I laughed. “How kind of you. Let’s go! Oh wait, I have to grab my guitar.”
“Already got it,” Meagan said, standing beside me.
Max steered me toward his car and held the door for me. When we were in the privacy of his car, I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him again.
“What was that for?” he asked.
“To say thank you. Thank you for not giving up on me, Max. Thank you for helping me to make it through it all.”
“There is no where else I would rather be. Come on, let’s go eat.” He started the car, and we set off.
I took that time to reflect. I wasn’t sure what was in store for us, and I had no doubt that we would have some ups and downs. I definitely wasn’t cured of my sadness from losing my brother, but I knew Max would be there, regardless, to comfort me, make me laugh, and support me. Thank goodness for that day on the bridge.
This book would not have been written, had it not been for a few people in my life.
