“Easy,” she said
softly. “It’s only a couple weeks old and still tender.”

“So fucking hot,” he
groaned. “Why did you—”

“You wanted me to,” she
said simply.

“No, baby, I said I
thought it would be hot. You did it because
you
wanted to, right?” He
placed a tiny kiss on the area, noting that it was so new it was still slightly
red and scabbed over. He wouldn’t go near it tonight; he knew the chances of
infection and didn’t want to risk it. Hopefully he would have years to enjoy
it.

“Of course I wanted
to—but with you in mind.” She ran her hand down to lightly run her finger along
the gold. “So, is it
really
hot?”

He met her eyes and
brought her hand to his crotch. “What do you think?”

“I think you like it,”
she laughed.

Forgetting what he’d
said earlier, he made short work of the rest of their clothes and she reached
for his long, hard cock with a sigh of contentment. She lightly ran her nails
along his shaft, loving the way he reacted to her touch. Nothing made her
happier than feeling him responding to her; touching him turned her on as much
as it did when he touched her.

“Come here, baby.” He
rolled to his side and pulled her up against him, her back up against his
front. He gathered her long, silky hair and draped it over his shoulder,
letting it fan out over both of them. Burying his face in her shoulder, he
kissed her tenderly, putting his left arm under her and then up around her
middle. His left hand gently traced circles around the piercing, while the
right slowly explored the skin along her right thigh and hip.

She was content to just
let him touch her for now, enjoying his strong body and how he made her feel.
If she’d ever doubted him before, she couldn’t anymore. He was hers, and despite
her insecurities, she felt something different between them now.

“You make me so hot,”
he breathed in her ear. He pressed his erection into her back and she sighed
happily. His hands traveled to her breasts, taking one nipple between his fingers
and rolling it until she gasped. “You might be too sensitive for nipple
clamps,” he murmured.

“What?” She glanced
back at him.

“Just thinking aloud,”
he said softly.

“I’m not very
adventurous,” she admitted.

“Yet,” he corrected,
nibbling her neck. “You didn’t like handcuffs or have a navel piercing when I
met you either.”

She smiled, turning
over so that she was facing him. “So what are you going to show me now?”

“Tonight I’m going to
make love to you until you are 100% convinced that I love you,” he said softly.
“And then I’m going to do it again.”

“Oh, yes, please.” She
closed her eyes when he kissed her, running her hands over his arms.

Reaching for the condom
he’d left next to the bed, he opened the package and then handed it to her.
“You put it on,” he said.

She smiled, taking it
from him and lifting herself to her knees. She knelt between his legs and
leaned over to run her tongue along his glistening cock. He hissed quietly
between his teeth, surprised she’d done that after he’d handed her the condom.
When she squeezed him between her hands and nipped at the tip, he groaned deep
in his throat.

“Just want to make sure
you’re worked up,” she teased, glancing up him.

“I promise, I’m worked
up!” he grunted.

She slowly rolled the
condom down his pulsing shaft and let her fingers lightly dance along his groin
and thigh areas, teasing him without really doing anything. Sitting back on her
haunches, she brought her hair over her shoulders so that it fell down across
her breasts as she looked at him with pure adoration.

“God, you’re
beautiful,” he whispered, reaching for her. He took her hand and sucked one of
her fingers into his mouth. Slowly, he continued to suck one finger and then
two before pulling her forward to lie across him. “Is it better for you when
you’re on top?”

She shook her head. “I
can come faster when I’m on top, but
better
?” She laughed. “With you, I
don’t know if there’s any such thing—you blow my mind every time you touch me.”

“Well, I don’t want you
to come too fast tonight,” he said, flipping her onto her back and finding her
mouth with his. He nudged her thighs apart with his knee, pausing to gently
push her hair out of her face before he put the fat, blunt tip of his cock
right at her dripping entrance. He waited until she was looking at him before
sliding into her, one excruciating inch at a time. With their fingers
interlaced on either side of her head, he kept his eyes on hers as he started
to move, first shallow and then deep, over and over, taking his time. He
watched as her eyes slowly glazed over and her mouth parted. She undulated
beneath him, meeting his hips with hers.

He filled her
completely and she was sure it would have been painful if she wasn’t so hot for
him.

“Karl, please…” she
breathed, her fingers squeezing his urgently.

