Chapter Twenty Four
“B
obby…Bobby…Babe,” Paige called, becoming more anxious by the moment. She looked around the water pushing her hair out of her face. She was sure she saw him dive under the water fall. She whipped around the little cavern feeling her heart started to pound. “Bobby,” she called loudly.
Paige jumped nearly out of the water when his strong arms wrapped around her and he popped out of the water. Paige yelped then narrowed her eyes at him. She playfully splashed water in his face. Bobby laughed and wiped the water from his face, pushing his hair back.
“That wasn’t funny Bobby,” Paige pouted.
“I’m sorry, let me make it up to you,” Bobby mock pouted and pulled her legs around his waist.
“How do you plan to do that,” Paige chuckled as Bobby started kissing the tops of her breasts and squeezed her curves under the water.
“I have something I know you like,” Bobby crooned pulling her heat against his erection.
“Really Bobby, again,” Paige laughed and panted.
“And again,” Bobby kissed her throat, “and again,” he kissed her collarbone, “and again.” Bobby pulled at the back of her bikini clasp.
“Bobby, wait,” Paige gasped and frantically pushed at his chest.
Bobby looked at her panicked face and released her. Paige waded across the water as fast as she could to the edge of the water in the cavern. She barely lifted herself from the water before she started to empty out her breakfast.
“Paige,” Bobby said anxiously from behind her as he started to rub her back.
She was too weak to be embarrassed and push him away. Her stomach was reeling and it just kept coming. Bobby felt helpless, all he could do was murmur soothing words and rub her back. When it seemed she was finished Bobby pulled her back into his arms and kissed her temple.
“Are you okay? Can I move you,” Bobby whispered against her cheek.
Paige nodded. “I’m fine. I can swim back,” she said weakly.
“No,” Bobby insisted lifting Paige into his arms and sliding back into the water. Paige could only let her head roll against his cool wet shoulder, cooling her face. “Almost there Baby.”
Bobby only stopped to pick up their towels once back on land. He held Paige tight in his arms all the way back to the house as if she weighed nothing. Nathan was sitting in the Jacuzzi when they approached. As soon as he saw Paige in Bobby arms looking weak he jumped out to meet them.
“Is everything okay,” Nathan asked rushing forward to open the door to the house to let them through.
“She got sick out at the cavern. One minute she was fine the next I don’t know what happened,” Bobby said with a concerned frown.
“I’m okay,” Paige said with her eyes closed.
“I’ll have dad call the doctor,” Bobby said and kissed her forehead.
“No, please. I must have eaten something bad,” Paige whined. “I just want to shower and I’ll be fine.”
Bobby pressed his lips as he debated whether or not to agree to not calling a doctor. “Let me know if there is anything I can do,” Nathan said as he followed them upstairs to their room door and opened it for them, seeing them into the room before closing the door and turning to leave. Bobby walked straight to the bathroom placing Paige on the countertop and moving to the shower to turn it on.
Paige felt her stomach churning as she sat groaning. Bobby turned to come toward her but she was up off the counter shooting for the toilet. She just barely made it in time.
“I’m calling for the doctor, Paige,” Bobby said sternly as he rushed to her side.
She shook her head as she braced herself against the bowl, gasping. “No, shower…bed. I’ll be fine.”
“Dammit, why are you so stubborn,” Bobby sighed and instantly felt bad as he saw the tears roll down her cheeks. “I’m sorry baby. I just want to make sure you’re alright.”
Once Paige felt her stomach was empty she sat to wait for the nausea to pass. Bobby wet a towel and placed it on her neck. When she felt like it was safe she slowly pushed to her feet and went to brush her teeth. The shower was still running so Bobby followed her unfastening her bikini top, then moving to push her bottom down her leg. He stepped out of his shorts and as soon as she finished rinsing her face he lifted her and carried her into the shower.
Bobby pulled her messy bun down and reached for her shampoo. Paige sighed when his large hands started to massage the shampoo into her hair and scalp. Bobby stepped closer so she could lean her body against his.
“Is that better,” Bobby murmured.
“Yes, much better. Thank you.”
“Will you let me call the doctor just to make sure you’re alright,” Bobby pleaded.
“No,” Paige snorted. “I’ll be fine Babe, promise.”
“You’re impossible,” Bobby grunted.
“You love me,” Paige purred as she savored the feel of his hands in her hair.
“I do.” Bobby kissed her neck. “Step under the spray and rinse.”
Bobby conditioned her hair and washed every inch of her body lovingly, like she was the most precious thing in the world to him. He toweled her off and carried her back out to the bedroom placing her gentle on the bed.
Bobby walked to the dresser and pulled on a pair of pajama pants. Paige smiled to herself as she watched his muscles play under his taut tanned skin as he moved around. Paige knew there were hours of working out put into that body.
His back muscles have muscles
; she thought to herself and laughed.
Bobby grabbed a t-shirt from his draw and turned to give her a questioning look. “Something funny,” Bobby asked.
Paige bit her lip and shook her head. “Nope,” she smiled.
“Lift your arms,” he commanded in a sexy voice as he approached her on the bed.
Paige obeyed his command and he pulled the shirt over her head and gently slid her arms in. Paige pulled the collar to her nose and inhaled. It smelled like just him and made her smile. Bobby smiled at the sight of her in his shirt as she climbed under the covers.
“Come lay with me,” she patted the bed beside her. Bobby climbed in and pulled her up against his chest. “Much better,” Paige snuggled in with a grin on her face.
“Can I get you anything, Princess,” Bobby asked as he twirled her damp hair around his finger.
“You can tell me a story,” Paige murmured and yawned.
“What story would you like to hear?”
“About my prince when he was a boy. I want to know all about him,” Paige laughed.
“I can do that,” Bobby chuckled.

