“I think I hear my escort.” Querk, beaming with resurgent self-satisfaction, had placed himself in charge of the proceedings. “Perhaps you would be kind enough to unlock the door for them. We must not keep them waiting. Mrs. Querk can join us at the police station, where I feel sure you will give me an opportunity to allay her anxiety on my behalf.”