“What do you want,
baby?” He stopped moving and stared down at her with so much love in his eyes
she arched against him.

“You—please! More!”

“Like this?” He snapped
his hips forward, thrusting hard and deep before stopping again.

She whimpered in
frustration. “Don’t stop.”

“Do you love me, Kate?”
he whispered, lowering his mouth to hers and hovering.

“Yes.” She lifted her
head to kiss him but he pulled away.

“Tell me how much.” His
blue eyes were focused intently on hers, watching as she struggled to
articulate everything she was feeling.

“I, I can’t put it into
words,” she finally gasped. “You’re everything to me. Without you, my world
stops turning.”

“I knew the minute I
laid eyes on you that there would never be anyone else for me,” he rasped. He
plunged deep again, loving the sounds she made when he fucked her hard. She was
thrashing beneath him now, unsatisfied because he kept stopping, but he dragged
out the torture, rocking his hips and changing the angle. She cried out,
arching as far against him as she could.

“Oh, Karl, please… I
love you!” she gasped as he continued his game, pulling almost all the way out
and then driving back in.

“You’re mine…” he
ground against her, finally starting to lose control. She was so tight he could
feel her start to flutter around him. Without hesitation, he let go of her
hands so that he could wrap her legs around his waist. Then he slammed into
her, forgetting all about taking his time. She was there with him, her cries
undoubtedly alerting everyone in the building that they were having sex.

“Karl!” She threw her
head back against the pillows when the first waves of her orgasm hit her, and
then she barely breathed as he chased her climax with his own.

“Fuck!” He shouted her
name when he couldn’t hold back anymore. Then he collapsed, wrapping his arms
around her tightly.

Chapter
13

Coming down from the
high of making love with Karl, Kate curled against him, her body perfectly
molded to his, despite their height difference. With her head against his
shoulder and their legs wrapped together, she was as relaxed and happy as she
had been since he left. He stroked her hair, calm and comfortable, with nowhere
to go and nothing to do except make sure she was as happy as he was.

“We should do that all
the time,” she murmured sleepily.

“No more handcuffs?” he
teased.

Her head tipped up and
she grinned. “Oh, no, we should do that too. We should do all of it, like,
every day.”

He chuckled. “I might
need a break some days, so, you know, I can play hockey and stuff.”

“Oh, all right.” She
pretended to huff.

“Hey, you might want a
break sometime too. We might have a house full of kids someday and—” He paused
as she literally tensed in his hands. “What’s wrong?” he asked slowly. “Don’t
you want kids?”

“I don’t know,” she
admitted. “I’ve never been overly fond of the idea of being pregnant or giving
birth… It seems so messy and painful and stuff.”

“I guess.” He frowned
gently. “Erin and Suze haven’t seemed too worried about it.”

“That’s because they’re
already so perfect. Adding another 30 or 40 pounds to my body would just be
so—”

“Beautiful?” he
interrupted lightly. “Sexy? Delicious?”

She made a face.
“Seriously?”

“Do you think Cody
loved Suze any less while she was
37
pounds
overweight carrying his child? And yes, he told me how much weight she gained.
Do you see the way Dom looks at Molly, even now when she hasn’t taken off the
pregnancy weight and is exhausted all the time from taking care of the baby?
Having a baby with the person you love should be a time of bonding and falling
in love all over again. Do you really not want that?”

“I kind of decided a
few years ago that I wasn’t going to have kids,” Kate said, getting a sinking
feeling in her stomach. She’d never even thought about whether or not he wanted
kids, and she was truly terrified of everything involved in being pregnant.

“You’re going to tell
me that while we were broken up, and you were feeling sick enough to take
‘quite a few’ pregnancy tests, if I recall correctly, there wasn’t some part of
you that wanted to be pregnant with my baby?” He looked deep into her eyes.

“I did, but it was
because I thought I didn’t have you anymore, so I wanted something of yours
that I would have forever. Now that I have you back…”

“You don’t want a child
with me?”

“I don’t want to
give
birth
to a child. I wouldn’t mind adopting.”

He looked at her with
frustration, unable to understand what she was feeling and wondering if this
would be a big enough deal to change his mind about her. He loved her, more
than anything, but the idea of not having kids simply because she was too
afraid of gaining weight during pregnancy or that childbirth might be painful
was just beyond his comprehension.