Paige woke up feeling bereft as she realized she wasn’t wrapped in one of Bobby’s weird sleeping request. He was stretched out next to her with an arm across his chest and the other under his head. He looked so peaceful in his sleep, so much younger and vulnerable. His grey eyes weren’t open to pierce through her every thought and emotion. He looked like he didn’t have a care in the world. Paige smiled and brushed a kiss across his lips.
He stirred a little but didn’t wake. Paige was happy to see him resting. She rolled out of bed to go use the bathroom and her stomach reeled the moment she lifted to her feet. She rushed to the bathroom closing the door quickly trying not to wake Bobby. She was just in time once again. Her head was pounding this morning and she just wanted it all to stop. She never gets sick. Ellen hadn’t been feeling well a few nights ago after she and Sam went out to eat. Paige was sure that had to be the case.

Bobby cracked his eyes open to the sound of Paige heaving in the bathroom again. He looked around to catch his bearings. He remembered telling her about his childhood until she fell asleep for a few hours while he caught up on some reading. Nathan brought Paige some soup and Bobby a sandwich last night, after they didn’t come down for dinner.
Paige fell asleep again in his arms while they talked about their college experiences. He remembered falling asleep not long after her. His eyes flickered to the window and he could see the sunlight peaking in. He cursed when he heard Paige’s muffled cries coming from the bathroom.
Bobby jumped from the bed and rushed into the bathroom to find her holding her hair back while she heaved. Bobby ran over to her side taking her hair from her hand with one hand and placing his other on her back to rub. Paige used her now free hand to anchor herself against the toilet.
“Paige, Baby please let me get the doctor over here,” Bobby pleaded.
Stubbornly Paige shook her head no. Bobby sighed and buried his face in her back. It pained him to see her like this.
“This is killing me, Paige. I don’t know what to do,” Bobby said desperately.
“I’ll be fine,” she sobbed. “Just go Bobby. I can do this by myself.”
“No Paige,” Bobby gritted. “I can’t just leave you here like this.”
“Please, can you just go get me some ginger ale or something,” Paige begged.
“After I get you cleaned up, yes,” Bobby replied.
Paige groaned but relented as her stomach reeled and growled. She slumped against his bare chest and closed her eyes, suddenly happy he didn’t go. Once again Bobby got her showered and back in bed.
“I’ll go down and see what I can find to settle your stomach. While I’m down there I’ll find my dad to let him know I’m not going out on the boat this morning,” Bobby said as he pulled the covers over Paige.
Paige shook her head and pressed her lips. “You will do no such thing. I’m just going to sleep all day anyway. I’m the only person I know that can catch the flu or something on vacation. I want you to go out with the guys. Camille will keep me company if I ask,” Paige insisted.
“You’re kidding me right. I’m not leaving you,” Bobby narrowed his eyes and pushed a hand in his hair. She was so stubborn. He was ready to snitch the hair from the roots.
“Babe, I’ll be fine. Please don’t stay behind because of me. It will just make me feel worse.”
Bobby pinched the bridge of his nose and tried to count. It was going against everything inside him, but he knew he was giving in to her request before she finished speaking. He just couldn’t say no to her. He rolling his shoulders and opened his eyes. She was giving him the sweetest smile.
“Fine Paige, but I don’t like it. I want you to call my dad’s phone if anything happens. He forwards his calls to the boat. I’ll make sure we don’t go too far out,” Bobby conceded.
“I promise if I don’t feel well I’ll call you, but trust me. I’ll be fine,” Paige yawned and snuggled into the covers.
“I love you,” Bobby kissed her cheek and tucked her hair behind her ear.
“Love you too. Go so they don’t leave you.”

Bobby sat lost in thought as the guys talked about the game the night before. His mind was with Paige and how she was fine one minute the day before and then the next she was sick. They had been having a great time at the waterfall. He had never seen her smile so much. The sparkle she had in her eyes when he first met her was back.
His heart swelled to know he was the reason for that smile. It was more than the amazing sex. He was in love with everything about her. The way she was concerned with everyone and their comfort. He loved fact that she was so strong, but she had those cute moments when you saw the shy girl inside.
Bobby loved that she watched everyone to know what they needed. Paige has a really good heart. In just a few days she had opened up to him, and he felt like they had been together for so much longer. All he wanted was to protect her and love her. Knowing that she wasn’t feeling well and there was nothing he could do was gutting him.
“Dude, are you listening,” Marcus waved his hand in Bobby’s face.
Bobby pushed Marcus’s hands out of his face. “What?”
“What’s going on with you?” Marcus said with concern.
Bobby rubbed his eyes with the palms of his hands. “Paige was sick yesterday. She thought it was something she ate but I woke up this morning and she was in the bathroom again. She’s so stubborn she won’t see a doctor,” Bobby pressed his lips and looked down at his hands like the answers were there.
“Is it possible she could be carrying a Mairettie,” James asked with a board smile.
Bobby’s head snapped up at his father’s words. He just stared not saying a word as the words seeped in. Bobby knew he never used protection with Paige. He knew from her profile and examination at the club she was on birth control. He usually used condoms with everyone but he never thought of it that night and they haven’t used one since.
“It’s too early to know something like that isn’t it,” Marcus asked.
“Not really,” Sam shrugged. “Ellen started getting sick almost the moment she conceived and it lasted till almost the middle of her second trimester.”
“God, it’s been over a month since we first slept together,” Bobby finally said and ran a hand through his hair. “If she’s pregnant she is going to freak, how could I be so stupid? It’s like I’m trying to lose her.”
“What makes you say that,” Nathan asked looking concerned.
“Bro, she is scared to death to be in a real relationship. I asked her to move in with me and I could see I freaked her out. A baby, she’ll run screaming.” Bobby groaned and put his head in his hands.
