Jeanne, dabbing her damp eyes, sat with her
family in the first pew on the bride's side. All of Jared's family
filled the groom's side. The entire town crowded into the small
church, everyone curious yet not unkind about the strange turn of
events in the life of one of their own. Even a subdued Bradley and
his uncharacteristically attentive father sat in a pew. Teachers
and students from school smiled their approval. Once the true story
had been told none seemed to find the situation odd.

Alex looked beautiful in her red velvet
flower girl dress as she walked down the aisle sprinkling flower
petals.

The music swelled. The congregation stood as
Maggie started her march to where Jared waited. Her eyes searched
him out standing tall and straight next to the minister.

For a moment her nerve faltered. What had she
ever done to deserve such happiness? The sun streaming through the
windows dimmed. Icy fear settled around her heart.

Then Jared's warm fingers closed around hers
and Maggie's fears melted away.

She was finally home.
