Epilogue

~

Tamara slammed the door of the dryer with her elbow as she pulled her basket to the side of the machines and made her way to sit down to read her mail. It was the only chance she got to get out of that crazy house with her sisters always bugging her for something. Laundry day was her calming day. She put the basket down on the ground next to the chair and picked up her pile of letters from her bag. The top one was fancy. Not a bill then. With baited breath, she ripped it open and pulled out an embossed invitation. It was the wedding invite for Chad and Kendra. Only six months of dating and they were getting hitched? Divorce number 3 for Chad coming right up. She had stayed friends with Kendra after she’d left the company for bigger and brighter adventures and knew of the engagement but never did she think the wedding would be so soon. Tamara flashed back to the time in his office when she had eaten Kendra out while Chad fucked her from behind. Her pussy began to pulse at the memory. And now he was marrying Kenny? Must be some kind of kinky relationship if they could withstand that together. That wasn’t for her. She may put on a front that she is in it for everything but she really wanted to find the one who wanted to give attention to her only. She wanted to find her prince charming. Her knight in shining armour. Laughing at herself, she knew she needed to lower those expectations. This was the 21
st
century after all. A girl was going to have to settle for something she didn’t want, right? She opened up the other bills and whatnot and sighed at the feeling of drowning. She was in debt and only 22 years old. What hope did she have now? Her mother had been in the same boat. No money when she was younger and had almost bankrupt herself trying to get rich. Instead all she got were debts and pregnant by a lowlife who didn’t even stick around to witness Tamara’s birth. She never knew her father and didn’t care to if that was his attitude. No…what Tamara needed was an image lift, a new path to journey down. She needed to get out of town and start over where no one knew her, or her slutty past. That was the thing. Men wanted sluts, but when they were serious about settling down, a former slut wouldn’t do. It didn’t matter how many women they fucked in their heyday, they were legends while the women who went out of their way to please them were labelled and tossed to the side. The machine beeped in the background to alert her to the fact her clothes were almost dry. She got up, carrying her basket and bag with her toward her machine and she waited. Vaguely aware of the new person who had come in from the entrance and walked around to the washing machines in the back, she went on about her business. How was she going to get enough money to travel to another state and start over? Google would have some sort of forum to tell her where to start…Google had everything. The second she got home, she would research until she had a way to get out of this miserable situation. Her clothes stopped tumbling then and she pulled the door open, almost knocking herself out. Damn it, get your head in the game. Pulling out her warm clothes, she pushed them into her basket and closed the door to the dryer so no one else hit their head like she always did. Tamara pushed forward, heading for the door when she heard someone call out to her.

“Miss?”

Turning around, she almost dropped her basket on the floor. Luckily, she caught the edge and saved it.

“Yes?”

“Uh…you dropped these back there.”

She looked down at the piece of material dangling from his fingertips. Her aqua lace panties. The vibrant, almost fluoro, colour material panties had seemed like a good idea at the time but now, they were a beacon of shame.

But she bet they weren’t as bright as her cheeks were right now. Holy fucking shit.

“They aren’t mine.”

He smiled. The cocky, and devastatingly handsome jerk was smiling at her. “They fell out of your basket. Are you saying you were stealing someone else’s drawers?”

“They must have already been in the machine.”

“What about the matching bra in the basket?”

Of course that was visible right on top of everything else in the damn basket. She looked down at the offending item and wanted to peel her own face off to stop the burning sensation in her cheek area. Dear God he really was attractive. She could barely speak. His stubble made him appear a little rough and his eyes told her to stay away from him but she couldn’t help but be drawn in by those full pink lips. Those lips could do some damage to a woman. They were the kind of lips you knew were trouble - that would make you do anything he wanted you to.

She snatched her aqua panties back and shoved them into her pile of clothes before she stepped backward and away from him. He had crossed his arms over his chest which only pushed his huge biceps together. He worked out.

A lot.

As she neared the door, she looked up at him again and caught the curious gaze in his eyes before she felt something sharp rip into her side. She screamed out in pain and dropped her basket before pulling herself from the dryer door where a broken latch protruded from it. His gaze changed to concern and he came forward to help her. She pushed away and felt the fabric of her skirt tear away from her legs and crumple to the floor. The man hunched over and let out a loud bellow. Tamara looked down at her bare leg, now bleeding from the scratch there from the latch on the door.

“This is not funny!” she growled over at him, as she flicked through the basket and pulled out a pair of jeans. She turned her back to him to pull them on.

“Nice pins,” he said, still chuckling at her.

“Well…thanks…bastard.”

Picking the basket up again, she flung it around and left the laundromat, steaming. Jesus. What a fucking asshole. All the way home, she couldn’t help but feel a little amused at the scene in the laundromat. If it had been reversed, she would have been in stitches. She couldn’t really blame the man but ooh, he had been delicious. The kind of man you could never take home to mama, but definitely one you wanted to take home and tie to your bed as you rode him for all he was worth.

Her sisters were still squabbling in the kitchen when she finally got home which meant she would have peace as she folded her clothes and put them away.

At least one good thing was going to happen today.

Flipping the entire basket up on her bed, she searched for her lingerie first to put away. Aqua bra, black panties, period panties, lacy items, pantyhose…wait…where were the aqua panties?

After all that, she’d lost them on her way home. What if he had found them again? At least he had the smarts to not come running after her again to give them back. She probably would have mowed him down and pushed him in front of a moving car.

She opened up her Facebook app on her phone and wrote a status update.

Never buy #AquaPanties.

The one good thing was…she’d never see him again.

There was a God in heaven.