“You’re mad at me,
aren’t you?” she asked, shifting slightly.

“Not mad.
Disappointed.”

“Ugh. That’s something
my father would say.” She rolled onto her stomach, folding her arms under her
chin.

“I’m sorry, baby, but I
can’t imagine purposely making a decision not to have children. It would be
different if one of us was unable to.”

“We could hire a
surrogate,” she said softly.

He rolled onto his
stomach too, assuming the same position she was in, but rested his cheek on his
arms, so that he could look at her. “Are you really that terrified of gaining
weight?”

“I don’t know. When our
friend Tessa was pregnant, Erin and I basically lived it with her. We held her
hair while she vomited in the beginning, we shopped for every cream and potion
to help her with stretch marks as she got bigger, we rubbed her feet when they
were so swollen she could barely walk…” Her voice trailed off. “It seemed so
miserable, even though she was mostly happy the whole time. And Erin hasn’t had
much trouble at all. She’s like five months pregnant and can still wear regular
clothes as long as they’re not too tight. I would probably look like a whale by
the end of the first trimester.”

“Ah, your self-image
issue rears its ugly head,” he said softly. He reached out to rub his thumb
across her lower lip, her chin and then her jawline. “When are you going to
understand that I love you just the way you are? I can’t wait for you to gain
back some weight because frankly, your hip bones dug into my gut every time I
pushed against you.”

She snorted. “That’s
not true!”

Karl laughed. “Yes it
is, but I love your voluptuous body and round ass and huge tits. Those are all
part of you, baby. You gaining baby weight isn’t going to change that. Neither
are a few stretch marks. Although, to be honest, you are not the first girl
I’ve dated who was not a size zero, and they all had stretch marks from their
weight. You don’t even have one—your skin is gorgeous!”

Kate sighed, rolling to
her side and resting her head in her hand. “I know I have issues, and once we
get settled, I’m going to start seeing a psychologist. In the meantime, can we
compromise?”

“Always.”

“I’ll think about
getting pregnant if you’ll at least entertain the idea of hiring a surrogate.”

He nodded. He hated the
idea of someone else carrying their child, even if it was their biological
child, but he hated the idea of losing Kate even more. “Deal.” He reached out
to run his hand down her arm. “So, now I need a favor.”

She frowned. “Of
course. Anything.”

“I’d like to go see my
mother once more before hockey season starts, and I’d like you to come with
me.”

Her mouth opened and
she blinked. “I thought you said you didn’t feel drawn home to Sweden anymore?”

“I’m not drawn to
living there or even calling it home anymore—but I’m always going to be drawn
to my parents, the house and town I grew up in, some of my friends and all
that. I still want to go visit.”

“Maybe you should go on
your own,” she said after a moment. “I don’t know that I’m ready to be right
smack in the middle of all the people that perpetrated what happened. Your
friends almost got you fired from the Sidewinders, your sister broke us up… “

“That’s kind of why I
need you to come with me.” He grazed her lips with his. “My main objective is
my mother—I want you to meet her before she…” His voice faded and he swallowed.
“The cancer has already spread once. They don’t know exactly how bad it is, but
there is still a chance that she won’t make it, and I need for you to have a
relationship with her. Just in case. And the truth, if you want it, is that I
need to be able to prove to you that I didn’t do those things. I know you’ve
said you believe me and it’s good between us again, but that doesn’t mean that
somewhere in the back of your mind, the next time I’m on a long road trip and
you’re home with two cranky toddlers—” He grunted when she pinched him in the
thigh. “That you’re not going to see a picture of me with a female fan and
wonder if I’m being faithful.”

“I can’t promise I
won’t ever be jealous,” she admitted. “Being married to a hot professional
athlete can be difficult no matter who you are, but I’m never going to jump to
a conclusion again, no matter how damning the evidence is.”

“Please come to Sweden
with me.”

“I have to get back to
New York and catch up on my life. Dante has a bunch of appearances coming up
that I need to be available for, and I don’t even know what
your
plans
are.”

“Until training camp
starts, my plans are to be wherever you are. And possibly spend just a little
more time with my mom.”

“We haven’t even
discussed what happens when hockey season starts.”

