What's your line of work?
DAVIS
I'm an architect.
Chieko and Harmonia burst out laughing.
DAVIS
Is that funny?
ORION
You should watch more TV.
HARMONIA
No, really?
Orion reaches inside Davis' jacket and pulls out a business
card.
ORION
Really.
The women look at the business card and stop laughing.
The server returns with the other three drinks.
HARMONIA
(to Chieko)
And he's the poet.
MIKE
I like poetry!
CHIEKO
What's your favorite poem?
He wracks his brain to think of a single poem.
MIKE
I like Dr. Seuss books.
The women laugh.
ORION
What? He'd make a great dad!
They stop laughing.
CHIEKO
You're right. Sorry, Mike. You're
a real nice guy.
He looks like his hopes have risen again.
CHIEKO
And no, I'm not coming to Vegas with
you. But we can keep in touch.
She writes her phone number on his palm.
AIRPORT ANNOUNCER (V. O. )
Delta Airlines flight 222 departing
for Las Vegas is now boarding at
Gate 17.
DAVIS
That's our call, Harmonia. It's not
to late to change your ticket.
She stands up.
HARMONIA
Chieko, could we talk in private?
The two women leave the table. All four men study their body language as they walk out of hearing range.
ORION
A twenty says she'll be on the plane
next to you.
DAVIS
No more games.
Harmonia's body language is vivid: extremely emotional, confused, scared, angry. She glances at Davis and sees he's watching. She turns away.
CHIEKO
You told me on the boat you hate
that job. You were ready to move to
Las Vegas for Orion--what's the big
risk now?
HARMONIA
I don't want to hurt Orion.
CHIEKO
You mean Davis?
HARMONIA
Yes, Davis! I mean Davis--the real
Davis. What if I can't handle it?
CHIEKO
Handle what?
HARMONIA
You know what I mean.
CHIEKO
When there is a will, there is a
way. Get creative.
HARMONIA
What if we can't work together?
CHIEKO
What if? What if? What if? Look,
I get that you're scared. But this
isn't that big of a risk. You go.
You get to know each other. If you
aren't compatible, you go your
separate ways.
HARMONIA
Just like that?
CHIEKO
It's all about the agreements you
start with. You believe he's a man
of his word?
HARMONIA
I shouldn't, but I do.
CHIEKO
Set some realistic expectations, and
take it one step at a time.
Harmonia looks back at Davis. His face is calm: he has no emotional attachment one way or the other.
EXT. ARCHITECT'S BEDROOM WINDOW - NIGHT
Davis gazes out, placid. The Las Vegas skyline reflects on the glass.
INT. ARCHITECT'S BEDROOM - CONT'D
Davis sits wheels himself to the bed and gets into bed. He props himself up with pillows and works on a laptop.
INT. LUXURY BATHROOM - SIMULTANEOUS
Harmonia soaks in a steamy bubble bath. She sips on a glass of ice water with lemon and uses a remote control to turn on some sexy jazz music.
She steps out of the tub and wraps a towel around her. She rubs the steam off the mirror and puts on some makeup.
She fixes her hair.
She pulls on a pair of rainbow fishnet stockings and some hot pink lingerie, then slips on some stilettos.
TITLE OVER: "THREE YEARS LATER"
Harmonia turns the volume up on a very sexy song. She picks up the glass of ice water and opens the bathroom door. Davis looks up from the bed and lights up like the 4th of July.
Harmonia makes a savory production of walking to the bed.
She sets the glass of ice water on the bedside table, then takes the laptop away and puts it on the floor.
Davis watches her. It's a mutual adoration party for two.
DAVIS
You look positively edible.
He leans over and kisses her thigh.
DAVIS
I love that perfume.
She sits beside him and kisses his forehead, nose and cheeks.
He kisses her hands.
HARMONIA
Kisses, kisses, everywhere...
He kisses her mouth.
She moves down his neck and lingers there.
She pulls the blankets away, exposing his naked body.
She takes an ice cube out of the glass on the bedside table, and puts it in her mouth.
She kisses his nipples and rubs them with the ice held between her lips.
She moves down his belly.
DAVIS
Oh my luscious honey. Hand me the
olive oil.
She ignores him and moves lower.
HARMONIA
... especially There.
He watches her and smiles.
DAVIS
How about a toy?
HARMONIA
No distractions.
She savors playing with it.
DAVIS
You spoil me.
HARMONIA
I love the way he tells me he loves
me in his own special way.
DAVIS
What about me? I tell you I love
you all kinds of special ways!
She giggles.
HARMONIA
I love everything about you.
He moans with pleasure as she mounts him.
DAVIS
I remember that feeling well.
