”

Hunter quickly responded. “Compared to me, yes.”

They laughed as they said goodbye to each other. “Call me soon, ok?”
Madison said as she walked to the bus.

“I will. We are heading back home tonight. I will give you a call in the morning.”

They waved as the bus loaded and the girls headed back to the street level to find their car. As the pulled from the parking lot, they spotted the bus heading up onto the expressway and towards the airport.

“I’m ready to start the next chapter, Jessie.”

“That’s my girl and the world is ready for you.”