“We’ll make it work. I
don’t know the details of how your business works, but I would imagine that you
can work on your big PR campaigns here in Vegas just as you can in New York.
You’re also not far from L.A. here, which could open up a whole new set of
possibilities. And there’s no reason you can’t travel—I’m on the road quite a
bit too, so it’s not like you have to sit home waiting for me.”

“What are the chances
that you’ll get traded?” she asked.

“I don’t know,” he
admitted. “Honestly, the whole reason for bringing me here was to get ready to
take over for Marco when he retires. However, he doesn’t seem anxious to retire
and players seem to be playing longer and longer these days. I really don’t
know what’s going to happen.”

“Is there another team
out there that would pick you up specifically to be the starter?”

“No one has approached
me or my agent,” he said. “So I don’t know. That’s the reason I was even
considering going back to Sweden—I just have no way of knowing what’s going to
happen. My career is almost on hold right now. It’s killing me, but I trust
Coach Barnett.”

“Then it doesn’t make
sense for me to move my business from New York to L.A. or Vegas. Now that I
have two people working for me, I can commute. My money pays for my place in New
York and all my expenses, and your money more than covers living in an
apartment here. Maybe we should keep things the way they are for the upcoming
season. We’re going to be traveling a lot anyway, so I can try to work my
schedule around yours.”

“That’s probably the
smartest move right now.” He nodded. “Until I have a better idea if I’m staying
in Vegas or not.”

“And to answer your
original question,” she leaned over and kissed him. “Yes, I’ll go to Sweden
with you. I just need a week or two in New York to get caught up.”

“I love you,” he
whispered.

“I love
you too.”

Being back in New York
was a whirlwind of meetings and paperwork. Kate had barely stepped off the
plane before her phone started ringing. Dante called while they were in the cab
leaving the airport and she picked it up right away.

“Hey, I just got back
to New York,” she said.

“How are you feeling?”
he asked. He’d been in touch with her every day since she’d collapsed.

“Much better,” she
replied, hoping he wouldn’t start in about her taking care of herself. “Where
are you?”

“I’m home, gearing up
for the All-Star Break.”

“I put out several
press releases about you being chosen, and I’ve had a million requests for
interviews. Are you willing?”

He sighed. “That’s part
of the job.”

“You okay? You had a
rough game last night.”

“My good luck charm
hasn’t been to any of my games lately,” he said lightly.

She laughed. “We can
come out this weekend if you want?”

“Karl is with you?”

“Yes.” She paused. “Is
that okay?”

“Of course. All I ever
wanted was for you to be happy.”

“Then we’ll come out
Friday and stay for the weekend games, and I can actually get some press
conferences set up while I’m there. If so, it will be less stressful for you.
I’ll be on vacation during the All-Star Break, but Lana will be available to go
with you if you think you’ll need someone.”

“We’ll see.” He sighed
again.

“What is the matter
with you?” she demanded. “You actually sound hormonal!”

He chuckled. “I’ve got a
pregnant girlfriend who doesn’t want to have sex and a hard-on for two women I
can’t have.”

“Two?” Kate was
surprised.

“I seem to be going
through a phase,” he said. “It’ll be okay—lots of girls at the All-Star game.
I’ll get myself laid and all will be right again.”

“Did you ever think
that it’s your dick that keeps getting you into trouble?” She put a finger over
Karl’s lips as he started to say something.

Dante’s laugh was
genuine. “My dick and I have an understanding. Unfortunately, I haven’t been
keeping up my end of the bargain lately.”

“You’re incorrigible!”
she was laughing.

“I’ll see you Friday,
Kate.”

“See you then.” Kate
disconnected and smirked at Karl, who was frowning at her.

“Do you always talk
about his
dick
with him?” he grumbled.

She laughed. “I was
only pointing out that it was getting him in trouble; it wasn’t personal.”

“I still don’t know if
I like it,” he muttered.

She leaned over and
kissed him. “You’re cute when you’re jealous.”

“You know he wants to
sleep with you, don’t you, Kate?”

“Of course I know,” she
shrugged. “But he knows that I don’t want to sleep with
him
.”

“Did he
try
something with you?!” Karl was staring hard at her.

She raised her
eyebrows. “I’m sorry, there was that little incident where you called me fat on
Twitter and broke up with me, remember? So I was single, and yes, he did make a
pass at me. But I turned him down and that was that.”
